Cafe Racer is the size of a shipping container on the side of the road. It's drive thru only. We placed an order online for a Saturday pickup on 1/15/22 at 9:00. That was the move because we didn't have to wait as long. Staff was really nice. Here's what I had: - TaterBoi ($7): Biscuit with cheddar cheese, tater patty, egg, and jalapeño cream cheese. Underwhelmed. $7 for a biscuit without meat is too much. There was too much cream cheese. I wouldn't get this again. - Nookie: Suuuuper good. Filled with something like Oreo cream. It was amazing. - Blueberry Cake Donut: My sister really talked this up, but I didn't think it was that great. The donut itself was just a regular cake donut. The blueberry part was only in the icing. I wish they had actual blueberries in the donut. I had pretty high expectations and unfortunately, Cafe Racer didn't live up to them for my first time there. such a cute spot. my friend lives near the Crawford location and kept saying we should try it bc we are coffee con osiers.. lol went on a Saturday morning. the parking lot was bananas. people had their kids, dogs, & blankets for picnics. it was sooo cute. We ordered 2 becky's, a drip, donut holes, a frappe and an ice coffee. EVERYTHING was awesome. My total was like $29 but hey, it's the weekend and this was definitely a treat. The lady who took our order said it was a 20-30 min wait but it was only like 10-15 mins. we waited on our vehicle until our name was blasted over a PA system that had such an nice mic.. THE BEST BREAKFAST!!! If you love your friends, get this while everyone is hungover. Or dead sober, best breakfast/brunch option ever. I can't stress enough how worth the drive this is. Their biscuits are slap your grandma good, and their donuts are too. Like get the donut holes or you go to Auburn. This place is a not so hidden gem now, and praise god it's been discovered! Allyson had the "5 Star", posted below, House made pimento, thicc cut bacon, medium fried egg, crispy butter lettuce, fresh sliced tomato topped with a hearty serving of ™ Racer Sauce ™. When I ordered it for her, she said "I am only going to have a bite". However after the one bite, she didn't put it down until it was all gone. She raved about how delicious it was. It was so great, she even took a bite of my "All the Way" biscuit. From bottom to top: strawberry preserves + mild pork sausage + scrambled egg + pepper jack cheese.and I added the hash browns. Wow! That great pork sausage, with the mildly spicy pepper jack cheese and paired with the seeet strawberry jelly. This was a "To Die For" biscuit. The cinnamon donut made from potato dough is equally incredible. Lots of taste on a light and fluffy could like cake without any bad oily after taste. Wow! Just Wow! Allyson mentioned their coffee excellent; Not bitter, deep rich flavor, caramelized bean taste. WIN! WIN! WIN! This place has the greatest people; friendly and welcoming. My FAVORITE donut place + biscuit place. It's a drive through building on the side of the road, so if you don't know it, you might miss it on your drive to/from Athens. Their biscuits are around $5 and their donuts are around $2. The bacon egg & cheese biscuit is DELIGHTFUL, super warm and the dough just melts in your mouth (get the jelly on it, too!) The cinnamon roll donut is HIGHLY recommended 10/10. Their employees are incredibly friendly, you almost feel like you're a part of a family when you go. I've never had their coffee but I will definitely try as soon as I get back to Athens! For COVID, they switched to online orders only which is actually helpful because normally if you get there as early as an hour after they open, the donuts you want will probably already be gone! This was my first time visiting Cafe Racer and the food was well worth the 40 minute round trip drive. We got the Bonjorno and the COWBOI biscuits (see photo for description) and they did not disappoint! The biscuits had a perfect texture and satisfying flavors. We also got an assortment of donut holes which included cinnamon, chocolate sprinkles, vanilla, lemon, coffee and strawberry. The holes went perfectly with a vanilla latte! I hate to give three stars because their biscuits and donuts are really great, but the pick up system for online orders really needs some improvement. My online order was for 9:35am and I didn't receive my order until 10:25am. There are 2 pick up windows you can drive up to, but people also walk up to those same windows to pick up and place orders. So it's annoying to see people who just walk up get helped when you've been sitting in your car for 10 minutes and haven't been helped at all. I then parked and walked up hoping that would speed up the pick up process, but it didn't at all. So there's 2 lines of cars and people all over place picking up orders and it's all very disorganized. I'm not sure if I'm proud or ashamed to say I regularly drive twenty minutes to pick up breakfast and drive twenty minutes back to my place. The biscuits are phenomenal and everything tastes fresh! I tried their doughnuts this weekend (which are potato doughnuts) and was blown away - definitely recommend the cinnamon bun flavor! I also really enjoy their lemonade. I freaking love this place. Everything about it is awesome. The people are nice and fun, their advertising makes me feel like I'm in a Club with cool people, and their food is ridiculously good. My husband complains that the wait is long but that is only cuz this place is so good and so local and small that they are blowing up. I'll wait all day for their delicious biscuit sandwich. And the wait never stops my husband from requesting to wait again the next weekend. After spending an hour and a half, round trip, to go to cafe racer, wait for my food, and drive home to share with my fiancée, I had a moment of regret. I thought, "was this worth it in a college football Saturday to drive so far for a couple of breakfast tacos?" After taking one bite, I knew it had all been worth it. I don't know how they fit so much flavor into one tiny taco, but there really is no comparison anywhere in Georgia. One day, Cafe Racer will open in Athens-Clarke County. This is a people over profit business. I have heard about this cafe and have driven by this cafe many times. Last time when I wanted to stop by for a donut, I found out it's closed because one of its team members was possibly exposed to the coronavirus. This cafe sacrifices profit to protect its team member, to protect its customers, offers 100% transparency when the government fails to do so.
