My Girlfriend and I went on a Sunday Afternoon around 4:00pm. We both had the Moravian Style Pork Slow Roasted Pork with Aromatic Vegetables served with Sauerkraut and Potato Dumplings!!! The sauerkraut is homemade/handmade, no sulfites, no MSG!!! The vegetables were just some tiny and thin fried onions that were garnished on top of the pork, they tasted yummy. This was so good; I thought it was even better than what my Bohemian Grandmother would serve up! I was very impressed. Nice looking place to come anytime, especially at night to party and have some good drinks. Awesome beers on tap, Czech beers rock! Not much of a tap selection but for 4 Bucks for a 1/2 liter, that great!! My server was nice. The other people eating their shared some of their potato pancakes which were tasty. We left feeling stuffed and happy. I look forward to many returns. I will bring my dad and grandpa for sure! This is the kind of yummy, savory and delicious food we grew up with. I regretfully must give this place a poor review. The ambience is very nice and the food I have tried has been very good. But the service is absolutely horrendous. I have been to this place multiple times and each time it has only gotten worse. The last time was the final straw. Not only was the service slow, but I was cheated on my drink. I ordered a White Russian, I very standard drink, but the bartender took it on herself to use top self liquor in the drink. This caused the drink to cost twice what a normal drink would. This is an old bartender trick to drive up the bill to get a bigger tip. I did not discover this filthy trick until after I left. I am very disappointed in this local bar. read more

Doesn't get much better or more authentic as far as Czech food goes. The menu offers a good variety of meals to choose from, but isn't overwhelming. Every time I've dined there the food has been cooked and seasoned perfectly. Fyi, the portions are generous so be prepared to take home a doggy bag. read more

My girlfriend and I came to Cafe Prague , because we had never been there, and we had a coupon. Our waitress, Lucie was very helpful in making eating choices. One of us had the special that day , Grilled PorkLoin , with grilled veggies, the other Chicken Schneizel. Both very good. The soup of the day was truly Czech mushroom, with poached egg. WOW! Great food and service but definitely felt like more of a club/lounge than a restaurant. Went here on a date night with my husband and expected a nice, soft lit romantics place for dinner but it was completely different than what I had imagined. Not terrible, just not as I had expected. They have great Martinis and Eastern European food for good prices and it was relatively quiet, apart from the pumping music that made it feel like a club. This is definitely a place to go to for just drinks to hang and not so much a date night. Caffe Prague is perfect place to go if you love great beer and great food! Their Czech beer selections is amazing! The menu is great for traditional Czech food as well as for salads and great appetizers. They always have something new on special so you never get bored with their selection. I hosted my sister's baby shower here last week and everything went as smoothly as possible. We had 60 people and the cafe fit everyone comfortably. We even had lots of space for opening presents and doing activities. Milada was such a pleasure to work with and catered to all of our needs. The waitresses were great as well. Cafe Prague is one of those rare places that survived Internet cafe era, Wi Fi revolution and recession without loosing its cool. I really liked it when they had books and art pieces for sale, it always felt very cozy and relaxed. Now ( I went to Prague cafe last weekend on 10/3/14) they cleared the books area for a stage and dance floor. While we were enjoying a couple of glasses of Czech wine, suggested by our host, the servers were preparing everything for some formal event. The setting looked very elegant and stylish, made me consider this place for our future parties. The food is decent, but we didn't order much: potato pancakes with goulash , mushroom soup and the apple strudel for dessert. I was little bit disappointed with the goulash taste and presentation, but the apple dessert eased this impression. It was light and delicious. The prices are acceptable, the atmosphere pleasant. Really nice, attractive servers and attentive owner. Overall, place worth visiting and coming back. read more

After living in Prague for four months, we craved Czech food upon our return, but unfortunately, Czech restaurants are few and far between in Chicago. Cafe Prague has been on our list of places to visit, but it's a bit of a hike for us. We finally had a chance to go with friends and I can honestly say you will not be disappointed. You can't go wrong with the delicious halusky (traditional potato dumplings, onions, bacon, and bryndza cheese), potato pancakes, Moravian pork, and salmon. Wash it all down with some dark Czech beer and you will be in heaven. I only wish we lived closer, but I can see us returning to try some of the traditional beef dishes, and, of course, the fried cheese. Service was fast and friendly, and the large dining room and bar area are comfortable considering the size of the place. As we were leaving a band was setting up, so hopefully next time we time it right to hear some traditional music as well. read more

As good as it gets! I was born in the Czech Republic and I do know what traditional czech food and a beer should taste like. You got it. Exactly like that. You go there because you have a taste for it or you'd like to try something for you original and for that country traditional. Since the menu doesn't have 10 pages what is on the menu is actually really good. For prices and the menu you can always go to their website. By the way the girls there are truly beautiful, always smiling, and always friendly. Service is as good as it can get. For the Czechs, you may be surprised to hear more polish than czech. For Americans, you probably do not care since you may not be able to distinguish between czech and polish anyway. Like if that mattered. You may also be lucky to run into live music during the weekends. I wish they had it posted on their website. They may if it is something more important. I am not sure. The setup and design of the place is rather unique. On your right will be a restaurant part and on your left a lounge with big sofas and armchairs. Farther in more tables in the middle are separating the bar area from the dance floor. I live closer to the downtown than to that area so I do not go there that often. On the other hand I have never been disappointed over those years. So for me five stars. read more

Hubby took me to this great bar/restaurant. Food and service here are wonderful! Definitely recommend their mushroom soup - never had this with dill, potatoes, and a poached egg. Yum! I also recommend (and never heard of) their fried pickles, but they were filling too! We had an excellent waitress - Tereza M! Very attentive and provided awesome service. Never had to hail down any waiter/waitress for anything. Milada, the owner, is very welcoming and a great hostess! She made us and our friends all feel like family. Great service! Friend took me there to watch the Hawks game. Never had to wait for a drink. The food was amazing. Even tried a new app that was little pieces of bread with pork and cheese. We were having lunch with my friend in this warm and cozy place, on Tuesday Dec27th. The server Petra was very personable and attentive to details, rely professional. Her service was excellent. We tried pork and chicken shnitzel with mashed potatoes and we loved it. Food tasted fresh, reminding us delicacy of the European culinary art. We had also homemade mushroom soup. It tasted rely good. On the top of it all, draft Krusovice Czech beer, in large mugs, made it a memorable experience for us. We will be definitely back to try more specialties. read more

I have visited this place last sunday 06/21/2015, it was our first time here. Me and my friend came for lunch because we were in the area and wanted to try some east european cuisine. The place looks nice, spacious, we decided to sit in the bar area. The menu is interresting, they have beef gulash and czech roast beef which was our choice, I can't complain about our meal it was pretty good, but the servis was different story. Our bartender Petra I believe it was her name seemed more busy with checking on her phone than on our drinks, she was not really helpful, got the feeling I bothered her with my presence there, I'm not sure about coming back, but giving three stars for the food! read more

Came here originally a month ago for a wedding party and food was amazing. Which I would have given 5 stars, however we ordered food for pick up yesterday and it wasn't good. Fries looked very good but tasted old. Mushroom soup was good, but super sweet. Two people that had mushroom soup had stomach pain. Chicken with mushroom and cheese was very good. I lived in the Czech Republic for a few years and so while we were passing through Chicago, I knew I wanted to stop and get some Czech food. We chose Cafe Prague because of its location with our other activities. The food was wonderful. The staff was helpful and we had a fantastic experience. Cafe Prague is a great hidden gem. I planned my husbands 40th Birthday party at Cafe Prague. My husband loves Prague and really enjoys great czech food. The owner Milada and Manager Mathew couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating to the size group I was having. I met with them and knew I picked a great spot. The food was delicious we got a huge variety of food including roast beef, an amazing pork stuffed with asparagus, and delicious dumplings. The night was a night we will never forget the tables looked gorgeous, and we even hired a Rod Stewart impersonator that the restaurant has used in the past. I have frequented this place a few times within the last 2 years but never in my life have I received such poor service as I did during our last snow storm on 3/5/13. First of all, after we sat down it took the waitress 15 min to come and take our order. Mind you, the place was dead save for a few men at the bar chit chatting and flirting with the women bartenders and waitresses. But that's just it. The reason it took them another 15min to get our coffees and beers. And there was just 3 of us. She should've been at our heels instead of ignoring us for the next 40 min, at that point we wanted our check and leave but it seems like they were preoccupied trying to get laid or something. It was pathetic. Our check didn't arrive for another 20 or so minutes and they got the cue only because we started to dress up and leave. If this is how they act on slow days with less than 15 people around in this establishment, I fear returning on a busier day. What a waste of my time. I regret tipping at all for such shoddy service. For all the grandeur and homely look in its interior, I sure did not feel welcome or cared for. read more
