I'd heard a buzz about Cafe Nomad. I also read the Yelp reviews. On our way to Bryant Pond for a family Christmas weekend on Friday afternoon, we stopped off in downtown Norway. Great, functional downtown with wonderful older architecture, and locally-owned stores (consignment, books, and hardware, to name three anchors that a great local downtown needs). Even had a chance to sample some wine and champagne at a tasting at the yarn/wine shop. Cafe Nomad was perfect to have a cup of homemade soup and coffee. Their roasted red pepper and tomato soup was perfect for a chilly December afternoon, with freezing drizzle coming down. My wife has the tomato bisque that she said was exquisite. Funky decor (great back area with books and couches and comfy chairs) and friendly staff. Will definitely keep in mind next time I'm passing through and need coffee and a place to "dock" for an hour or two. read more

AMAZING AN ABSOLUTE MUST VISIT!!! Their marshmallow mocha is delicious! The staff is so kind.

This place turns me into a kitten. All I want to do is sit in a sun spot, nap on the cozy couch in the back nook, breathe in the smell of caffeine and books, and purr my approval of all the deliciousness that takes place in here. I love, love, loove this spot. I love the art, I love the food, I love the shelves, I love the airiness, I love the community vibes, I love the bathrooms. I love it all. Purr. (And I'm allergic to cats. Likening myself to one is a grand statement.) Many delicious vegetarian options. The summer Caprese board was fabulous. This place was delicious!!! The best thing we had was the Nomad Burger. Holy cow. We went there for lunch but liked it so much we asked to see the dinner menu (Fri and Sat only). Half of the stuff is vegetarian which I think rules. Means they know how to make things with veggies. Wow. So delicious. Even if you're a meat eater you should totally get the Nomad Burger. Delicious breakfast. Garlic potatoes, omelette with goat cheese, roasted peppers and tomatoes was fabulous. My husband had the original breakfast burrito with sausage. It was also very good, though a lil greasy, probably because of the sausage. We shared a maple scone after we left, it was perfect. Definitely worth it to stop in here! read more

Oh no! I thought I reviewed this back when I ate here over a year ago now. The experience stuck with me so I wanted to add my two cents. I used to live in the area and wish this had been around when I still lived there. We stumbled upon it while heading out of town after a memorial service for my grandfather and grabbed some coffee and sandwiches. All was delicious and fresh. The coffee, the sandwiches, everything. All the people at the counter were very friendly, and we didn't have to wait very long for our items to come out. Despite our family's numbers dwindling in the area now, if we ever make it back up (like if we are ever up in the area for skiing or hiking) we will definitely head back to Cafe Nomad. read more

The coffee (Carrabassett Coffee Company) here was the best I've had in Maine, or at any time on this trip. The scones were fresh and baked to perfection, with great texture and slight, but not overdone, sweetness. The burritos were cooked perfectly, but large and in need of a touch of salt. Overall, the atmosphere was charming, with wooden floors, raw timber posts, a reading area, and art prints on the walls. A treasure. read more

We were coming through the area at lunch and were looking for something in the culinary wasteland that is Route 26 where fast food rules. Luckily we headed up Main St. in South Paris and found Cafe Nomad. A creative lunch menu with local ingredients and a casual coffee house environment with a few of the stream. Worth getting off 26 and onto Main Street for breakfast, lunch and a latté. Café Nomad is the best place for great coffee and good food. Good place to meet friends, take a few moments to be alone and enjoy a latté, have a meeting, do some work, get lunch, hang out with my son. It's the social hub and a cornerstone of the area. Skip everything else in South Paris and Oxford... it's all fast food from Sysko. Café Nomad sources local and organic ingredients when they can. read more

Everyday I wish this place was better, but every time I visit, it's so disappointing. 2-stars because the coffee is good, but that's really the only redeeming quality. I'd still go in for coffee, but after our last experience, my husband is on a full boycott. The service is poor, the food is worse and the prices are sky high. Potatoes: under cooked and hard in the middle, bacon: under cooked (and microwaved at that), breakfast burrito: swimming in a pool of oil. One time, when I brought my sandwich back to the counter because it had raw bacon on it, the person behind the counter just handed me a plate of only slightly more microwaved pork-product like they expected me to re build my own sandwich - what was I supposed to do with the raw meat still on the bread!? Maybe this is a personal issue, but they don't serve breakfast items after 11 on the weekends and they are closed Sunday: two mortal sins in the cafe/coffee shop world, if you ask me. I may be harsh, but I worked at coffee shops and cafes from 16 until I finished college and this place is just subpar in my opinion. I do so wish they would get better thought, and maybe I'll sneak over without my husband out of desperation because unfortunately there are no other options in town. read more

I absolutely adore this cozy little cafe. The staff recognize returning customers and often refer to them by name. The food is healthy, delicious, creative and often locally sourced. The espresso drinks are well made (this coming from a very picky barista!) and the drip coffee from Carrabasset (a Maine roaster) is among the best! The walls are adorned with incredible works from local, rotating artists. This is absolutely kid and family friendly, yet never feels like a daycare. The library along the back wall and the plush and comfy chairs provide a welcoming atmosphere to curl up, enjoy your cappuccino and watch the river flow by out the back windows. The staff are smiling, personable and endlessly friendly. The business is a cornerstone in Norway and certainly worth a visit when passing through town! read more

I got a turkey sandwich and my fiancé got the tuna salad sandwich. She said it was one of the best sandwich she'd had in ages. The decor was great, very eclectic with mismatched dishware and even a little book nook with couches. The only reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars is because we saw the owner be very rude to one of her employees; this was quite a turnoff. read more

Cute spot for breakfast or lunch. I wanted to try many options but went with a wrap special with sweet potato, black beans, rice and cheese. It was a filling sandwich that was perfect and vegetarian. My boyfriend had a breakfast sandwich that was also good. They have some different drink selections too which was refreshing.
