However, we will not be eating here anymore as the quality and customer service went down significantly. They started just filling the plates with an overload of sides and the meat quantity went down drastically. I didn't mind spending a lot as before it was worth it. Simply Delicious! We were in the mood to eat some fresh and tasty Mediterranean Food. This place is a medium size location around many other shops and store. You can call for pick up or eat at thr location (both inside and out). But be on the lookout! You can miss this location, if your initial reaction is to head over to "the others" (commercial fast food chains). Food is well prepared, staff are nice and above all it is delicious. True to yelps 3 star description, this stop was a ok. There's limited seating, but my group had no trouble getting a table (5 people on Sunday at 7pm). From memory it felt like 3 four seater booths, 3 two seater tables and 2 two seater high tables. I got the zucchini crisps (freshly fried, breaded well), and a chicken souvlaki plate with rice and fattoush salad as my sides. I thought the chicken was too salty. I recommend getting rice and no dressing to balance the salty. I might try the chicken kebab otherwise. All the other dishes reportedly a ok. I can see myself coming back and eating here maybe once every 2 months if I lived in the area, but it's not sure it's something I would be adamant about coming back to. read more

What a gem. Cafe Moderno is located in a strip mall sandwiched in between strip mall stores - a mattress and lingerie store. In any case, I had the most delicious lunch. It's fast casual here - you order at the counter and they bring you the food when it's ready. I opted for the chicken souvlaki ($9.95) which is served with two sides, pita + dip (tzatziki). For my sides, I chose basmati rice pilaf and the Greek salad. The rice was incredibly fluffy and buttery - a great contrast from my other basmati experiences. The chicken was wonderfully seasoned and sautéed with onions and bell peppers. To be honest, I hate bell peppers, but these bell peppers were bomb because they were cooked down to a softness, which I prefer. I loved their Greek salad as well - the dressing paired with the feta cheese was great. Proportionally, everything was very generous. I love Mediterranean food, but it's usually on the pricier side. First the good - the food was 3.5 stars. Had lamb gyros, falafel, pilaf, Greek salad, and tzatziki. The bad - the place was filthy, 1 star. Simply no excuse. There was no one there on a Sat eve. No take out orders while we waited. One other couple came in after us. One dirty table with plates. Gross tables and chairs that look like they hadn't been cleaned in ages. The sun was setting, and I could see dust on the tables near the front door where we were sitting, and they looked like they hadn't been wiped down in a long time. Nasty door handles, and looked like they hadn't been cleaned since COVID. I wanted to order Mediterranean fries as one of my side dishes and they were out (out of fries?). The soda machine had a broken ice dispenser. The waitress was kind, and offered to get some ice, but she acted like it was an unusual request. The edge of the tables were so beat up that my wife tore her blouse on the corner. We later realized we got there about 7:15 pm, and the kitchen closes at 7:40. They are only open 11-8 daily. We've been searching for a good casual Mediterranean restaurant and I think we've found one here. For our take out order we opted to try the gyro, falafel wrap, hummus dip, spanakopita, and falafel appetizer. The portions in the wraps are decent and the toppings are pretty fresh. The Tzatziki was not the best I've ever had, I prefer a thicker consistency where theirs is more liquid and I felt like the falafel and spanakopita were maybe cooked a bit too long but the flavors were all there. The flavor of the lamb was also really delicious. All in all I think the food was really good especially for the price. I look forward to sitting down when they are open for dine in and trying some of their dinner plates and other sides. read more

Stopped by here for lunch with my family coming back from a trip. The woman behind the counter was super nice and especially helpful when it came to letting me know what options I had as a vegan--she seemed very knowledgeable about ingredients and their menu as well as understood what vegan meant. The nightmare started when I could see the cook flipping tiny brown things on the grill, I prayed it wasn't going to be my gyro but sadly it was. Gyro needs to be cooked on a spit and the meat quality was trash very preprocessed and tasted like sliced frozen jimmy deans breakfast sausage. Texture was nasty and mushy and preprocessed. The fattoush salad did not have correct seasonings just because you put olive oil and lemon juice does not make it a fattoush. Was lacking all correct spices and hardly had any fried pita chips. I am extremely disappointed by this place it is basically Mediterranean for white people/uncultured people who do not understand this cuisine. Pathetic. This isn't the place for authenticity. WOULD GIVE ZEROS IF POSSIBLE!!! Will never come back to patronize this establishment. My family and I would frequent this restaurant often because there aren't that many good eats in the area and they seemed to make pretty decent tasting food that was consistently fresh. My daughter called in to order a meal and we drove down a few minutes later to pick up the order. When we got home my daughter noticed that he order was incorrect. I told her to give the restaurant a call and let them know so we could get the order fixed. When she called, the young lady that rang us up for our order answered the phone. She told my daughter to hold on and she was going to check with the employee that took my daughters order over the phone. When she got back on the phone she said that she checked with the employee that took the order and she said that she confirmed the order was correct with my daughter prior to ending the call. She then proceeded to tell me she was sorry that my daughter ordered the wrong item. I told her my daughter orders the same thing every-time and there is no way she would have ordered the meal she received as she has a plant based diet. The young lady told me that she was sorry that we ordered the wrong item and told me that I needed to calm down. I was extremely respectful and never raised my voice or anything but did tell her I was not satisfied with the resolution she was providing. I told her that if this was the resolution, I would bring the order right back to the restaurant and they could give us a refund for our order. (She was so rude and unprofessional with me on the phone at that point that I did not feel comfortable having her or anyone at the restaurant prepare my daughters food anymore) She told me that since we paid cash she could not approve a refund for our order. I asked to speak with the manager, but of course you know she replied that she was the person in charge at the time. I told her that I didn't feel that it was right that they were trying to blame my daughter for the order being incorrect. I would have just expected them to replace the order as a customer service courtesy. The young lady replied again that she was sorry that we ordered the wrong item and there was nothing she could do. She told me that the manager would be in tomorrow when they opened and proceeded to HANG UP IN MY FACE!!! I took the food back down to the restaurant, asked for a refund, and asked for the contact information for the owner because she had hung up in my face. The most frustrating part of this experience was not that order was incorrect or that I had to drive back down to the restaurant. It was the fact that she tried to play the "angry Black man" card by repeatedly telling me to calm down and that I was making her uncomfortable, to the point the cook came from the back to check on her. I'm sure he witnessed or heard most or all of the interaction between her and I because he looked as if he knew she was wrong but didn't want to say anything because they worked together. She went out of her way to make it seem like I was some out of control person, yelling and causing some type of disturbance. I've worked in customer service and food service most of my life so I would never mistreat someone doing their job just because I had a bad experience. It was really sad that she really tried to go out of her way to make it seem as if I made her uncomfortable or as if I was going to do some type of physical harm. It was just too much for some food and she could have handled the situation much more professionally. She told me "Look dude, if you were nicer on the phone I would have replaced your order." Dude...Dude... who talks to customers like that. I wasn't a customer to her, I was some (Black) Dude in her restaurant. It seemed as if she was taking the whole thing personal and a mistake on a $9 meal turned into a dramatic experience. She eventually told me that she was going to refund the order but I needed to wait outside while she refunds the order. Lol no way... so you can lock me outside and keep my money... I asked her to just please refund my money and I would leave the restaurant and they would never have to see me again. It was as if she was on some type of passive aggressive power trip. She reluctantly refunded my cash as she proceeded to continue acting as if she was terrified by me by shaking uncontrollably while handing me my money. She put on a Class Act performance!! I really wish I would have had the foresight to record the whole interaction because I really couldn't believe what was unfolding before my eyes. I rarely write reviews but this place left such a bad taste in my mouth because My family and I genuinely liked the food for a long time and are disappointed because we are no longer comfortable supporting the restaurant. This is the closest place from where I live that sells gyros. I have to admit that they are pretty tasty. I also tried the hummus which was good too. My ultimate favorite was the tiramisu!!! My review is based on curbside takeout: Super easy to order, our order was exactly as we ordered. I made the mistake of not ordering hummus because for some reason I thought it would just be included? Again, my mistake, not a reflection on them. The red wine vinaigrette dressing is really good, the rice doesn't have a ton of flavor but it's good, not dry at all. The falafel is actually the most flavorful I've had, and not too dry either. My husband said the chicken and grilled vegetables were really good. The veggies weren't overly cooked and soggy and still had a bite to them.
