As luck would have it time was on our side so we sat down to enjoy the atmosphere and order drinks and food. It's in a convenient location, between the train station and the Peacocks carparks, so good for an early morning pick-me-up on the way into London. It's also just by the main square so also good for people who work in the town centre or are out shopping. In recent years it's added tables and chairs outside in the pedestrian area which has eased congestion inside as it's not very big. They do a nice selection of fresh paninis and sandwiches. The coffee is excellent, the milkshakes and smoothies good for the Summer months. Average prices for this area and they have a loyalty scheme which means you can get a free drink after getting a certain number of stamps. The free wifi is an excellent draw. The staff are young and friendly - Esquires is actually a NZ franchise and how it made it's way to Woking I will never fathom.

Staff will go the extra mile if you are pushed for time and there is even a quick menu for those with less than an hour to spare. The steak frites comes highly recommended. There's a welcoming cafe society atmosphere here - unusual for Woking and unusual for an establishment that's in a shopping centre. Whether you're after a bottled beer or something a bit more substantial it's worth a try.

It has a couple of entrances, one from the shopping mall and a lower one from the square, and the two levels provide a nice variety of seating options. There is also an upstairs area, although the stairs to this are so discreetly tucked away behind the counter that it is easy to miss them. I only spotted them on my last visit when I managed to find a table right at the bottom of them, so I can't comment on the upstairs seating. I can only assume that it might be quieter up there. The staff were cheery although mostly European it seemed, and this did lead to some translational difficulties, particularly when they served me a takeaway Americano with milk when I had specifically requested no milk. I only discovered this after I'd left of course, so that was a wasted coffee, and a three-star review right there.
