It seemed to be frequented by mainly locals...not too touristy, which is exactly what we were looking for. Prices are affordable and the service was pretty good. Everyone enjoyed the following meals and would recommend: Eggs Royale Omelette with basil, tomato, and prosciutto The coffee options are quite delicious too. A lovely place to eat in a local neighborhood makes the Verdict easy to recommend.

It's a grand old building that's been converted into this cafe, with lots of exposed brickwork and high ceilings. The brunch menu is compact but has something for everyone, from the 'Innocent Breakfast' of yogurt, fruit and granola to the 'Guilty Breakfast' full fry-up (kudos to them for the cheeky names!). I was very happy with all the flavours coming from my omelette, which I ordered with tomato, basil and prosciutto. The eggy part itself was a beautiful bright yellow and fluffy, and I really liked the sweet dressing on the side salad that complemented the omelette well. Both innocent and guilty breakfasts were also devoured speedily around me! The wooden farmhouse-style furniture gives it a lovely welcoming feel and I could happily have sat there and had another coffee, had we not had other places to be. Service could be a little bit more on the ball when new people wander in - but I think they (like my buddies and me) were maybe a little mesmerised by the cutest little long-haired puppy sitting on her owner's lap by the door with her chin on the table...squee! Nice to see everyone's welcome ;)

When we arrived at the station, we weren't that clear which direction we were supposed to walk, but we were clear that we needed something to nosh before facing all that flora at the gardens. The Tyrollean-looking A-frame looked inviting, especially when we walked in and saw all the pre-made sandwiches and baked goods in the display case (photo: https://bit.ly/3xwtImL). It was a tiny spot with all the seating outside. Jamie W. and I shared a £2.50 Croissant (photo: https://bit.ly/3B8qg2H) and a toasted £4.50 Turkey & Cheese sandwich on a crusty baguette (photo: https://bit.ly/3L61qVT). To wash them down, we ordered piping hot £3 Flat Whites (photo: https://bit.ly/3Dk7A2W). Funny thing was that we were on the opposite side of the station, so we crossed over and discovered a whole area of cafes and shops which we could've perused before heading to Kew. But no matter as Caffe Torelli hit the spot. I was very happy with my lunch, and the staff are so friendly and helpful. It is a little on the pricey side, but nice for a treat. I ordered scrambled eggs and smoked salmon with brown toast - simple enough you would think, except I was told they didn't have brown bread (just highly processed, mass produced, sliced white), which was more like hot bread than toast. The scrambled eggs tasted like an industrial pot of salt had been tipped into them. I like salty food, but they were completely inedible. You would imagine that a second attempt would be better, but it looked like it had been thrown onto the plate, with no care or attention and no knife and fork...I had to go and ask a waitress. The scrambled eggs were over cooked, dry balls. My partner's full English breakfast was not much better, with doughy, virtually meatless sausage, everything on the plate dry, over-cooked and fried eggs that had burst. Burst eggs should never be put on a plate and served to a customer. It is the customer's privilege to burst their own egg yolk! Nobody bothered to ask if the second attempt at my food was okay and we in fact went to the cash desk to pay. We were charged full price and the bill came to over £20, including drinks. Nobody checked to see that I had left my second plate of food virtually untouched. I own a business in central London and this is the price I expect to pay for breakfast in a high end, central London restaurant or gastro pub. It was such a shame as the location and the place itself seems very nice, but is sadly let down by the terrible food and service. I have recently moved to the area and would have used this place regularly, but not after such a bad first experience. In summary; poor quality, cheap ingredients, cooked badly and over priced.
