The shop was completely empty except for one solo customer. I then looked around and saw a sign saying 'no buggies' amongst some other hostile signage about no laptops. The poor barista was apologetic and clearly embarrassed to enforce this rule from management even in the empty ghost town of a cafe and it was pouring with rain. The big question is why situate yourself in a family area near a big park and school if you don't want children and families inside? This coffee shop must have made some big business from that one customer to be cutting out an entire sector of the market. If it's a space issue, just ask customers to fold buggies or park them outside.

If, like me, you don't eat fish, don't worry there are plenty of other choices and in quiet times you can ask the owner to rustle up something off-menu. During busy times, the place is heaving and customers squeeze up or overflow onto the pavement tables. The steady stream of local folks in and out tells the tale. Munson's is small and cozy, with only a few seats inside and few out on the pavement in good weather. The staff are very friendly, make some quality sandwiches, have some nice pastries, and even play good music (blues the last time I was in). But most importantly they make awesome organic, fair-trade coffee (I usually stop in the morning, and so get a cappuccino). They're happy to sell their coffee beans, too, ground or unground. Most varieties are fair-trade and organic. If you prefer independent, quality places to grab a cup, this is the spot in Ealing.

As it's their 2nd day of trading, the staff are still keen and conscientious, taking extra time to draw pretty pictures in cappuccinos and sprinkling chocolate Costa logos on the hot chocolates, I don't think it's the kind of store that will ever be crazy busy because of the location, so the attentive service is something I'm optimistic will continue once he helium is long gone from the balloons celebrating the store's opening. There is a great selection of sandwiches, cakes and pastries to accompany the drinks. I'm a pudding guy, (just check my ever-expanding waistline for proof) so I opted for a trio of mini tarts to accompany my large, two-handled, hot chocolate.
