We topped off our meal with a very strong Madras coffee. Overall the meal was great. If you want an authentic South Indian vegetarian meal then try Shri Balaji Bhavan.

I'm a huge fan of thali, and we usually go to Shiv Sagar. However, I saw a social media promotion…read moreoffering a free chaat with the purchase, who can say no to free chaat? The shopping center is fairly small with limited parking, and unfortunately there isn't much shade, so it can get extremely hot. One thing to note is that they're closed on Tuesdays. Ordering was simple. You grab a menu, place your order at the register, and our food arrived in about five minutes. Before ordering, I clearly requested no cilantro on everything because I have a cilantro allergy. Unfortunately, the complimentary papdi chaat came out covered in cilantro. I had to send it back to be remade, which was frustrating since food allergies should be taken seriously. The thali itself was good. It had a nice level of spice, came with three chapatis, rice, and a good variety of curries. At $11.99, I thought it was a good value. As for the papdi chaat, I still prefer Shiv Sagar's version. It has a more generous portion of potatoes and chickpeas, and if I remember correctly, it's also about a dollar cheaper. My only other disappointment was the loyalty program. I asked to join when paying, but was told that I should pay first. Once paid, the transaction had already been completed and it won't let me join. Perhaps they think we are a one time customer, so why join the program? Overall, I'm glad I gave this place a try and found another Indian restaurant in the Gandhi District. I'd definitely come back for the thali, but I hope they improve their attention to food allergies and make the loyalty program process more welcoming.

Really enjoyed dining here and would recommend!…read more Was this in Houston for the weekend visiting from CA and looking for a spot near my hotel to grab a casual dinner. I've never had Sri Lankin cuisine but was willing to give it a shot since it looked like a new and trendy spot from the photos. The atmosphere is upscale and nicely decorated including white table cloths which seemed a bit overly formal at first, but then we saw the dishes they used and the curated plating of the food which really did match this elevated vibe. Love that they had screens playing travel programs showing off the beautiful nature in Sri Lanka to get a sense of the region the cuisine comes from. The menu is quite extensive and has so many options, it was actually a bit overwhelming but they have something for everyone, including some fusion options like a Sri Lankan taco or burrito. The staff was extremely attentive and welcoming, and answered all of our questions about the dishes that we weren't familiar with. I would suggest if they are catering to an audience of people unfamiliar with the cuisine, having some definitions of some of the less commonly known dishes could be a helpful improvement. The portion sizes were great and I had enough leftovers for a second meal which still tasted great the next day. They even offered a house appetizer to try and a spicy sauce since we mentioned we liked spicy. The chef even came out to chat with us and ask how we enjoyed the meal. We learned that they have previously existed as takeout only, but the dine-in part of the restaurant is new, which explained why everything looked new despite having years of reviews online. Would definitely recommend giving them a try if you enjoy southern-eastern flavors or want to explore and expand your palate!

As no foreigner to Indo/Pak Cuisine, I had my mind set to try a Beef Boti Roll (mild) on "Paratha" bread - a toasty flaky flat bread housing several large chunks of savory beef marinated in Pakistani spices, diced onion and cucumber with a hint of ketchup and two sauce containers of a basalmic dressing and a thinner mint yogurt sauce to dip or our. This roll is also available and freshly made Naan. This roll is about 8" long. Everything is cooked to order - every order taking about 15 to 20 minutes to prepare. If you are in a hurry, make sure that you order ahead. I also want to add that they make a limited amount of marinated beef for boti and only had one order left enough for me to be able to try it. Stop in and sit to enjoy the experience.

Drinks: my gf had an old fashioned, my friend and I got the petal punch and a fourth friend got a European beer I think and we all enjoyed our drinks. My friend and I agreed that the petal punch was the best cocktail we had both ever had. The lychee and mint is just PERF! Food: we tried as much as we could. The momos was yummy and came with a great sauce. The tandoori chicken drumsticks with the sauce, YUM. I knew it was going to be great. The veggie samosas were also wonderful. The mint chutney is my preference over the tamarind, but both were good. Chicken mungfali- 10/10 but wish it were a little spicier. Chicken korma- spicier than I thought but delicious 10/10. The Nutella samosas were the only thing that was disappointing. They were way crunchier than we expected. The picture of them made it look softer and flakier than it was. Especially with the price point of $16- was not worth it. Service: our server, Magic, was great to us and showed us all his faves. Inside: very lovey inside and very clean. Can't wait to come back again! I heard they have a lunch buffet but didn't see it on the menu. I need to do some research on that!
