As the day felt of spring, yet I had to remind myself that this is still winter. My idea was to check out Sheikh Chili's Restaurant, but after passing the parking lot twice, getting confirmation of a Sheikh restaurant from the shopping center's sign, circling the parking lot twice and looking around several times, I realized that they were not in this lot.
I drove over to the new place, International Grill Cafe & Restaurant, got out my car, and was excited to see what they had inside as I walked towards the door. As I glanced at the menu board, all I saw was beef, chicken, fish, non-vegan friendly stuffs. Seeing no one around, I walked back to my car. As I got to my car to figure out where I was going to go, I notice a man who is now standing in the window. Not wanting to be rude and just walk out yet wanting to give them another chance because I like to support small businesses, especially new ones seeking new business, I go back in.
As I try to explain to the gentleman that I am seeking no-meat, at first I am mistaken for saying either no beef or I want beef. Chicken is then recommended to me. I then say I don't want meat, no chicken, no beef, no fish. I am asked, what would you like? I respond that I would just like vegetables. As an honest business owner and salesman, I can respect that he recommended I go to Chatt & Naan some doors down the way. If you don't have a product, recommending someone who does is always a good thing to do especially if they are good.
Although they are the furthest from vegan friendly, because the man who "helped" me was kind enough to understand that he could not do anything for me while recommending another place, I have to let my meat-eating friends know that this place exists for you. They are Halal, so you should try them out. Plus, don't you want to buy from someone you'd like? read more
