Recently had lunch and it was better than the last time. Weekday lunch buffet was perfect. I told the server that the chicken wasn't as good last time and he told me to never be shy if i find something is off, let them know and they will prepare a replacement. We came here for the lunch buffet to try a little bit of everything, and I was so excited about all of the vegetarian options. Let me tell you, this was the best vegetable korma I have EVER tasted--flavorful and savory with a touch of sweetness. I went back for seconds of that as did my non-vegetarian boyfriend. The garlic naan was excellent and very fresh too. The service is quick, the food is delicious, and the prices are very reasonable. We will definitely be back again next time I'm there. read more

Gosh, cheers to this place for accommodating a rag-tag bunch of 15 park rangers. This was maybe the biggest group I've ever dined with, and I much prefer a smaller group where conversation flows a bit easier, but Cafe India handled us well, bringing many tables together, splitting the check, accommodating latecomers, etc. My chai was just ok, the combo platter ensured a full stomach though it wasn't close to the best Indian food I've tried, and the naan was stellar, as it always seems to be. I'd come back for the lunch buffet, and maybe try a few of the appetizers, or a different one of many vegetarian entrees, instead of the combo plate, next time. read more

This is my first visit since the new ownership took over. The staff is friendly and the service is prompt and attentive. My wife and I didn't know what to expect from the food, but we weren't disappointed. The chicken tikka masala is still one our go-to dishes and it was flavorful and satisfying. The naan are huge and addicting. We also tried the chana masala and it was good, but we would likely try a different vegetarian dish next time. The dish didn't shine although we did like the level of spice. It was too one-dimensional for our liking. We will continue to go again since there are many positives to this restaurant and lots of other dishes to enjoy. read more

I tried this Indian restaurant with my husband for a late lunch. They're lunch buffet I believe ends at 3pm. I was worried about the cost at first because in the pictures the place looks fancier than it really is. Lunch was only 8 something. It was both affordable and delicious. Service was slow at first because the waiter took a while to notice we were waiting to be seated however once he did notice us, things picked up. I love their garlic nan. :) will definitely be coming back. read more

Would give this restaurant a negative rating if I could. Just for the nasty service. Worst service ever! Food was OK, except that it never arrived. We even had to go and pick up our own cutlery. Not just us, we even spotted the chef wandering out of the kitchen to get a serving dish from a table! When we asked the waitress for warm water she said she could not get warm water, and could just get us 'hot water from the sink!'. Could she make our assorted appetizer basket (which included a non vegetarian dish) vegetarian? Of course not! She forgot the bread basket and tea in our order and wasn't even apologetic about it. Then the hostess comes in and tells us she never got our order from the waitress and not all people who order paneer order Naan to go with it. She either really is extremely dumb or thinks we are! But wait, this is far from over. The manager comes with the waitress and asks us if we swore at the waitress. Still reeling in disbelief from this non sense ! Have never experienced this sort of service anywhere in the world! For your mental health and peace of mind, please stay as far away from this place as possible! read more

This restaurant was recommended to us by a restaurant right across the street that was closing, as we came really late. We were very pleasantly surprised! The food was excellent, some of the best Indian food we've ever tasted. The naan bread was absolutely the best naan bread I've ever had. There were six of us in our party with five different dishes and everyone was very happy with what they picked. One was vegan and it was excellent! They even gave us a free dessert for each of us to taste. We highly recommend this place, and we will definitely come again! One word of caution - you can get the dishes mild, medium or spicy, and the spicy is extremely spicy! read more

Very impressed with the quality of the food and service. We went on the night before Thanksgiving at about 6:30. There wasn't anyone else there. Very poor service. We went there at 2pm and a lady rudely asked us to leave from the entrance and said they have no food left. On the entrance it says bold and clear open from 11-3pm. We read all of the great food reviews about Cafe India on Yelp, and drove down here after a long day at Sequoia National Park. Their website says they are open until 10 pm for dinner; but we were turned down when we arrived at this place at 9.20 pm. The reason - they had a lot of orders, and their "kitchen closing time" is 9.30 pm. Why say you are open if you cannot accept orders? read more

Both the food and services were pretty good, but it is little pricy if you come for dinner. The butter chicken and the chicken tikka masala was one of the better dishes they offer. I originally ordered chicken vindaloo which is boneless chicken prepared with potatoes in hot spices which I did not like. I switched it out for the butter chicken which was much better. We also order the chicken naan and rice which was delicious! Overall the experience was good, don't know if I'd go back though. read more

Cafe India has the best Indian food we have ever had in Visalia. I had eaten there in the past with the former ownership and was terribly unimpressed. Now the food is excellent. If you aren't familiar with Indian food, go for lunch and try the buffet. The food is clearly marked and allows you to find which foods appeal to you. I prefer the plain naan bread and have found it to be the best I have ever had in any Indian restaurant across the country.
