This place is the best Ethiopian food I have had. Their veggie combo is on point. Everything is delicious, even the chickpeas which I normally dislike. They do a good job flavoring the veggies. My suggestion is getting the veggie combo and one meat. We got the doro wat, which was also very flavorful. The injera is a little dry here but the veggies make up for it. The parking lot is small, but it wasn't busy on a Saturday for lunch. For three people, it was only $35! read more

A tasty and hidden restaurant and a block from the new light rail Mt. Baker station. The QuickBooks users group I was with ordered the vegetarian combo to share. It wasn't too spicy and perfect for others with me who were trying it out for the first time. The combo easily feeds two people. The organizer ended up taking some home. They also have a back room so if you are looking for a QUIET meeting space for 20-40 people, you should consider them. Plenty of parking on nearby side streets. Just make sure you park by one of the city's signs. I would say the food matches quality of the Zuma, Enat, and GoJo restaurants. read more

IBEX is one of many Ethiopean/East African eateries in the Colombia city-Mt Baker area. Good ethnic dining experience, they put the food on top of an Injera flatbread, and you eat with your hands. Ask for extra napkins. Accessible by light rail (Mt Baker station). read more

Best Ethiopian I've had in Seattle. Two hungry men and I shared 2 meat combos on one huge platter. SO MUCH GOODNESS. The spiced meats were great. The chopped garlic greens and pickled veggies were amazing too and the injeera was good quality. Basically all the food was fantastic and healthy too. We couldn't stop eating till most of it was gone. I would not be able to go there alone and I think 2 people could be VERY full on one dish. It's also cheap, and the service is attentive and friendly. And there's parking. And they're open late. Why are you still reading this when you could be eating at Cafe Ibex? P.S. The only thing I would say they could improve: the ginger tea. It's just Stash lemon ginger. If they actually made tea with fresh ginger it would be awesome and I would pay more than $2 for it. read more

The food preparation is very good. I order to go often and they wrap the injera separate from the food inside of the to go container. The vegetable platter and meat combo are my favorites and I have yet to be disappointed in their service and qaulity. Great place. The food was excellent and the service was welcoming and warm. The night we were there, there was a wedding reception happening in the large banquet room and everyone was dressed in their finest. When the bride and groom processed in, right beside us.. there was such an atmosphere of love and celebration and dancing. And here we were, looking like tourists sitting, watching...eating from a huge platter of tasty spicy veggie and meat combos while a party kicked off. Amazing, amazing, amazing. Best Ethiopian food I've had at a restaurant and at a decent price point. It's also less greasy than a lot of places I've been around Seattle. The injera is the perfect amount of sour and chewy. We got the meat combo with a salad and misir wot, plus three beverages came out to around $60 including tax and tip. We will be back! read more

This restaurant has fantastic atmosphere, servers/owners who remember you when you return, tasty Ethiopian food, and super jam-tastic dancing night on Friday and Saturday - AND they serve food till the early morning in their generous dancehall space in the back. This is a great bar to hang out in, and a good restaurant to have a meal with your family too. Interesting... I have never had Ethiopian food before but I came here for a group meeting over a Saturday afternoon lunch. This place is in a part of town I don't come to very often. It doesn't look a thing on the inside like what you would think it would look like from the outside. It's actually huge! There's a banquet room inside which is interesting considering there's no parking. It's much nicer on the inside too... We started off with some lattes which were good without being too sweet. I also liked the chocolate syrup on top. Our group leader ordered a chicken variety and a vegetarian variety platter. I asked her how many they served (we had 8) and she said 2-3 per platter. I was shocked because the plates were $13-14 each! What a steal! The food arrived together on a large round platter. Note to picky vegetarians: if your friend orders meat and you don't want it all on one plate, make sure to tell them. They serve a little bit of everything and there is a bread underneath. They also brought us each a serving of bread. You are supposed to use the bread as a wrapper of sorts to grab the food. We ended up getting a couple spoons because it was easier. The food was flavorful. If I had to compare it to something, I would say that it seemed to have some familiar flavors as Indian or Middle Eastern food. It was unique though. I liked the spinach and yellow beans the best. I also liked the green/long yellow beans and the egg. I didn't care so much for the salad looking thing and a couple of the purees. The bread is kind of like a spongy crepe. It seems like a crepe on the edges but the center is spongy. I would say I only liked about half the vegetarian dishes so I probably wouldn't get a variety platter again if it was just me and a friend or two. The staff here is very nice. Our group leader knew them so we met the owner and they took photos for us and everything. They gave us the room in the back, but the restaurant was completely empty on a Saturday afternoon. It was weird. Do they do most of their business at night? Overall, this was a good experience and I enjoyed learning about the cuisine. I would come back again. read more

Got this through Uber Eats late at night, and the ingredients were still fresh! Order came quickly. The only complaint was that the lamb was hard to chew. I got the lamb combo and it came with the bread, a variety of vegetable and meat dishes that were otherwise delicious. It was about $20 for the combo, and was enough for both me and my boyfriend. We even had leftovers to have the next day. Although we had eaten a lot earlier that day, so I would say a combo would be just about enough for 2 people to finish in one meal. read more

Came here for Plate of Nations. I found the service to be fine. We didn't wait for long, but we didn't see much of the server once our food was served. The food was good and there was plenty of it. There was a meat & vegetable platter, followed by a dessert. It fed two of us to bursting and plenty of leftovers. The flavors were good and it wasn't too spicy for my dining companion. It was missing the boiled egg though, is that not really a thing? The price was ridiculously low for the amount and variety of food, but again we came with Plate of Nations, and I didn't see what normal prices were. There is a free parking lot. This is my new favorite Ethiopian food restaurant. I love the community vibe I get coming into this place. All the employees were friendly to me and my child, who is 14 months. I wanted my kitfo raw but got them cooked, so they brought out a whole additional raw kitfo dish for me and didn't charge me for it. The food was delicious, I liked the atmosphere, but really it's the employees that make this restaurant stand out. Great deal on combos too, with meat and everything. This used to be my favorite Ethiopian restaurant. I would have given them 5 stars every time. I went there tonight and was very disappointed. Their menu has changed. Their prices have gone up. On the menu it says to request gluten free injera. I'll know in a few hours whether all of their injera is gluten free like it used to be and/or if the server spoke enough English to understand what I asked for. They also charged us extra for the injera without mentioning the charge on the menu, and charged for 4 pieces when we only got 3. There are other amazing restaurants nearby. Surprising find! My brother took me here for my birthday. I've never had Ethiopian food, But WOW! I love it! Not much to look at from the outside but clean, understated and elegant on the inside. The "wife" as the owner referred to her, took amazing care of us. Showing me how to eat the food with the bread. The honey wine was delicious and she even brought out other meat dishes for us to try. Then gave us complimentary dessert with the kind words "Welcome home." Our total bill was ridiculously low, Under 30 for comb #2, two beers and a honey wine. We will make this pilgrimage at least once a month. Though we would go more often if we were closer (Snoqualmie and Covington.) read more
