Their carrot cake did a pretty decent job of tasting both fresh and not mass produced. Not the strongest endorsement, I know... But it was pretty tasty! I then told the barista that I ordered an extra large as I always do. The barista who i spoke with identified herself as 'breanna' and immediately started to get angry with me. She said that I got a large because they only have a large for that beverage. I asked breanna what she could do about this as I was in a rush and had a work appointment shortly. Breanna again said that it was normal to give a smaller beverage than ordered and that this beverage only came in large. Having been to starbucks from China, England all over the USA, Toronto etc I was very surprised at her attitude towards me. Generally starbucks has excellent service. I asked to speak with a manager. Breanna told me that she was in charge until tomorrow and that I could come back then. I told Breanna that I was too busy for this and would just like my money back and to go. Breanna then asked to take the beverage from me. I was surprised as I wanted to leave at this point. I told Breanna that I needed something as I had to leave. Breanna then said that I sounded like I was trying to obtain a free drink. I was shocked that a store employee would say this to a customer. I am a great customer at starbucks and have been for over 10 years. I invite starbucks to review my payment history. I have been a gold member for 10 years and have almost never received a refund (as their has rarely been a need). I do not know why this happened. I always thought they trained starbucks employees better than this however I can't confirm that my ethnicity was not a factor in breanna's attitude.
