Sioban came to our house last year to work with our 14 month old boxer/shepherd rescue, Lucy. Our vet recommended her. We were skeptical because we'd been through two other dog training sessions with other places - one from the shelter and one through another company. The shelter teacher was nice, but she couldn't/wouldn't handle any dog in the class except the "A" student. The other group lessons we tried were way too crowded to get any real help. After all that, Lucy was hard to walk on the leash, jumping on people, stealing food off the counters, basically a real pain. Sioban showed us how to work with Lucy to get her to be a great dog. She would first demonstrate and tell us what she was doing and why. Then she'd have us do it and would coach us through. She makes it look really easy, but when you try it's actually pretty hard! She was really patient with Lucy and us. On top of that, she's very funny (my husband thinks she should do stand up) and Lucy adored her -- Lucy hates car rides (weird, I know) but she tried to jump into Sioban's car at the end of our first session! We would feel inspired after every session. She worked with us four times and we were really sorry to see her go. A year later we still quote her and have recommended her to three other friends, who've all used her and loved her. Let's face it, "dog" training is really "owner" training, so you might as well go with someone who knows what they're doing and who likes dogs and people. read more
