After a quick stop at the dentist, I decided I wanted to venture downtown and try a new place. Why not! Since the temp high was forecasting around 64 degrees, and it was a bit chilly walking around in a short sleeve tee, I knew Hemmingway's was the perfect answer! Great place to curb my pre-cold-fall grumpies. Teresa is a friendly, personable owner; her, and the gentleman working. The space is small and quaint, so easy to chitchat. The decor and accessories scream Parisian Life. Dark metal meets pastel and white wood. I love that the "Favorites" drinks' names pay homage to famous Persians of the 1920s. The chai was wonderful. Besides the milk-based Oregon Chai used here, mixing it up with hot chocolate was such a treat! Creamy and delish. Not water-based like Starbucks. A sprinkle of coco and cinnamon was a great touch. I also went for their 16oz Chocolate Chai and the displayed vanilla coconut cupcake. The dessert was very good and rich. I couldn't finish it all. Note to self, for next time. Definitely a great sweet buzz to pick you up on a boring work afternoon! There is a small framed chalkboard with their food options, which are in the cold casing. Not a huge selection, but perfect for people who want a quite bite to eat. Coffee/espresso drinks are their forte, and I love how they concentrate on that! read more

This is my new favorite coffee shop! It's small and charming. The owner is so nice. I ordered an iced 'ode to paris' latte and my husband got a seasonal lavender latte and they were so delicious. Every drink on the menu sounded fantastic and so I will have to keep coming back! There is also some light snacks--bagels, muffins, etc. We got a chocolate muffin and a blueberry bagel, both yummy! They also sell chocolate covered coffee beans, which are my husband's favorite so we had to get some and they are great! Parking can be a bit of an issue, since this is downtown. There is the commons parking garage right across the street but you will be paying $3+ for the parking convenience, which is a little pricey for grabbing a quick coffee. But don't let that stop you from trying this place out! No regrets! read more

I didn't know this place existed until I started working in the area! Love this spot. Nice and cosy with a ton of drink options, from more traditional coffee and tea to fancier drinks. I was completely overwhelmed when I first visited, from the beautiful decor to the huge selection of drinks. They even have some sweets there (I got cookies and they were yummy!) if you're at the Columbus Commons, make sure to walk to the alley (headed toward Third) and visit them in the big office building. read more

This coffee shop is indeed an adorable little nook, tucked away on the ground floor of an office building. We went looking for it on a Saturday morning, and were very confused when entering through the revolving doors on the corner of 3rd and Town. The security guard behind the desk directed us around the corner, and -- et voila! -- la petite parisienne cafe! Seating is certainly limited, but the decor all points to 1920s Paris. Even the drinks are named after famed literati who were known to have spent time in France, including James Joyce, Gertrude Stein and (obviously) Ernest Hemingway. Several books by these and other Paris-friendly writers peek out among other ornamentation, and there's something convincingly quaint about the environment that makes you want to put pen to paper. I personally had a caramel latte (a "Hadley's High Rise"), while my girlfriend decided on a London Fog. Both drinks were tasty, though the London Fog was too hot to drink for a few minutes, and even too hot to comfortably carry (even with a sleeve). None of the pastries looked overly appealing to us, so we skipped those, and then decided to sit outside, since all the indoor seats were taken. Unfortunately, the outside seating was all tied up in cordage, so we ended up walking around the Commons instead. All told, the size, atmosphere, and adorableness of Hemingway's Coffee Nook warrants repeated returns, though it's not the easiest to get to as a casual place to drop by, and the limited seating is slightly prohibitive. But all told, it's a great place that all coffee, tea, and literature lovers should visit at least once. read more

You're hearing about how cozy it is...or maybe how delicious the pastries are or how excellent the coffee... I had no clue Hemingway's was right on the Commons until I was scrolling through my Yelp feed and saw a check in! I'm the summertime I'm down here all of the time so I'm pretty stoked to have a cool coffee shop so close to the park. Saturday morning before getting ready for the Buckeye game festivities I stopped in to see what Hemingway's is all about. They have great reviews so far and I've been wanting to see the new Coffee Trail places ( several new cool places to check out, by the way). The barista working was awesome and I LOVE the cozy space with French style decor. The drinks are fitting with the whole novel theme as well which is pretty neat. I tried one of the specialty drinks, which was delish! They had several different baked goods to choose from, including the most delicious bagels ever! It was frigid out that morning but I can't wait to enjoy a morning on the little patio area right on the park when spring comes!! read more

I can see why people had a hard time finding a parking spot if your driving here, it can get busy here. Once you find this cute little shop, its many delights follow closely. The barista was friendly, helpful, and seemed knowledgeable about the product. He figured out good matches from their menu for our variety of tastes. We all got iced drinks because it was so hot outside. I got the dark chocolate and mint latte, the name of which I can't remember, iced with almond milk. Delicious! Not too sweet, but sweet enough. The iced Americano was extremely smooth and refreshing as well. They have a great selection of pastries and bagels, but we had just eaten. I will have to try some treats next time! read more

I did not think I would make it to this place when it said I had arrived at my location and didn't see a single sign anywhere. I ended up parking on High Street and cutting through the Commons (which I will just do next time instead of circling!). The place inside was so nicely decorated and I wished I had more time to sit and read but I grabbed an iced blackberry lavender white mocha and a 1/4 pound of a mix of milk chocolate, dark chocolate and cheetah-covered espresso beans. The drink was perfect for a humid day and I had to make sure the bag was out of reach while I was driving. Hemingway's is exactly what you want in a coffee shop: friendly staff, cute and comfortable vibe, affordable prices and GREAT coffee. No powder mixes here, so you can basically order drinks however you want them (I only do decaf, so this is important to me). I come here often since I work in the building, and the experience is consistently great. It's a good place to sit and get some work done or meet with someone, but it's a little noisy for phone calls. If you're looking for a treat, try the java chip blended drink -- it's so good! read more

I love Hemingway's Coffee Nook and I wish I could go there all the time! You are greeted warmly each time you visit and the staff is top notch! The seasonal drinks are delicious, although I do miss the Highlander Grogg Latte they had a few years back. It's located at the back end of the building between 3rd and the Commons parking garage. It's tucked in there but look for the tiffany blue patio furniture! Parking is the only issue with this location. There are only 3 or 4 meters around the building, other wise it's a parking garage which can be inconvenient when you just want a good cup of coffee. Come to find out from a friend who works in the building that those meters get swapped up each morning to people who work in the building and then they just go out to put change in all day. That isn't even fault of Hemingway's, that's poor building management. The meters should be monitored! read more

I absolutely love Cafe de Nook. Although it can be daunting to find the destination makes the journey all worth it. Smiling faces fill your vision as your nose is blasted by the unforgettable smells of antique novels slightly masked by the sweet aroma of coffee brewing. This is a quaint little locally owned coffee shop with an adorable French flair to the decor. I got a regular coffee (the house brew) and it was quite good. I had my coffee in a mug ($2) and hung out reading for a few hours. The woman working the counter (I think it might have been the owner judging off of other reviews) was kind and told me if I wanted a top off or to try the other brew I was welcome to it. Next time I'm in town I'll stop in again and try one of their hand-crafted drinks. I will say that this location and the size of the shop definitely caters more to those grabbing something on the go, but the decor is very lovely either way. It's tucked away inside the Columbus commons building and the only issue would be parking considering there are only a couple meters out from, and seem to always be taken up. A pleasant place to sit and enjoy a snack also. There'a a nice space outside facing Columbus Square with a few tables. I had two lattes (one in house and one to go). Finally made it down to this adorable Parisian inspired café! This place is so cute, and has so many good coffee's and pastries. You've got to check it out! or I could have spent so much more time here, the staff were nice and friendly, and explained the whole menu to me because there are so many choices, I had a hard time deciding. Finding this place can be a bit of a challenge, so I've left some pictures of the office building that it is tucked inside up to help you. I parked at a meter on town Street, super convenient. If they are not available, there is parking in the Columbus Commons garage. I definitely recommend checking out this cute little spot, and giving yourself more than just the 10 minutes I had. I went to this gem cafe this morning, without my friend i wouldn't know where this was at, but now that i do o boy so happy for finding this place. I walked there, but did see that there is street parking and is a good place to walk to, just right behind the columbus commons. I ordered the ode de paris and betty delicious, and just enough caffeine to get my morning started. The cafe itself is super cute inside lots of looks of paris decore, very cute place. It has been so long since I have been able to take a seat at a coffee shop. Our lives are always on the go. I thought that would be the same here but as soon as you walk in....there is this air of serenity that makes you want to just take a seat. The menu has a nice variety. You have your Lattes, cappuccino and espresso with the flavored syrups to personalize your drink. The prices are around what most are use to paying for a coffee shop coffee. What makes this place so different? You literally feel like you have stepped into a small piece of Europe, where they take time to appreciate a great shot of espresso, or crafted cappuccino. This place is definitely a hidden gem in Columbus. You definitely forget that it is attached to a large office building. Forget the to go order. Hemingway's is such a delight, but in a horrible location. I get what they're going for with it being a coffee "nook" but in reality it's just straight up inconvenient. Tucked behind the trash cans for Columbus Commons, not only do you have to walk by smelly trash but you also have to find a meter for parking or pay the $5 for a garage. Yikes already. Seating is cozy but limited. I loved the Parisian vibes, and enjoyed a delicious iced latte and everything bagel outside on their very small patio. I really wanted to love this place. It's an independent shop, the owner is really lovely, and it is a really great little coffee shop. But, unfortunately, not "great" coffee. Just good, or adequate. I ordered a cappuccino, received a 12 ounce cup filled to the top (after the standard 2x shots of espresso) with mostly milk and a topping of foam. This is a latte. The owner was gracious enough to remake the drink for me (yes, I asked nicely and tactfully) :-) ......and then I still could barely taste the espresso through the greater amount of milk. Additionally, the milk was "cooked" as it tasted that it had been heated well past 165F......so, a little bit of a cardboard flavor, not the sweet caramelized flavor in a well made cappuccino. Again, very nice place to go, really quite nice owner, just the coffee that I had was below expectations. read more
