P&S Pizza House has been holding down Clinton since 1963, and it shows--in the way only a true…read morelegacy shop can. It's older than half the street, probably tougher than the other half, and still throwing food like it's trying to win a championship. Nothing here feels phoned in; everything feels earned. The calzone is a whole situation. A full-size one isn't a meal, it's a dare. Unless you're Adam Richman on a bender or you've recently completed some kind of spiritual fast in the desert, do not attempt it solo. It's enormous, it's packed to the edges, and it could feed two people comfortably--or three if they're the type who claim they're "not that hungry" and then eat half your fries. The pizza is classic Greek style done with the confidence of a place that's been doing it longer than some countries have had stable governments. The sauce hits exactly where it should, the cheese has real personality, and the toppings don't just sit there--they participate. In Clinton, you're not finding a better, more consistent pizza experience unless you start hallucinating one. And then there's the bottled craft cream soda. Forget the beige, timid stuff you see everywhere else. This one hits your tongue like it's launching a political campaign--loud, charismatic, and fully committed to winning your vote. It opens with a blast of sweetness and then leaves you floating in a vanilla afterglow that feels borderline spiritual. The shop itself is cozy. You can eat in, but most regulars grab their order to go because they know the drill. Prices are almost suspiciously reasonable for the quality they're putting out. Honestly, they could charge more, but they don't--because they're still operating like a neighborhood place instead of a trend-chasing food lab. If you want pizza from a place that's survived trends, fads, economic nonsense, and the general chaos of the universe without losing its soul, P&S Pizza House is the move.

Clinton is absolutely drowning in places to get a decent sub--sorry, a decent grinder--so honestly,…read moreyou'd have to go out of your way to find something that sucks. Mr. Z's Pizza doesn't just avoid sucking; it clears the bar with room to spare. Yes, it's a pizza place first, but today we're talking sandwiches and pasta, because this shop handles both like they've got something to prove. I went with a pastrami grinder: onions, toasted, mustard, Swiss. This thing came out packed. Flavor on point, execution flawless. The bread had that perfect New England balance--crusty enough to give you a little resistance, not so crusty that you feel like you're gnawing through drywall. They offer two bread options: house-made or frozen/reheated. I went with the latter because the house-made sizes are basically "medium-ish" and "food challenge." The large one could feed two people comfortably, three if they're lightweights. I wanted a clean 8‑inch sub, so premade it was. My wife ordered the ziti and meatballs, and you need to understand something: Mr. Z's is known for its baked pasta. There's a layer of cheese on top thick enough to make all of France weep into its fancy little coffees. Underneath that molten blanket is perfectly cooked ziti and genuinely delicious homemade meatballs. It's the kind of dish that hits you right in the comfort-food cortex. I also know from experience that their Italian sub is dialed in, and the pizza? Fantastic. New England pizza parlors occupy a sacred space that chains simply cannot touch, and Mr. Z's fits right into that tradition. This is the kind of shop where you come for the food and stay for the food because everything they make is just... good. Between Mr. Z's and P&S, Clinton honestly doesn't need another pizza joint or sub shop. And I haven't even gotten to TC Landau's yet.

Great local pizza house. Italian sub/grinder is huge and made on a loaf of Italian bread. Thick cut…read moremeat, but tasty. Staff were friendly. Plenty of space to eat inside.
