I'd first like to say my boyfriend and I have been going to MK for YEARS, before the new paint,…read morebefore the DJ Booth and before they opened the new MK on Charles Street. That used to be our lil hangout. So my review of the 'new and improved' MK may be a little slighted. Okay one, the location of the lounge is pretty nice, off in the cut of Woodlawn and in the corner of a Shopping center. When MK is opened, the only traffic in that shopping center is for Pejus, MK, and maybe a few eateries. There is a HUGE parking lot so parking is never a issue. The line gets long at times, especially since MK is not that big. Bring your ID, they will ask and frisk. The admit price is a little high (compared to what it was a yr ago). Once you get in, there are couches against the walls, tables, and little stools/ chairs closest to the walkway. The music is hiphop/rap exclusively on the Fri/Sat/Holiday nights and really loud. Hookah: The hookahs are large and you can ask for extra hoses (depending on the size of your group plus a extra charge) They don't mind putting ice in the bowl if you ask. The flavors are star buzz and Al Fahkar - both give a full smoke and nice flavor. (I personally recommend Star-buzz - it seems to last a little longer). MY ONLY ISSUE with the Shisha is that some of the back staff don't pack the top bowl where the shisha doesn't get stuck to the foil which will give you a burnt taste after a few pulls. So if you are a hookah smoker - there may need to be a few adjustments during your visit. Drinks: BYOB!!!! I dont really like the {new} system. They check your bottle at the door, put a tag on it basically connecting it to your party, and they take the drink to the 'bar'. Every time you want a drink, you have to go ::let them pour YOUR drink FOR YOU::. Please be reminded, in the state of MD, you cant 'serve' alcohol after 2. Sooooo MAKE SURE YOUR BOTTLE IS GONE BEFORE TWO! After warnings, they will trash it, and NO you can not bring it out...Ultimately its a nice spot to hang on a weekend where you dont feel like going downtown, Pejus or the Windsor. ***NOTE: You CAN go to Pejus and order a hookah in there from MK (Dont let them tell you - you can't, I've done it.)

You bring the party - BYOB (you have to purchase their chasers) and either a shared table or if you're lucky enough, you get your own spot. Went for the first time on a Saturday night and it was ok. Every table was occupied and people seemed to be enjoying themselves. Security took care of us and made sure we had somewhere to sit. The hookah was really strong so expect a buzz and the wings were really good. The service could be better - it's not like they had much to do outside of replacing coals and bringing chasers. The DJ was actually pretty good - atleast I was dancing. Might not be the greatest business model but roughly $100+ to bring your own bottles and smoke their hookah isn't bad compared to regular table service prices of $300+ min for a bottle you can get out the liquor store.

As we stood in the non-existent line we got a peek into the lounge and it was completely empty. My sister and I were only in Baltimore for the night, we had come from a concert. It was around 9:45/10 pm. If we were in DC or southern Maryland at any place that offered good hookah it would have been packed. So this leads me to believe they are taxing customers at this establishment because they don't get many. I looked dark, empty and dingy inside. Not so appealing especially with their price demands. So we decided to call an uber and find somewhere else to go. The security did let us know it was BYOB so if you decide to go her bring your drink and chase of choice.

I had a several questions for 3 different staff members I encountered and they were all happy to answer my questions and had good energy. The burger I got was unique and very much a craft burger. They have a lot of dry-aged meats here (including their burger), and I thought it was good and still a little juicy. The fries were average fries. I also got an orange crush that was also good, a cider, and sampled their slushies. They have a strawberry bourbon slushie I really liked. I would have ordered it but it was strong and I had already gotten the crush, so I'll just have to come back for it. The other slushie was a coffee one and I'm not a huge coffee person, but if you like coffee, you'd probably like that. Children are allowed here until 7 pm I believe. Unfortunately, they do not do tours (anymore). I'd like to see them bring this back because I'm always interested in the process and also hearing about how things are produced. You order food on one side (and can also order cocktails on that side too) but the beers and others are ordered on the brewery side. You're able to open a tab on either side though and it will be connect, so you don't have to do multiple transactions. Cool interior as well.

TINY is one word that comes to my mind when I think of this place. SUPER TINY. It's newly renovated…read moreand has reopened. The website and advertisements say it's a hookah and cigar lounge. That's the main reason we decided to go. The two other people I was with smoke cigars. I don't do neither one (hookah or cigars) but was willing to check it out with them. The owner was super nice and answered all of our questions. So, I would say the service was fine. However, he quickly explained how it was not a cigar lounge because the furniture would not be able to withstand the cigar smell, only the hookah one. There were approximately 10 people in the lounge, which made it "crowded". One thing I noticed was the decor. Nice furnishings and absolutely STUNNING photographs hanging on the wall. It gave a sultry vibe. They don't serve real food there, just bites. However, we didn't really inquire or stay longer than 5 minutes to eat. We had eaten at another location. Overall, if you're into hookah and a lot of smoke everywhere (in a SUPER TINY) local spot, this is your place. I don't see myself returning. There's nothing there for me.

I visited Myste for a private event, and while the space itself is very aesthetically pleasing, the…read moreoverall experience was disappointing, mainly due to the food and service. The lounge is on the smaller side, which actually worked well for the event and gave it an intimate vibe. The owner was also very nice and welcoming, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. The menu is extremely limited, and you pretty much have to piece together a meal from a few items. I ordered the jollof rice and six-piece chicken wings. The wings were overpriced, overcooked, and had no flavor at all. The only options were sauces on the side (honey, ranch, or blue cheese), and when I specifically asked for honey drizzled on top with blue cheese on the side, that request wasn't followed. Even more frustrating, our server never came back to check on us or make sure everything was okay. The jollof rice was honestly the worst part. Instead of that rich, smoky flavor you'd expect, it tasted burnt with a harsh charcoal aftertaste. I've had jollof rice many times before, and this was nowhere close. I ended up sending it back. Because I was hungry, I forced myself to eat the wings, even though they were dry and lacked flavor. Overall, Myste Lounge has a nice look and potential, but the food and service really need improvement. A revamped menu and better attention to guests would make a huge difference.

I'd like to side on the positive. When my cousin arrived, we stored my controversial satchel in the boot of the vehicle and ventured in. The host seated us next to another trio and we shared the low slung table for hookah paraphernalia and drinks. "This place is BYOB". The do have cups of ice in the back. And an assortment of juices, sodas, and teas to cut the alcohol you bring. I enjoyed the music. Hip hop mostly, and very very very loud. Lots of stripper hip-hop the kids are producing these days. There was a few huge TVs in our area as well broadcasting the Lakers beating Golden State in the final quarter. The hats must go off to the waitresses working the hookahs. They were always in the area, checking on progress. Don't be thrown off by the 4 stars. I'm 50, so I'd only come back here if my family decided to. The music and scene isn't classic hip-hop or R&B from the 80s and 90s.
