On our last day in Scotland, we headed in to the town of Stirling to go visit the Stirling Castle. I came across Toast on my Yelp app, and we decided that was exactly what we wanted. GPS drops you off about two doors before the actual location so continue to walk around the bend. The restaurant sits on the corner with a beautiful window view. There are a good amount of tables for the size of the space and seating you can sit to chat or as a single that looks out the window. There is a men and women's bathroom, and inside the women's restroom is a changing station for babies. The staff was very welcoming and kind, the service was fast, and the food was fresh and delicious! What an amazing find and pick. I ordered a latte, and my husband got a cappuccino. We both ordered the same breakfast which was an omelet with goat cheese and spinach. The omelet came with a small green salad, and we ordered a side of toast to split. It was the perfect amount of food. The toast taste so much better than the states. It came with a side of butter and red jam. Maybe raspberry? Whatever it was, we loved it! The goat cheese was smooth and creamy and the greens were refreshing and just plain fresh. Everything tasted better than what you would normally imagine. Breakfast isn't my favorite meal of the day, but the day we dined here it was! The location is only about a ten minutes drive from the castle. If you are in the area, I highly recommend coming here, and if we ever go back to Scotland and are close we will definitely go back as well. I wish I could pick this place up and bring it home with me.

Highly recommend a fast and delicious lunch inside Stirling Castle at the Unicorn Cafe…read more Despite arriving at lunch rush hour (1pm) , the line moved quickly and there were many options for cold sandwiches in a case and hot freshly prepared sandwiches (would definitely go for those) and soups and desserts and four kinds of crisps and lots of beverage choices, alcoholic and non-alcoholic. We had delicious sandwiches heated up that came with small servings of potato salad and green salad: - chipotle chicken with cheese and lettuce on focaccia - 5/5 really a stellar sandwich with wonderful flavors - club sandwich - 4/5 with turkey and bacon and tomato lettuce - this was more of an average sandwich It was fun to sit in a space that used to be stables inside and there are also many picnic tables outside if the weather is good. Super convenient and delicious!

Overall the staff were friendly and did go around cleaning the tables when people were finished eating but for the price, I'd probably have been better off going into Stirling for a meal. My first thought was that the prices are high and the food about average, because of the closeness to such a famous attraction. My expectations were "luckily" not fulfilled :-) When I entered, there was nobody at the counter and a couple was sitting near the window in the adjoining tea room. The place seemed deserted, but "oh mei" was I wrong, Within minutes the tea room filled up with people enjoying an afternoon chat with friends or tourists just getting in from the castle visit, like me. I had to order at the counter and was informed that the scones were sold old. Next choice was a piece of carrot cake and a mug of Hot Chocolate, which by the way was a Cadbury Hot Chocolate (just to point it out, as they appear to be very proud of the Cadbury logo). I took seat at a small table (1-2 people max, but really cute) and attempted my first bite of the carrot cake. What can I say? It was not dry, no, it was soft and juicy with a layer of cream cheese topping. The menu choices are limited, but what you get has substance. The staff is very nice, the prices very accommodating ( a lasagna for abt £4 ?!?) and the place very clean. I went to the toilet and when coming back my table was cleaned and no trace of me remained. Ah well, and so I continued forth on my journey back home.........

It's a lot cheaper than some of the other cafes such Ebulum (previously reviewed). But this is really where its charm lies. The staff here are really friendly, though for a Linlithgow cafe that doesn't seem unusual. It is a tad small, but they make the most of the space. Unfortunately at lunch though this place gets pretty popular. Expect the usual sorts of hot drinks, as well as some snacks ideal for lunch. I had the soup of the day which cost me £2.40. That's pretty good, or at least average, for Edinburgh prices. But the portions were bigger than normal and it was served with decent bread. I like to think we Scots are proud of our soup but you'd be surprised how many times I'm disappointed by the poor quality soup served around Edinburgh! Coffee Neuk didn't disappoint though.

However the only one we did not like surprisingly was the carrot cake. It was just weirdly dense not cakie and like juicy its a bit weird to explain but just wasnt our favorite. Everything else though awesome and the food is just superb! I think my favorite was the vegan fry or haggis toastie if you like a bit of sweet and salty combo! If you go on the weekends however I do recommend having a booking or you most likely wont get in till later in the day. I'll miss you hideaway the best food!

Having had brunch here previously, heading here for lunch was something I was excited about. It was very busy this time round so service was understandably a little slower. We did have a short wait for a table but it really wasn't long till we were seated considering it was peak lunching hour. Oh my word. Sandwich heaven. I had the bacon and mozzarella baguette with hot salsa and guacamole and it was absolutely delicious. Lots of cheese, lots of bacon, lots of yum. The Hideaway is just the perfect spot for tea and cake, I definitely want to sample their baked goods soon. Very, very soon!

Café 33 it is then! I wandered in to chalkboards, quirky signs and LOTS of Christmas decorations. ('Tis the season to be jolly and all!) It's eclectic and quirky! - Maybe a little bit much for some but I really loved the vibe. To me it felt very much like an old style cafe where you could sit and wile away the hours over a tea and cake. And there's lots of cake! Including gluten free options! They all looked delicious! The boards boast their gluten free meals and they aim to offer low-fat dishes where possible! I'm not sure if it's somewhere I'd head for an evening meal but as it got closer to 5, Café 33 showed no sign of getting quieter. It was bustling! And service was fast and friendly despite this. Whilst the cakes were tempting, I opted for my usual. (Chai latte, if you're asking!) I find that larger coffee chains can be a little too generous with the syrup and make theirs sickly sweet but Café 33's was a perfect mix of frothy milk, lovely chai tea and a generous dusting of cinnamon. Just the right amount of sweetness! So much so that I had a second! I'm sure I'll be back soon for my third!

It was agonising to have to make a choice!!! If I lived in Bridge of Allan I would make a point of visiting this cafe every week to try a bit of everything! There are savoury snacks and light lunches available too of course. I embarrassed myself hugely by knocking my full latte over the table and floor - what a mess!! The owner came over and quickly cleaned the table and floor before bringing me another latte - which she didn't add to the bill. Needless to say I was very apologetic and grateful. Definitely a lovely little cafe - and I can't recommend those wonderful cakes highly enough!!!

I had the seafood platter which was huge, as in I struggled to finish it. (Obviously did). No half-portions here, 5 or 6 prawns, a huge helping of salmon, same with the mackerel pate and some incredible oatcakes with salad and dressing. The Dear Green coffee was bitter and black and just how I like it. My heart did want the Salted Caramel Cake with popcorn but it looked slightly too sickly. I opted for a classic brownie and was not disappointed. My friend's meringue with fruit compote and cream was mammoth! Well worth a drive, you can pre-book tables which I would definitely advise. This location is a little easier to get to as it's situated in Killearn town hall. Arriving at just before 2, the immediately obvious difference between the 2 locations was that this is much busier than Quarriers. The place was mainly occupied by the lunching ladies of sub-suburbia, save for the odd lunching worker/working luncher. Due to the lunchtime rush the staff seemed to be a wee bit stretched, (the poor folk next to me had to ask for a latte a couple of times before the server came back to say she'd forgotten what they'd asked for), but thankfully I had no problems with the service. I had the tasting platter at the Quarriers location, so of course I ordered it again (after all it was tasty!). When it came out it looked the same, but somehow it was lacking some of its previous magic. Of course I couldn't leave without trying one of their amazing looking cakes from the counter, I went with the flourless tangerine cake (yes it is GF), which was fragrant and not too dry, it had a texture not totally dissimilar to polenta cake. Now it maybe second season syndrome or it could just be a matter of over familiarity, but there does seem to be something missing from Quarriers in this location. I don't know whether it was down to the time of day (I visited Quarriers towards the quieter end of lunch), the fact that this is a somewhat new cafe or down to the glass & white wall environs, as I said it just wasn't the same.. Don't let that put you off trying the place out though, it's still a good cafe, serving good food & the view out across the hills is really beautiful (especially with all the snow). If I taste not time were the issue I'd choose Quarriers Village over Killearn, but otherwise you'll probably choose Killearn for its convenience & almost as good food.

Presentation was excellent and food had lots of flavor. The coffee was also tasted good (no sugar or cream). I have been back a few times and the server (I believe he is the owner) has been helpful and quick to bring the desired food and drink. We will be back as it is already one of favorite local cafes. Pricing is moderate - but worth it.
