This is usually the kind of place that I'd be tempted to ignore for a more quaint experience, but in all honesty I was desperate for something to eat and so couldn't be too choosy. I must say, I'm glad I went for it. Inside the decor is a little confusing, it's loosely dressed up as a kind of Mediterranean style cafe, where really all we're talking about here is a glorified greasy spoon.
The staff are pretty friendly, they seemed bemused by my huge Sony Alpha camera and made a few jokes about my taking their picture. Service was quick and efficient, I ordered a large bacon sandwich, which arrived in 5 minutes, and it was humungous! The bread was essentially a gigantic teacake shaped bun and I had three healthy bits of bacon inside. Yum. It was awesome. The cup of tea was a little more of a sorry state of affairs, clearly a tescos own tea-bag or some other non-Yorkshire-non-Twinnings effort, which wasn't quite so pleasing. But then, I am a *total* tea snob.
Amongst other breakfast style greasy offerings this place also does breakfast cereals, those mini children's sized kelloggs packets in fact, little cakes, spam sandwiches (totally needed to mention those - eugh!) and a special children's choice of chicken nuggets/fish fingers/sausages with chips, beans and a mini juice! I might suggest this as a 'treat' rather than a staple, but then any decent adult would surely think the same. You can even grab a roast here on Sunday for £4.50.
Honest, decent and definitely the cheap cheerful option, I really enjoyed my little visit here. Can't say it'll be here every time I visit Pudsey, but not a bad place at all. read more
