A cool, upscale place to get a drink (or some food, maybe coffee) I was only here for a drink... The bar I wanted to visit didn't work out, and on a whim, after seeing people outside drinking a curious purple liquid I decided to stop in. Apparently, there is a terrace, but I didn't know at the time. There's definitely are at least two levels, with a lounge in the second. Looking through their cocktail menu, I found that they definitely don't want to be boring with their offerings. There was a whole page of slightly different Gin and Tonics! However, I must say they are expensive (cocktails, not just G & Ts) Anyways, being curious about that purple liquid I saw, I decided to try the Violet Spritz. The drink came out pretty quick. It cost 6 euro something. I think maybe a little steep, but better than 12 that the cocktails cost. Worth it. It was just the right blend of sweet, bubbly, and alcoholic (not too strong, not too weak). I also lived the tiny Violet petals on the bottom of the glass. They were edible too! Touristy location, but a quick spot to get a drink with a view. I did choose to sit on the street level because you really get to see more of the hustle bustle. Its inside the Hotel Lamée. As other reviews mention, typical central pricing ~$15-20/glass of champagne or cocktail. I was able to get a very light salad that really did have a nice taste. The booths on the street are comfortable, so if you need to get off your feet it's a great spot. Otherwise, nothing much else to report. Staff wasn't overly nice and it didn't wow me, but I'm glad I stopped in for a short light lunch and refreshing glass of champagne on a warm day. read more

Upscale bar/restaurant where you can overwatch the city during the night and people watch to your hearts content while having dinner. The service was nice, and quick, the food was alright, but you are mostly there for the inmate drinking and views looking down into the main street. read more

We wanted to go to the rooftop bar at the Hotel Lamee for a late night cocktail. When we go there we were informed that the rooftop bar closes at 8 PM and that no one would sit outside at this time of the year anyway. Well, I think if there were heat lamps, people would be willing to be outside. It's not winter yet. Anyways, so we stayed the Cafe Bloom for a glass of wine. The first floor is more like a lounge type place and the ground floor has more like a cafe but had music. Upstairs was mellow. The wine was good. It's a little pricey (EUR 5.50 for a glass of Sauvignon Blanc). For some reason it was incredibly hot on the first floor, making it a bit uncomfortable. The wait staff was a bit slow but it was packed. Most people who were there dressed up and I really appreciated that. And it is NON-SMOKING! Yay! read more

Good view but quite crowded and slightly over priced. This seemed like a trendy spot to go for a top level view of the city. We waited 10 minutes for a seat. This is really just a place to have a quick roof top drink to say you did it. The take away is that I have been to better bars but this one was just ok. If you are looking for a place to drink it it as good as any. read more

I LOVE IT, to put it simply. I really like the location and the outside seating, they really made an effort to make it different to the normal outside seating style of Vienna, yet it still fits into the general feel and style that Vienna has. It is more expensive and fancy than most place, but location is everything. I can certainly see myself there again, accept next time i need to some some of the Yelp girls with me. ;) My Personal points system out of 10, standard for Vienna is 5. I love this place. Downstairs (I'm talking street-side) the seating is very cool, the servers are super friendly, and the drinks are well-made. Upstairs (I mean really upstairs...like on the roof) you have all the same amenities of this well-run establishment - only it comes with a totally awesome view of St. Stephen's Cathedral and central Vienna. And they have canopies to deflect the direct sun on a hot day. This is a great chill spot .... and when I take friends visiting Vienna to Café Bar Bloom's Dachterrace , they are always impressed. Seeing people people-watching on the 2nd floor of Cafe Bar Bloom caught our attention because we wanted to do that too! I could only speak for the bar scene as we went there on a Saturday night. The bar on the second floor is chic and posh, but what draws anyone's attention is the top-to-bottom glass panel. One can seat facing the glass and enjoy the Viennese street scene. Or one can meet up with friends and have conversation over drinks. We had a friendly hostess, who checked in with us every so often. We indeed sat facing the glass panel, enjoying our view with an organic beer (tasted like pale ale) and Gaumenfrizz cocktail (Gin, Frizzante, Gaumengut). Prices are on the higher end but still fair, and for a bar, they close early (midnight). read more

A very accidentaly, but very happy find! In fact, it was not even added yet into Yelp, so I hesitate to share it all with you versus keeping it as my secret little place... along with everyone else that was keeping this place packed when I was there in middle of the week in the evening :) In the heart of tourist downtown Vienna, where I have yet to be impressed with the culinary scene, as it is surprising less existant than everywhere else in Vienna, this place was not small, but had a cute, cozy small place feel to it; divided in a bar stool drinking area downstairs, a dining area with limited tables upstairs, and another section upstairs of couchie cafe where you can people watch those walking below. I would say the prices are on the middle higher end, you can spend 15 to 20 Euros here for drink and food. Imagine you pay 5 Euros for tea or a wine, and 10 Euros for a cocktail. However, you come for the food and the service. Every single waiter there, and Daniel, who runs the place, were friendly in a humble way, interested to strike a short, friendly conversation and let you smell the different teas they offer, even though they know you are only drinking liquor that night. There is a sense that they care about what they serve, and they care about each of their customers individually. They even let people take their glasses of wine outside for a smoke (was not smokey inside at all). The other item is their menu. It is quite interesting, including the delicious deer sandwitch I had. They have butternut squash, and quail, pork belly and beef in tabaco sauce, etc. So yes, they stand out with their distinct menu, cute atmosphere (defintely good first date potential in the dining area; make a reservation; there are not so many tables), and great service. The bathroom is also one of the best in terms of feel and cleanliness I have experienced in Vienna. Yes, I would go there just to wash my hands. A plus note also is their website. It is very user friendly, in multiple langues, and you get to see the menu in complete. Only two down points: 1. The sandwich of my friend and I were not made fresh to serve (they had been in the display, and it was around 19:30), and the stools were we were at were very high with a big round pillow seating, which is not the most comfortable for girls in dresses and heels. This is not the situation at the couchie cafe or dining part. Overall: Worth the great service and culinary experience! However, if I go, and you've taken the last seat, I'm sitting with you!!!! The manager was a disrespectful prick. I ordered two margaritas and they were the grossest drinks and they took it back and still charged us for it instead of accommodating us with a new one. He asked "have you ever had a margarita?" As if I never order them. The waiter that works there was very sweet but the manager was disgusting and has a nasty attitude. I was with a group of friends and he ruined our night. We wanted to sit and enjoy our night..but it was completely ruined. read more
