I was wandering round the Peak District with my family as a mini-break from our big vacation (read upcoming family wedding). My buddy and his girlfriend opened a cafe about a year ago and after some extensive goggle mapping, I realised I was a 20 minute drive from them. Aptly named "Cafe Adventure" we set off to walk in as a surprise guest, just dropping in (from Hong Kong)... Also, we were starving.
The cafe has a homey feel to it with wooden tables, mismatched chairs. For me, the selling point on venue is the outdoor space. With tables, chairs and an awning you can happily enjoy the British weather with a side of coffee.
We ordered a range of breakfasts, from English fry ups (complete with black pudding) to sausage sandwiches to crumpets. All the ingredients were fresh with that gorgeous local feel to it. I found the bread (baps and bloomers) are sourced from a bakery in Sheffield. Err, hello and yes please. I was the sausage sandwich recipient and gobbled this down without a second thought. Coffee is also good here and my family went for a couple of rounds.
Value add - ask Bill (my pal) for some local walks. He and his partner, Rachel, are avid cyclists full of local knowledge. Bill sent us off (with a car load of baked goods too, hello sultana flapjacks) to Mom Tor for a little stroll and some beautiful views.
Although I may be slightly biased with my review, as a tourist to the area, Cafe Adventure is the perfect spot for a coffee and a good slice of British cuisine whilst on a tour of the Peak District. read more
