Food Standards Hygiene RATING: 5/5
All we wanted was coffee for us and drinks for the kids.
We were greeted by a charming lady, who said our request was no bother.
Two Cokes, a cappuccino, and a Americano with milk.
Cokes £2.60 each - a tad excessive
Cappuccino - £2.65
Americaono -£2.40
Total = £10.25 (not calculated until I left the place, over a week later...)
All arrived OK. My coffee was fine quite frothy with a good dose of chocolate powder on top.
Now the next bit is where things go awry. To me, customer service is paramount, as was demonstrated by the lady who greeted us at the door.
So, when I asked a passing waiter for the bill, I expected to get the bill. He went back from the kitchen to the front of house bar area. No bill.
Next I asked a young chap for the bill (£10.35), which he got for me and disappeared. Once he was back I offered him a £20 note. He tried to provide change, but hadn't enough.
He took me to the first I had previously asked, and he was scratching around for change. At which point I said, give me the £20 back, and I'll pay by card. I was totally ignored, and given change, allegedly in my favour as if the bill was £10.30. OK. No thank you, no sorry for the trouble, no eye contact, no smile.
Look folks. Get real. Customer service is important, it is not limited to the fact that you decided to wave 5p, the whole package is important.
Will I return to this one? No. Will I boycott all Cafe Rouges? No. read more
