We got the avocado toast with poached eggs and feta cheese, scrambled eggs and crispy bacon, and croque monseiur. The avocado toast was perfect and the eggs were runny, the scrambled eggs were cooked mediumrare which Ioved, and the croque monseiur was cut in little finger sandwich slices! My favorite part of my morning is my coffee, and this cafes iced coffee was delicious. Five stars for the coffee, not too mention they had a nice selection of coffees in general. My husband and I shared the berry pancakes the granola yogurt bowl and a side of turkey bacon. Turkey bacon was delicious crispy and Smokey the pancakes were ok a little dry and not very fluffy but still good I'd give them 3.5 out of 5 stars not bad but not amazing. And the yogurt bowl was great 4 out of 5 stars great portion lots of fruit granola and nuts. read more

Another winner! The food is exceptionally worth it for such a small 'neighborhood' cafe. As always, I can pick this place apart but generally, I won't. The menu is European and varied, the food, served quickly. They are a bit understaffed, but generally the hustle to make up the difference. Both inside and outside seating, nice, rustic tables and an eclectic mix of design make for a delight without pretense. Since our rental is around the corner, we have been here three times and are happy to have a starting point for the morning! I would highly recommend the eggs Benedict as well as the truffle mushrooms on toast. Basically this is a good start for any day, it's also nice to sit out and people watch a bit. I truly feel that this is less touristy and more for the functional community. Still a great stop. read more

This is a great little italian café! We loved the atmosphere! It's relaxed, the owner is chatting with everyone and making jokes. There are a lot of regular clients here. It proves people come back again and again. It's not a big surprise. Came here for a breakfast on a Saturday morning on a Kensington local recommendation. Its small but perfectly formed. We were extremely lucky in that we managed to get a table for three after just walking in. If you can get a seat oh my god its so worth it so I'd suggest you wait if you can. Had the bacon butty and a pink grapefruit juice. The juice was fresh. The toasted bacon butty was DELICIOUS!!! Lightly toasted with the butter melting and then the bacon. It was super good. The staff are really nice, the decor is FAB, rustic tables matched with black chandeliers and wine bottles along one of the walls. I was going to give this a four but after thinking about my visit I've no reason not to give this a five. If I ever stay in Kensington again I'll definitely come back :) read more

Café Phillies came recommended both by folks at my hotel as well as on Yelp. The menu looked great, so my coworker and I went to check it out. There are quite a few different options on the menu, but I was drawn to the Benedicts. You can get a Classic, a Florentine, or a Royale, or you can be super hardcore and get a Mama Mia which combines all 3. I was feeling hardcore and opted for the Mama Mia, which added spinach, mushrooms, and smoked salmon to the standard poached eggs and Hollandaise sauce. I was really glad I went for the hardcore version, as it was superb! The eggs were poached perfectly, the Hollandaise sauce had a great flavor, and the salmon, spinach, and mushrooms complemented it amazingly well. The mushrooms in particular had a very nice texture and flavor, and I was quite happy that it came with a generous portion. They offered fresh squeezed grapefruit juice to drink, and it was some of the best grapefruit juice I have had in quite some time. Everything about the breakfast was fresh and tasty, and I was quite satisfied! The restaurant had a very cool vibe, with an open air feel and a casual yet nice ambiance. The food was very fresh and priced as one would expect for a fancier breakfast, and the service was fast and efficient. We were lucky to get a table as it was very busy when we arrived and mostly people from around the area which was a good sign. Tables are small and depending on where you sit it can feel cramped. There is seating outside. A well laid out menu which isn't cluttered with too many options, I am not sure I picked the best dish with the feta and tomato omelette but I am told the sausages were excellent and the bacon the same. The juices are all fresh and run through a massive juicer behind the counter. Service charge is added to the final bill. read more

I first stumbled into this charming little café, a bumbling and lost jet-lagged American who hadn't slept or eaten more than a Larabar* in 40 hours. I may have flung the doors open and simply stood there wild-eyed. I'm not sure. I am, however, sure that the food here is very tasty and veg*n friendly, and the staff is very kind. I sat outside, read my book, drank my coffee and felt a little more human. I brought my sweetheart back the next day - it was surprisingly easy to find again with a little sleep and food under my belt. I had the chickpea and couscous salad, my omnivorous sweetheart had the goat cheese and Mediterranean vegetable sandwich, and we were both well-sated and happy. The first time I went here I was new to London and a lost tweenager trying to find her ways in a big new city. I found it by accident actually since I live close to there and just walked around. Great little local cafe that is always bustling with people. The atmosphere is great and the staff are friendly and attentive. It is not what I would call a quiet cafe nor would I come here with a laptop to get work done but it is a great place for breakfast or lunch. The mezze platter is delicious as is the halloumi salad.
