    Great atmosphere with lovely decor. I enjoyed sitting down for a meal. The food is good! I really enjoyed the sweet chili shrimp and the virgin pina colada is amazing! I didn't really care for the seasoning on the calamari but my mom didn't mind it. I love all the food options, a good amount to choose from. Definitely a great place to stop for dinner.

    I came here with my friend and we absolutely loved the interior decor and the wait staff were so kind and accommodating. We ordered six tapas as there was a three tapas for 17 pounds lunch deal going on. We ordered the pimiento peppers, the mussels, the paella tapa, the eggplant dish, the croquetas and the plate with the black pudding.

    This is my new favourite restaurant on George street. The food is absolutely delicious and although small tapas servings, I recommended the meatballs, it was all very filling and delicious. The ambiance of the restaurant was warm, relaxed and friendly and service was good. I would highly recommend!!

    Food was so good here! Everything was amazing. Service was also good place was super busy but the food came out quickly. It was really big inside and felt comfortable.

    Great tapas spot near princes street. Come in a large group, so you can order more menu items. We came here for late night dinner (like close to closing at 9:30 pm), so we weren't hungry enough to order a full paella, but the paella tapas did not disappoint. They also make a mean sangria and have a nice selection of draft beer.

    I've been waiting a few days for the opportunity to spend a couple of hours here and it did not disappoint! I got the Tapas for anchovies which were just like the ones I had in Spain and then I had a shrimp dish with garlic and then a lamb dish with a little bit of cinnamon in it which was excellent. Started it off with some sangria and just to let you know it has a little bit of fizz in it but was very good. Place has a very nice bar and a great ambience if you happen to be on a date or meeting with folks. It is situated in a great location and the people inside are so friendly so if you have time to speak some Spanish, you are all set.

    Really 3.5, but I think it's probably worth a visit if you're not in the mood for more Scottish food while in Edinburgh. We came our first night and shared some tapas. Not a lot, and I would have liked to have tried some other dishes, such as the paella and jamon. The ones we had were good, and the service was pretty good. We also got seated quickly, and the atmosphere was interesting and fitting for tapas. We shared the meatballs (a little dry), croquettes, tagine of lamb (a little short on lamb), prawns in garlic and coriander, and goat cheese with orange and chili marmalade (phenomenal). Again, not a lot, but for us it was good.

    Very few places open this late, especially on a Sunday. Found Andaluz and it ended up being such a lovely evening. Rohid went above and beyond to make sure our meal was spot on. Rhoid made our night!

    This was totally passable, but nothing to write home about. The best tapas were the chorizo al vino and gambas pil pil.

    Sunday tapas for 2 we're more than enough for 3 ladies. Lamb dish and goat cheese and tomato special were the hi lights.

Came by on our first night in Edinburgh with my boyfriend because of some decent yelp reviews and we weren't disappointed. The host/server (manager? owner?) took the time to explain ALL of the dishes to us, including all of the specials. [sidenote, being from CA, and hearing Catalonian Spanish with a Scottish accent was such a trip.] He presented and explained all of the dishes table side like you expect in a fine dining restaurant, and brought some olives and bread on the house. We had the four specials, papas bravatos (I think) were my boyfriend's favorite, and the Sancho and Calamari were menu staples that were lovely. Everything we had was cooked perfectly to us, and all of the meats so tender. We washed it all down with a liter of sangria, which had cinnamon as a new twist for us. For my main I ordered the Pork Cheeks stew which was recommended by jenny. I went for the medium side but boy it was big! watch out on the sizes if you're having starter tapas too! The stew was basically a big bowl of soup like stew. Not what I was expecting but extremely tasty. I've never had pork cheeks before but the meat was slow cooked and fell away from the fork. Yum! The only thing was the lack of "chunky homemade chips" as described in the menu. There were bits of potato in the stew but chips? Nope. Would I go back? Definitely. The food was authentic and tasty and its really near my work so v handy! It's small but cute with terracotta pots and plants dotted around inside. Quite quaint. If it wasn't for the garlic in the food it would be an ideal date venue! :)

But they call these lessons, "character building," apparently. No matter, the Devil's Advocate is worth the search. Located in an old Victorian pump house halfway up (or down) Advocate's Close, the Devil's Advocate is known for a killer whisky shelf of more than 300 different bottles from various distilleries across the Highlands, Lowlands, Speyside, Campbelltown, the Islands, and Islay. I finally sipped on a 15-year Tamdu that has convinced me to keep a bottle at home. Then there's the Clydeside 2024 Limited Edition Cask Strength that was wicked impressive. The bartenders are class at making and serving seasonal and regular cocktails that have their spin and character. My wife enjoyed gin-based cocktails such as the Clean Slate (with St-Germain, citrus, and sugar), Rose Garden (with Yellow Chartreuse, Cocchi Rosa, apple, lemon, and mint), and Bee's Knees (honey and lemon). I went full speed ahead with the scotch cocktails, which are essentially classics with a scotch-substituted twist. The Double Shot is an Espresso Martini with Dalmore 12 in addition to Kahlua, espresso, and demerara -- quite smooth without being too sweet. The Scotzia is a Negroni with Fettercairn 12, while the Boxcar is a Sidecar only with Aberfeldy 12. We enjoyed the bar for a few hours, watching the bartenders make magic while sipping on cocktails, while listening to 80s pop tunes. A great evening indeed.

As with all tapas, some of the dishes do seem a little overpriced, but when you consider that you'll end up sharing everything it works out as pretty affordable - I paid £17 for two small glasses of wine, a starter and two mains. I'm surprised that others had issues with the service - our waiters were both really attentive and seemed knowledgeable about the dishes on offer, although the restaurant was pretty quiet. There was a summer special for the gin spritz's which are incredible. The staff were all very friendly and professional. Dan the owner of the restaurant also took time to chat with us and tell us a bit more about the restaurant too. On Friday nights they have live music which was really nice to experience. We got the veggie paella, they ask you how many "portions" you want, but it will come in the traditional very wide paella pan! We had three portions, which was more than enough for the 5 of us with some tapas for appetizers. Check out my picture of the paella for reference. For tapas, we tried patatas bravas (potatos), champinones rellenos (cheese stuffed mushrooms), and some tasty shrimp. I can't say the patatas bravas were much to write home about, but the other tapas and certainly the paella and sangria made it worth it. We had a lovely time, got to meet the owner and chef, and celebrated my friend's birthday in fine style. It wasn't too overpriced, but was definitely a bit more expensive than a casual night out. I will likely be back!
