As with all tapas, some of the dishes do seem a little overpriced, but when you consider that you'll end up sharing everything it works out as pretty affordable - I paid £17 for two small glasses of wine, a starter and two mains. I'm surprised that others had issues with the service - our waiters were both really attentive and seemed knowledgeable about the dishes on offer, although the restaurant was pretty quiet. Overall, I'd definitely recommend checking Tapame out, although I'll likely be waiting a while due to the limited menu.

The service throughout was attentive and informative when it came to questions about the ingredients etc. and the range of dishes available is good an varied. You're probably best not sitting by the windows on cold days though as the height of the place means it's a struggle keep it evenly heated (which was probably the case in it's previous incarnation too).

It was the…read morevenue for the "Taste of Scotland" 3 course whisky pairing dinner we signed up for.   As far as the food, the 1st course was a trio medley of duck, trout, and vegetarian haggis.  I never really liked haggis, but this vegetarian version was pretty good I must say.  The 2nd course was a trio medley of venison, chicken, and hake filet.  The dessert course was a sticky toffee pudding.  Besides the two whiskies paired with dinner, we had a choice of a third non-whisky libation and I chose a nice Stewart's Holyrood Scottish pale ale.  The 1st whisky was a delectable Auchentochan Lowland 12 year old single malt to start our dinner.  The 2nd whisky was a delectable Edradour Highland 10 year old single malt which went with the pudding dessert.  The whisky connoisseurs here were informative and engaging, and the meal was tip-top fun and delicious, and particularly so if you're a whisky drinker.

Lest the concept of 'small plates' puts in your mind a vision of a miniscule apertif consisting mostly of two bites, fear not - Indaba's tapas (say that ten times fast) are large enough that you can pass your plate around the table and still have enough mouthfuls to fully appreciate the beauty of the food. I ordered the gambas mixtas (garlic and chili prawns, enormous, juicy and butterflied beautifully) and courgette-wrapped feta, delicately flavored. I also snuck bites of the haggis (truly incredible, and in a Spanish restaurant of all places), the steak, pork ribs and baked goats cheese. They were all spot-on. Wonderfully enough, the food didn't come out all at once, but in well-paced succession so that you never had to fear - the next tasty bite was just around the corner and nothing had time to get cold. The service was friendly and perfectly accommodating to a large party. All that, and reasonably priced (and good) house wine makes Indaba a favorite.

We ordered the patatas bravas, calamari, gambas pil pil (king prawns roasted in olive oil, chilli, paprika and garlic) and pollo y panceta (skewers of chicken, pancetta and red onion marinated in chimichurri, with rocket, pine nuts and chimichurri salsa). I've had patatas bravas many times in Spain so was excited to see this on the menu. Cafe Andaluz's interpretation of patatas bravas is not as authentic. The potatoes were mushier rather than firm. The calamari was lukewarm and tasteless - like I was eating semi fried rubber. The real head scratcher was the pil pil. It looked appealing and promising but the whole dish was tasteless. The shrimp sat in red oil that was tasteless. There was zero garlic flavor. We were perplexed at how something colorful and vibrant would have no taste?! The only thing that truly redeemed this meal was the pollo y panceta. The garnishes and chimichurri helped enhance the dish. So all in all, an overpriced and mostly flavorless tapas late lunch that did **not** meet expectations.
