We of course, vacationed there and found ourselves driving throughout both Kissimmee and it's sister city Orlando. It seemed less developed back then, less populated, and much more spacious land wise. I loved how there was so much green acreage and water just about every where we went! I speak as a Northern Californian tourist who experienced years of drought and seasonal wildfires. But now, after returning many years later on a more recent vacation, it definitely has succumbed into a tourist accommodating area. I was kind of disappointed that my first memories were nothing like it is today. It has become another average, highly populated area with heavy traffic, multitudes of hotels, condos, stores strip malls, restaurants, etc. But who am I to complain? I still enjoyed my vacations to Florida both times, and patronized many a business. If I get the opportunity to return again, I would have no problem going back. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cy1uXxqzMXw

In past trips to the area my main purpose was to attend a conference. This recent trip was a vacation, so we had time to check out the surrounding area. Both of the hotels we stayed at were located in Kissimmee, therefore we had plenty of opportunity to explore. On our agenda was golf, shopping, eating, checking out local pawn shops, thrift stores, and of course Disney. I've covered all of those in great detail in other reviews. As a whole, we thought the city was pretty average. The variety of options to keep yourself entertained is pretty good. However, the quality of the options are either very nice (Disney) or very cheap (Swap Meets/Gift Shops). The main street, 192 aka Vine St, is peppered with tourist trap shopping and dining. Even with a tool like Yelp, it was pretty difficult to find quality options because there aren't very many reviews of places around the area....at least not reviews I could trust. When we were searching for a place to watch the Mayweather vs Canelo fight, I had to rely on good old fashioned phone calls to find a place and it was a chain (Miller's Ale House). I was hoping to find something more local...but was unsuccessful. The historic downtown area of Kissimmee was very cool. With a handful of Antique Stores and a small variety of local food options....I wish it was larger...but definitely a highlight of the trip. The rest of the city that we saw on the 192 looked like any other city. If you're into Thrift Stores and Pawn Shops, there's a lot in a relatively small area so you can bounce between them all and shop them in 1 or 2 days easily. Great selection of goods too (wrote separate reviews for each of them). The golf courses we played we excellent. Would like to try out more next time. Return Factor - 75%

Plenty of room on the way to the park but on the return ride the shuttle was packed like fish. The driver did stop and get out at every stop to get his passengers but he left the bus on the roadside curb, blocking traffic. Pissing one trucker off big time. Free service I'm reminding myself. Will do the same shuttle tomorrow to save cash!

I was staying at the Econo Lodge in Kissimmee Florida where free shuttle service is provided…read morethrough Metro Transportation who is under contract with the hotel to offer shuttle service to the parks in Orlando. We reserved the shuttle 24 hours in advance as directed by the shuttle service as we required wheelchair accommodations for two of the 5 in our party. We paid over $1300.00 in park tickets for the 4 days we would be going to the park. The 1st day of our vavation we recieved a phone call 20 minutes before our scheduled pick up time to inform us they were unable to accomidate us & we would need to arrange private transportation! I was beyond exasperated as I had made reservation & was confirmed for pick up. The dispatcher was very rude and uncooperative! I asked to speak to a supervisor and was denied any telephone numbers to speak with someone in a supervisory role. I gave him my name & number & told him I wanted to speak with the owner of the company & after 9 days I still have not recieved a phone call back. I have tried calling everyday & have been unable to reach anyone after staying on the phone over & hour & a half continuely being prompted through there menu options over 50 attempts using there directory only to be booted back to the dispatcher recording & not once did anyone answer the phone & it would not allow you to even leave a messag. The owner of this company is Omar & is aware of the situation that occurred and that he has a dissatisfied customer but has yet to return my call. We did not make it to the park until 3:30 in the afternoon & waisted our entire day trying to secure transportation to the park. I am 100% disabled and have many health issues. I have Lupus & am in adrenal failure. Stress is a huge trigger to my disease. I was so upset about the incident that we had to leave the park at 7:30 because I became Ill. We were in Orlando for 6 days and used the public transportation to get to the parks. We were almost killed the 1st night trying to cross the street near the hotel where the bus dropped us off as there was no access to cross the road except to cross a busy highway. As we were crossing there was a median blocking the other lanes & was forced to desperately try and lift our electonic wheelchairs over a cement and grass median to reach the other side. There was no lights or other place to cross. I was in tears as all we seen was uncoming traffic headed straight twords us and could not lift the wheelchair up to get off the roadway! I truly thought we were going to be struck by oncoming traffic! On the 2nd day we utilized the shuttle provided by the hotel though I was not happy with them due to leaving us stranded the 1st day of our trip. We were loaded unto the shuttle & proceeded to head back to the hotel. The driver never secured our wheelchairs so when he made a right turn my wheelchair tipped to the side on two wheels and I had to grab the bar to prevent be thrown off my chair & the chair flipping completely on its side. We never utiluzed the shuttle again & have continued to try & reach the company to voice our complaints. We had to pay for transportation our entire stay in Orlando, something that was supposed to be included in our hotel cost. I would not recommend this company to anyone and am going to pursue other options to have this complaint rectified.
