    Canny Kids - Parachute time

    Canny Kids

I moved back to Utah in January 2020, and needed to find someone to watch my 11 month old so I…read morecould tour potential houses to buy. A friend recommended a new spot called Canny Kids in Draper, which was a subscription-based drop-in daycare. I liked the idea of on-demand childcare, and they were available when I needed care, so I took Lucy to Canny Kids on our second day in Utah. I consider this a very fortuitous day, because she immediately loved her time at Canny Kids. I was given a password-protected link to view security cameras, so I could peek in and see if she was okay at her first time in daycare. And when I watch the camera, she is either happily playing, or getting one-on-one attention from a caregiver. I've brought Lucy back dozens of times when I've needed a sitter, but also have made appointments just because she asks to go play at Canny Kids. When my grandma died, and I needed some help through funeral preparation, the staff were so supportive and sweet. I know I can count on them to not just care for my daughter, but many of the staff clearly love her. If you need flexible childcare in the south end of the Salt Lake Valley, give Canny Kids a try.

We have two kids, 4 and 1.5 years, found Canny Kids online and decided to enroll them in 2-3 hours of care for the week we were in town. Couldn't be more pleased with the level of care and convenience that Canny Kids offered. Both our kids really enjoyed their time and were said when we had to pack up and move on to our next destination. Appreciated that they had a secure way to tap into a live stream video feed to help us check in on our kids virtually. The team was easy to communicate with using text messaging. Would recommend to anyone looking for on-demand child care.

We started at My Little World when our son was 14 weeks a little over 3 months so now that he's 6…read moremonths I can give a fair review. We are originally from Las Vegas with no family in Salt Lake County. We needed reputable in home, clean childcare that we could trust with our whole lives. While they do not have cameras they send pictures all day. We met Dora. Who is now an extended member of our family. Dora loves on each of her students as if they were all related to her, they're all family in her eyes. There is no one better qualified to watch your children. I used to be a preschool teacher as a teen and in vegas I worked alongside Nevad Highway Patrol as a community educator at schools, as I mentioned our daughter has only attended private schools from birth, we've had a nanny and our son now has Ms. Dora. My expectations and standards are much higher than most. She cares for the kids like you wouldn't believe - no one ever has an illness or runny nose. Everyone's clothes are clean- she tends to every one of our infants needs like she's his own personal nanny. He is always in a clean diaper and clothes when we pick him up, she notifies us of every bump or scratch. We also have a 7 year old who attends My little world on the days her school is not in session. She's been in private school since birth and maintains advance grades so we trust her words, every time she's there she echoes the same. That Ms. Dora cares for her like she belongs to the President, like her students all of the children are royalty. My daughter has shared she is always feeding them delicious snacks and teaching them things. Dora has a helper who has helped my daughter with math over winter break, everyone they've hired is top notch, au pair or nanny quality childcare for a fair price. The number listed is for Carmen, Carmen speaks English and Spanish but Dora; the owner primarily speaks in Spanish and her and I text back and forth in English all day long. There isn't better care you can afford. I toured 4 over crowded over priced daycares before I searched for a licensed in home daycare and I will never look back. I know we're years from it but we will cry the day our boy has to go to kindergarten, we know it.

Has an app that they send pics and cute little updates on your child's day. Also love how much my little one actually enjoys going and playing there. It's run more like a school than a daycare hence the name and there's structured playtime and activities for them as well, even at the younger groups. My little one has learned so much in the couple months attending one for the first time and the ladies have been wonderful bonding with our baby.

Within the first 2 weeks my child started there, his teacher had a mental breakdown in the hallway…read moreand was screaming at me about how she couldn't handle my son's tantrums. ( Child was just barely 1 1/2 years old- starting at a new daycare for the first time. Attachment issues to be expected.) I was livid at the lack of professionalism and dramatic manner this teacher talked to me in as I just set foot in the building. The director did address the problem and that teacher was assigned to another class. My child's class had a new great teacher reassigned- and we didn't have issues for months. Sadly this didn't last long. One by one teachers would come and they would go, lots not even lasting a week. This was a red flag- if a company couldn't keep staff what is the true problem? With high turnover it led the children to be frustrated, have anxiety with no consistency. Children at these ages require a constant environment for them to feel safe and grow. After several months of the chaos, my son began to act out. His teachers made it very obvious to me that they did not care for him which didn't help. The Director would call unplanned meetings out in the middle of the day and would have me take my child home after without warning. She has a hard time discussing conflict and cant take feedback. I believe in open discussion to find the root of the problem, and she did not operate that way. Our family worked very hard with child anxiety professionals for in order to comply with Shanas demands. We spent an incredible amount of time and money to do what she asked of us. There was significant improvements at home and with other children outside of the center- concluding that Shanas daycare operations was the issue. MANY days there would be more kids than allowed to a teacher in a class. I remember there was 21 children to 1 teacher one day. how is that even legal? The final months we were there was insanely stressful- we were getting daily write ups. My child then came home with a bloody arm. I immediately reached out to the team. I was furious that there was no mention of it. It turned out that the teachers weren't paying attention and little girl got into a brutal fight with him. The teachers said they "Forgot" to write a report. There was no hesitation when my son hit, scratched or left even a tiny mark. The moment he was hurt they didn't care. The final day, I was in the middle of a major meeting with the CEO of my company. I received a call from the daycare director that I would need to come to her office immediately to discuss a situation with my child. I walked in and the Director was shaking nervously. I inquired to see if she was okay and then she advised me that my child hit again. The mother of this other child "feared for her child's safety" and the "Teachers did not want to work with my child in their class." At that point, I was over her pretence in placing blame on my child when the root problem is her and her staff. I calmly pointed out that he was doing well until her staffing became a problem. The feedback did not sit well with her. I packed my child's things and left. Later she and my husband spoke- she fabricated a story to him saying that I was abrasive. she was terrified of me and didn't want to be alone with me. I was very grateful that I had recorded our entire conversation. I lost my job because of all of the insanity she put us through - but it was worth it knowing that my son is no longer being scrutinized by an unstable daycare facility operated by an insane woman who doesn't know how to run a business. AVOID THIS PLACE!!!!
