Not the best experience. Came in with an elderly woman with a walker who had an appointment. I'm not an expert and don't know the laws but I think they should have had handicap accommodations for someone with a walker or wheelchair. Instead, they just stood there watching us struggle until an outside rep decided to hold the door open as we struggled to navigate the stairs. We finally made it in and I gave her name at the front desk. I asked if she should sit or was her stylist ready. No answer. I asked again. There were 3 people sitting at the front desk. 2 ignoring me and one who said that she doesn't work the front desk but will find out. She went to the back and came out a few minutes later and said that we could come to the back. After sitting, the stylist came over and started coloring. She didn't ask any questions about color. The woman who I was helping hadn't been there in years but apparently was still in the computer so the stylist just assumed that she wanted the same color. Same with the cut. Didn't say a word or ask any questions. Really not cool. After they were done I asked if there was an alternate way to get out of the salon so we wouldn't have to navigate the steps and was told no. I left with a bad feeling and the woman I was helping left with a color and cut that were not what she wanted. I'm not calling out the individual stylist but if Cactus is reading their reviews, do better . read more

Great staff. Just had a cut and blowout from Fatima. She's wonderful. Did an amazing job. I recommend her.

So incredibly disappointed. Booked with a groupon and was charged more than what was agreed on. The stylist did a service on me that was extra and wasnt told. And the stylist admitted it was wrong and apologized. When it was time to pay for the service, i had spoken to the manager. Off the bat i was spoken to with attitude and unprofessionalism. They couldnt keep their story straight and was trying to make me feel stupid. Fortunately it didnt work with me. I feel absolutely horrible for the employees having to call someone like that their boss/manager. Cannot imagine the toxic environment. Its a good salon but maybe go for another location. Because if you had any concerns, you'll get treated like you're not a valued client. (By the manager) If thats how she really talks to her customers, someone needs to be aware. Very very disappointed. read more

My husband went there last week because he was in town doing errands....thought it would be ok. Has been going to salon in Woodbury for more than 10 years-- and has had exceptional haircuts. The woman who cut his hair had 40 years experience. No question... this was the worst haircut he has had in our 25 years of marriage. Not only was he scalped... when he told her not too short... the back was completely uneven. Absolutely disgusting that someone so incompetent is working there. What an awful experience. I would give a negative star if i could. read more

All the staff is so kind and welcoming, and my hair looks amazing! Super clean and the vibes are great, wouldn't go anywhere else

They were able to take with an hour's notice and gave me an excellent haircut. Service was friendly, and the shop was neat and clean.

Amazing experience! I booked with a groupon at a different location than I went to (for my daughter) and they still took her anyway, at that same time. Everyone there was so nice and welcoming and insanely accommodating! My daughter has a TON of hair and was there for 5 hours for full highlights! Lorelei did her hair and she was FANTASTIC! She was kind and cheerful and made my daughter feel comfortable, and she really did an excellent job. The place was super clean and lovely. I would recommend it to anyone! read more

Stay away from Kim and the Cactus Salon on Main Street in Huntington. I was treated terribly because I purchased a Groupon for a blowout. The Groupon clearly states can not have been there within 12 months. I was there 14 months ago. She waited until my hair was wet to embarrass me in front of the other customers. When I made the appointment I was told I could use the Groupon. They need to change wording on Groupon. Customers should never be treated that way. Barbara, the stylist was lovely and very professional. Don't worry Kim. I will never be back to your location. read more

As a new customer I was nervous to walk into somewhere. The girls at the desk were SO nice and helpful! The shampoo girl was sweet and thorough. I got amazing color with Lori and great haircut with John and will definitely be back!! Overall great experience! read more

I officially swear by this place! Marie is a a highlighting hair cutting GODDESS. I just wanted to start off by stating that someone is looking for a freebie. I have been going to Natasha for 5 years and I have had an exceptional experience when dealing with my hair. My hair was a hot mess and with Natasha's care my hair is EXACTLY where I want it to be and in HEALTHY condition! It was such a process to get my hair to where it was but she did it the healthy way instead of frying it like other hairdressers do. My mother goes to her, my sister and some close friends all go to Natasha. They alllll rave about her and her work! I receive so many compliments on my hair. Never have I ever had a bad experience with her at all. As said previously she is the best and someone is looking for a freebie. read more

I'm a long time customer (20+years) of Allison and would never let anyone else color my hair! She is simply the best at everything! Highlights, color, cuts and styling! I can't say enough good things about her! She did my hair for my prom, wedding and my daughter's communion! I always get compliments on my hair and color! read more

I went here because I wanted to get those feather extensions and this is the only place I found that did them. I fell in love with Barbra Ann, she always asks what you like, is this ok. She wants to please her costumers, she also takes classes to be up to date on the latest trends. She turned me on to my latest hair, the ombre effect. I highly recommend her and I am very picky, with my hair! I took my girlfriend to her also and she fell in love with her as well. The shampoo girls, ah, few times they didn't ask if the water was ok and it kept getting in my ears. I think the one girl was very new and stressed so. Maybe I just went on bad days. If I didn't really like Barbra Ann I probably wouldn't go back. read more

DON'T GO! This was my first time going to Cactus, and will definitely be my last. I had my hair dyed from brown to a pink balayage. I showed her multiple examples of EXACTLY what I wanted and my hair honestly is botched. I could have done it myself. The pink highlights faded in a week, when I was told they would last at least one-two months depending on how well I took care of it. I did exactly what she said as far as washing my hair with cold water, I bought the recommended shampoo and conditioner, and in that week I washed my hair 3 times. In addition, the actual process of dying my hair was awful. I have long hair so I expected to be there for a while, but Lili barely said a word to me the entire time- instead she called over members of the staff and talked to them! She pulled my hair and had my neck in the most awkward and uncomfortable position the entire time she put the bleach in. The bleached hair looks awful there are 2 random strips of blonde on the top of my hair in the front and back, meanwhile the rest of the bleach starts about 2 inches from the top of my head. It's to the point where I can't even wear it down. I now have to get my hair redone after spending almost $300 on something I could have done in my bathroom for $30. read more

Got my haircut done at the salon. They started off with waist and I wanted a trim, 3 in off. Attached picture shows the effect. I wanted them to fix it. Went on Monday - closed, checked business hours on Tuesday - I was there at 5 since they should close at 6, but the salon was closed. Decided to fix my hair across the street. It was so bad that people were asking me what happened to my hair. read more

I recently moved out of the city and away from my stylist of 14 years. Needless to say, I was TERRIFIED of trying someone new! I am very particular about my blonde highlights and cuts and I explained that to Toni when I walked in one day to schedule an appointment. She set me up with Maureen and I could NOT be happier with my amazing results! Maureen took the time to look at photos and listen to me describe the look I wanted before she touched one hair on my head. At the end of that appointment, it was ALMOST perfect. And you know what? Two days later, Toni called to check if I was happy! When I told her I could use a tweak, they brought me back in and Maureen made it TOTALLY perfect! (At NO CHARGE - and she wouldn't even accept a tip!) I absolutely love my highlights, the cut and how healthy and bouncy my hair looks. I am already looking forward to my future experiences with Maureen and the entire super friendly staff. read more

The worst place. I was going for a while and not happy with the stylist. I tried to switch stylists and Kim the manager told me I wasn't allowed to switch. Huh?? Not allowed? Who are you my mother? Also the services are not free so I get to make the decision not you. Well don't worry I never went back and they lost business. Horrible customer service. read more

Had Maureen and she was great. Went to her after I was unhappy with my hair and she completely salvaged it.

Nice enough people, but not highly skilled in any current hair styles and makeup. I came out of there looking like an 80s prom queen. I had to come home and completely start over. read more

Like this location a lot better than the one in Dix Hills. Took over a year to find someone that could cut my hair & do my beard. Did it correct on the first try too. Service was great & the work was wonderful. read more

AWFUL....they do not know what they are doing when it comes to hair. I waited 30 minutes after my appointment for the stylist to waste another 20 minutes wondering how to highlight my hair...oh and they burned my scalp so badly I literally had blisters throughout my whole head. NICE...I told them I was in pain and she kept being too rough with my hair anyways. The best part, I still was charged for a blow out when I didn't have one done because my scalp was so tender I couldn't run a comb through my hair without screaming. This place is a joke. read more

Used a Groupon to donate my hair and Lily did the best job! Everything was super quick and really great. The women at the front desk were so sweet too. Definitely coming back! read more

I've got the worst haircut in my life in Cactus salon! I just wanted to cut my ends a little bit because I loved my long hair. Rikki used strange technique and I told her many times not to cut so much, but she said she just made "waives". All my friends where shocked. She cut half of my length and made one side longer then the other side because she didn't compare what she cut. I needed to go back to this place and fix my hair. Liliana made my haircut look better but still.. Good bye long hair((((( read more

Had a haircut here. Had to deal with some politics with the prep wash 1st time - wash girl being rough with my hair b/c that's what the hairstylist wanted, no concern that she was hurting me. Hair cut was actually good! But when went back for a trim (same guy), he slaughtered my hair, choppy & uneven. Won't go back. read more
