I am so happy to have found Colors salon ;) It's already so fun to walk through Cold Spring Harbor, such a cute charming little building. I felt welcomed upon arriving & the chairs were pretty cozy in the waiting room ;) the new client form they had me fill out is great for both me & the colorist stylist to see what my hair likes/dislikes are. I was introduced to some new products & the owner sweetly gave me free samples to try before deciding to purchase. I was just going to buy a hair gel, but she said try it first & you can always get it next time. That was cool that she didn't just try to sell me stuff, but actually cared if I like it with my hair ;) I was very happy that I called today & the owner was able to get me a same day appointment. I got the colorist, Luis & he is great at his coloring!!! I told him an issue I have is trying to get rid of the leftover red hair color that keeps popping back out after every hair color. I was looking to go back to my natural brown. Other salons always say no you need the red hair, keep it it goes with your freckles!! Yes, but that's my decision to make. I would feel like I was trying to please my hair colorist at other salons when it should be about what I want. Luis listened right away & instantly chose a color that was a great match for what I had in mind. He was fun to talk to, but let you have your quiet time if you want to just read a magazine. I've driven by here for years so I thought I'd try it out for color before my brother-in-law's wedding. Ive always had a hard time finding colorists that get my color right; sometimes I find my hair is too streaky or too light after getting it professionally done. This place is AMAZING. Not only is this salon beautiful, but the staff is wonderful as well!! Very friendly, helpful, talented and accommodating! One of the things I love most are the products that they use. So happy to have been referred to this quaint salon in Cold Spring Harbor. Their use of safe hair color is just what I was looking for. I hadn't had my hair colored in over 15 years and when the first application didn't take (which they noticed, not me), they re-colored it right away and it turned out awesome. Went during that week to get hombre highlights and a cut. I had Krystal and she did an amazing job. She managed to get the pink streak out of my hair and really blended the highlights to make them look natural. Everyone loves the cut she did also. Highly recommend this place. I started to go to Colors of Cold Spring Harbor in June after being recommended to go there by a friend. Carol did a great job coloring my hair. She takes her time and is really nice. When I went to this salon, I felt like I was visiting friends who happen to be very good at hair styling and coloring. Lenore, Linda, Joy and Carol welcome you right from the moment you walk in, actually do to your hair what you request and genuinely care that you are happy. I discovered that they had a curly hair specialist so decided to give them a try. I am so glad I did. My stylist Joy, knew exactly what was wrong with my previous haircut and knew exactly how to fix it. She did exactly what I requested and blew it out just the way that I asked. I LOVE this salon. It is small and intimate. Linda and Carol, the owners, put a lot of TLC into their clients and their work. They use ORGANIC hair color, a MUST for me because I want to limit my exposure to toxic chemicals. They serve you tea, cheese and crackers, wine while you get your haircut. They have a line of great hair products including ANUVA which has helped my fine hair become fuller. The color is much more natural than previously. Linda does make-up and has shaped my eyebrows. I am new to the Curly Girl process and was a little hesitant at first. Once I stepped into Colors Salon I felt completely relaxed. It is a cozy little house with a warm welcoming feeling. After much internet searching, I came across Colors of CSH - and I'm so happy that I did! The 3 ladies who work there are super pleasant and friendly. You do not feel rushed at all. After researching curly haircuts online I made an appointment for a trim at Colors of Cold Spring Harbor. The reviews suggested Joy was the curly expert. My last haircut at another hair salon was a disaster so I skeptically made this appointment hoping for a somewhat better result. I cannot recommend Colors more strongly. As a veteran of both Oiudad and Devachan I did not think that I could get an excellent cut out of Manhattan. I am thrilled with my new "find". I was welcomed in despite being a new customer and put immediately at ease. Joy was a "joy" to work with. She understood my hair immediately and cut each tendril individually while dry. Afterwards she washed my hair and after placing products on it she showed me exactly how to place my hair. The best part was my haircut! It still remains too short from my last cut at the other salon but it now has shape and curl. I feel as though I learned new curly hair skills and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. I am so excited at my new "find"! read more

I have been going to colors since approximately 2001. I have always been more than satisfied with them. I have curly hair that tends to frizz in the heat and humidity. I have always worn my hair up during the summer. I recently had my hair cut short and putting my hair up was not an option. Linda of Colors recommended that I have a Cezanne treatment on my hair which would make it manageable in this humid weather. I had it done on June 22nd and I am amazed at the results. I let my hair mostly dry and then blow dry it for about 5 minutes with great results. No frizz and my hair looks great. Crystal did a great job doing the treatment and telling me what to expect. It does have a strange scent to it for a few days after the treatment but after you wash it a few times it goes away. I would definitely have this treatment done again and would highly recommend it to anyone with curly frizzy hair. Thanks Linda, Carol and Crystal. read more
