Had the worse experience with Maria Elena. Got bayalage done by her, not the color shade I asked for, though I explained how I wanted the color. During hair cut, she stopped cutting my hair then she cut her own hair front of me then continued citing my hair. I got frustrated but I kept it cool. Just wanted to get my hair done and leave. Danielle didn't seem too happy but it didn't change the service.she was great, finished within an hour and was very sociable with me. Made the time go by quickly. My bangs are orange they don't match the rest of my hair and my hair is super brassy. Plus the Groupon doesn't tell you about the extra fees. My friend and I went here before a vacation for a gel manicure and spa pedicure. The manicure and pedicure were great, but my friend and I did not receive the same services. Needless to say, her manicure held up way better than mine. Mine peeled completely off two days after getting it done, and hers stayed on at least two weeks, possibly even more. My first visit was about a month ago. I went in for an elegant up-do/bun with my hair parted to one side. I was attending my Boyfriend's Military Ball for the first time ever that evening and was already feeling very scared and nervous about how my hair was going to turn out (I have had very bad luck with salons in the past). I went to cactus for my first time last weekend. I showed the girl who was doing my hair multiple pictures of the color I wanted and I was specific that I did not want it a brassy orangy color. When she finished and blew out my hair it was exactly how I didn't want it to be. So I told her and she put a toner over it and tried again. When finished this time my entire roots were orange and the front prices of my hair a copper color. I was so upset with how it came out that they let me come back the next day to a different hair dresser. She was quick and put in some more colored pieces darkened up my root where it was orange and put another toner over my hair. When finished you couldn't even tell she did anything to the color. It was probably a shade lighter then the copper but still very orange. I've never had this problem in all the years I've been getting my hair done. I would not recommend going here.. spend the extra money and go where they'll do your hair the way you want it. read more

Came in a few days ago for a hair cut, it wasn't bad, not amazing but not bad and not worth 60 dollars. Aside from that the place looks a mess the couches are about a decade old there's a diner style coffee machine that made coffee that tastes burnt and old. Workers sitting in there phones and yelling to each other from across the room. It's not a bad place per say but so not worth the price and makes you feel very uncomfortable sitting waiting I don't even think anyone got my stylist they just told me to sit on a couch and wait. read more

I have been coming here since I was 14 (im 20) and I love it. its my favorite salon. ive done all sorts of fun colors like pink blue green etc and everyone is soo friendly!!! if you want a good color and cut or an updo...go to MANNY!!!!!!!!!! he is the absolute best there and he is such a sweet heart. he is my favorite there he knows what you want and can do it perfectly but all stylists are awesome too hes just the best for me. I just have one complaint...this girl named ellie. she was really rude to me and over charged me and did stuff to my hair that I didn't ask for. shes good but shes rude and wont let u do what u want to do. her personality is awful and ive never seen her there. The best facial I've had in a long time with Christine. She didn't leave the room once, continued to exfoliate and massage during steam and mask, and worked on me very diligently the whole time. Asked if I had any allergies or concerns. Great shoulder and arm massage and did everything you should do for a great facial. I went there wanting to go lighter with my hair and did not get it. Gigi idk what she did but she left my hair the same as when I walked in the salon I saw no difference. Her hair drying is by far the worst my hair was all frizzed up I asked her to straighten is and she told me no because I already straighten it too much? Like ???? It's my hair not yours, do what I want. I just hated my experience there so much. Especially because there was this other girl that got her hair done by one of the other ladies and her hair came out bomb and her blow out was amazing and then there was me with frizzy hair I was pissed off because this place is not cheap. It was 170$ for nothing because my hair turned out exactly the same. I should've gone back to complain but I didn't because I'm not that type of person. I would not even rate this salon 1 star ! Stay away from the lady Danielle . Short stocky itailian lady With dark hair in a bun . She destroyed my hair and over processed it by bleaching over bleach. I would love to see this womens credientials. Does she bot know better or does she like destroting peoples hair . On top of that I was charged almost $300 and walked out of the salon with bold spots and over processed hair. This women also kept texting and making phone calls while doing my hair . So weird! I like cactus salon I've had appointments there for wash and blow dry even a haircut.But this time I purchased a Groupon for 179.00 for a keratin straightening treatment,wash cut and blow dry.I was very disappointed.One week later when I washed my hair it didn't even look like I had a keratin treatment.The you girl who did my hair was nice but she barely sprayed the treatment on my hair.Her reasoning was it makes to much smoke in the air when she has to blow-dry my hair and she feels you don't need a lot of the treatment on your hair.So I definitely wasted179.00. read more

Would give zero stars if I could. Gave this place a second chance after a bad first experience only because we received a $20 credit but completely regret doing so. The first visit, my daughter had a keratin treatment which in all fairness was fine. However, the stylist asked if she wanted the ends trimmed after the treatment and we agreed. An end trim is usually included in the price of a keratin treatment but even if it wasn't, I assumed the price would be nominal for a service that literally took less than a minute. After the treatment, the stylist simply cut a tiny fraction off the bottom, straight across, as my daughter did not want any length removed. The stylist was merely evening out the bottom Bc the ends become much more apparent after keratin. Imagine my shock when they added 60 dollars!!! For the trim to the bill on top of the already expensive keratin treatment. I reiterate, we have never even encountered a charge for the end trim after keratin. After complaining to the manager, who insisted that was the stylist rate, she agreed to credit us back only 20 dollars. Why should we have been charged the full amount this stylist charges for a cut and blowout when the blowout was already billed within the keratin treatment? In essence, we were wrongfully double billed as we already paid for the blow out and style when we paid for the keratin. We left very dissatisfied as even the discounted 40 was exorbitant for a slight trim of the bottom of her hair. I'm still mad we gave it another shot but since my daughter had a party to go to today, I thought we might as well use the credit towards a blow out and style. She wanted her hair blown out with loose curls at the bottom. For this, the agreed to apply our credit to the 75 dollars they usually charge!!! To think they charge 75 for the service she received is outrageous as even the 55 we paid was not worth it. My daughter did not get any curls. Instead, she had a sub par blowout where the stylist Carla started with rollers under a hair dryer. The " curls" did not even last until we got home. She only curled the hair as she blew it out and left the top very puffy and wide. It was nothing like my daughter had requested in detail. The stylist Carla seemed to be bothered that the front desk agreed to fit my daughter in. She threw my daughter under the hair dryer and said she was hungry and went to eat her lunch. Then after complaining about my daughters hair, she did a quick rushed blow dry with a round brush. She was rude and disinterested as well as incompetent. The blow out was terrible and no style whatsoever was done other than using the dryer. BThat's a 75 dollar ( 55 w our credit) service??? Come on. I have no problem paying for good service but this was the worst blowout she has ever had and we paid the additional amount to actually have it styled!! Not even a haircut!! This is the last time we will be at this price gouging, poor service salon. read more

I was honestly very disappointed in my service. I used a Groupon for acrylic nails and was very excited as I am desperately looking for a new regular spot. My manicurist was rude, and unfriendly. I got the impression that she wasn't thrilled to have my appointment. I also was very unhappy with the final product of my nails. They were filed uneven and the paint sloppy. My cuticles were left untouched even after I mentioned that they could use some help. To top it all off today less than a week later, one of my nails has fallen off over a week before I should be do for a fill in and I am not hard on my hands. I just had a. Wonderful-VIP experience at this salon, Cactus, Vanderbilt, Commack. I went for a haircut, hair color and glaze. I chose to try Melissa, based on the many good reviews about her and I wasn't disappointed. She really is an angel, very knowledgeable about what she does. I opted to take her suggestion that instead of just a single process for my hair color, she gave me some highlights on my crown too. I was very happy with the result and received nice compliments from my family and friends. Unlike other salons, Melissa kept on checking my hair even before the timer sounded....what a treat, it really made my day. She referred me to another equally excellent stylist, Gina for my bob cut, since her specialty is with long hair. I loved what Gina did to my hair, after listening to me first what I wanted.
