Take out needs to be temperature aware. You can't put freshly deep fried stuff or queso fundido directly in styrofoam! Also, QC on thre cilantro. Sometimes it's there, other times it's not BUT... Everything I tried was great! Food is great, served quick. I heard they're still in waiting for a liquor liscense & there's no BYOB. Mostly using this techie to post that queso fundido video. It was BOILING. read more

So far so good, ready to come back for more!! My visit included a complimentary cup of chicken noodle soup. It tasted just like my mom's homemade soup-great sign:) For my 1st time here I tried the chile rellenos, ground beef tacos, steak tacos, and rice. I asked for no onion but cilantro only. Onions were on the tacos-no biggie, picked them off and the tacos were amazing!! Delicious tortillas, seasoned meat, non-fatty steak=SUPER HAPPY!! I didn't even need the hot sauce, instead I used it with tortilla chips. Nice and spicy! The rice was also seasoned nicely. The only thing lacking was the chile relleno-good flavor, but it was a little undercooked and no tortillas served with it. The flavor was good enough for me to try it again as it is usually one of my fave dishes. Oh and you can't go wrong with a tall glass of horchata. Excited that Cactus Grill is in business in FP. TIP: The day I went they were only accepting cash, so be prepared just in case. Seems like they do accept CC, maybe their reader was acting up that particular day. read more

Cactus grill - YOOOO THIS TASTED GOOD AS HELLLL. - Mexican Near Me - Forest Park, Illinois

Just tried this place for the first time tonight for take out and I will have to say I was very disappointed. I ordered the steak and shrimp fajitas and my husband ordered the steak fajitas. I couldn't even eat my steak, it was very chewy. My husband was the same as well. Their refried bean was so salty, I had a few bites and that was it. Don't waste your time coming here or you will waste your money. read more

I bet the food here is pretty good. I wish I could have tried it. However, when I arrived at Cactus Grill I first wished to use the bathroom to freshen up and wash my hands before ordering. Girl scurries out from behind the counter to stop me at the bathroom area and she asks "Are you going to buy something?". To which I said, "Yes". This was not sufficient for her. She then said, "You have to buy it before you use the bathroom". I exclaimed "I have to BUY MY FOOD BEFORE I USE THE BATHROOM?". I HAD entered this establishment primarily TO buy food. I was looking forward to it in fact. I was only taking a detour to the restroom because I had to use it also. I was not pleased with this interaction at all. I placed a $5 bill on the counter and promptly walked out. It is obvious to me they need the money more than I do - and I wanted them to have at least something to remember me by. So this is a review of the hospitality (not the food). If hospitality means zero to you, and you don't mind being told by the girl behind the counter when you can use the bathroom during your visit, then maybe this is the place for you. I will never again return to Cactus Grill after what happened. And I will forever be cautious about entering restaurants anywhere east of Elmhurst. I shall look upon the process of urban dining with scorn for some time, as a result of this. There was already a sign on the door there saying the restroom was for customers only. So upon entering I was prepared to honor that contract. And yet, I had to be treated that way because there was a remote chance in their mind, that I might use the bathroom and not buy something. Good bye, Cactus Grill. read more

Absolutely great food and service every time I've been here. Clean dining area. Prices are very reasonable. Take out and dine in here often. Great local hotspot! read more

Absolutely delicious! Ordered a Chimichanga Suiza and the Combo Cactus, they were both delicious. The chimichanga was huge! Definitely enough to share. The tamale was the best I've had locally and their rice and beans were also excellent. We ordered to go and when we went in to pick up our food, the service was friendly and welcoming. Such a great experience! We're so happy to have found this restaurant and will definitely be returning very soon. read more

My boyfriend and I got take-out from the Cactus Grill last week, and even before we had the food I knew it would be great. The restaurant is immaculate and cheerful, the owner/manager (Nadia) was so incredibly friendly and sweet - asking how a customer's mom was doing, etc. Got the food home and it was exactly what we wanted - ordered guacamole, flautas, a torta - and the best was the churro with chocolate sauce for dessert. Their breakfast looks great, too. We will definitely be back! Perfect neighborhood place. So glad I read about it because I've driven past and never noticed it before - it's in a mini-mall. read more

Ordered Menudo today (New Years Day)!! Totally on point!!! Best menudo I've had in YEARS!!!!! Best hangover cure on the planet

I stopped here after filling up my car at the gas station next door, to get some takeout to take home for dinner. I was in a hurry, and they got the food out fast for me! Thanks! The food was both good and cheap -- two tacos for $5 pricing. I tried the tacos al pastor, which were great, with a nicely spicy sauce. Steak tacos were fine, chicken tamales with tomatillo sauce were good, pork tamales with red sauce, fine. Nice place to stop in for breakfast or lunch on the way into work, or dinner on the way home! My California-born husband who is picky about Mexican food and about the quality of meat also liked what I brought home, and was sorry he'd eaten dinner already. I'm pretty sure we'll both be eating there again soon; there's lots of other things on the menu I'm looking forward to trying! read more

Very good service..The lady who took my order was so nice and was very helpful...the food is good..the burrito is worth every penny..

I had heard good things about Cactus Grill, so I gave it a try. Not only were the nopalitos con huevos I ordered delicious, but the homemade salsas were quite good. In addition, I had a barbacoa taco that was juicy and tender. I highly recommend this place. read more

Hours of operation posted on Yelp are wrong and need updating. I'm hoping this will save some hungry folks the frustration of attempting to call-in an order and have no one answer. There also isn't a sign for hours of operation on the building. I found out they open at 11AM, not 9AM. You're welcome. read more

The food here isn't the best, but it's good enough to return -- especially with such incredible service. We felt like we were old friends with the waitress, which made the whole experience even better. I had chicken tamales which came in a really spicy sauce. We had flan for dessert at the suggestion of the waitress. She said it was a family recipe and you can really taste that. Loved it. Will definitely come back. read more

Second time eat here. Best casual Mexican in the area. Very good food and attentive service.

Came in tonight to check this place out and was not disappointed! To start with, the folks here are very welcoming and super friendly. We ordered food to go and while we waited we were offered a complimentary appetizer (delicious!). Our food was prepared quickly and after a short wait we headed home. Now let's talk about the food. We got a chicken burrito and a veggie burrito for the teenagers. They loved them and said they were super tasty! My wife had the chicken chimichanga suizas dinner and I had the carne asada dinner. Both were generously portioned, fresh, and delicious! The meat was good quality and seasoned very well. The salsas that came with the meals were pretty standard (I'd love an even hotter one). Overall we were very happy with our food and look forward to coming back! Totally recommend stopping in! read more

I have been looking all over this area for good Mexican food and tried this based on the yelp reviews! Did not disappoint! Fresh guacamole, chips and two different types of salsa which was also very fresh and flavorful. I ordered a combo platter and I liked every aspect of the meal- the beans were good and normally I don't even eat the beans! Chorizo was tasty as well. We enjoyed every part of this meal and will be back! The service we received was also very welcoming. Give this place a try if you like Mexican food. You will not be disappointed! read more

We loved everything we ate at Cactus Grill! Everything was homemade and delicious. We had the enchiladas, Cactus Combo, and a kid's taco. Salsas were spicy and flavorful. The cup of chicken soup before the meal was a nice touch. The service was friendly and attentive. The owner's take great pride in the restaurant. Be sure to save room for the outstanding flan, made from the owner's family recipe. Do yourself a favor, and visit Cactus Grill soon! read more

Really tasty....the pastor tacos are the best I've had. The restaurant is bright and airy with great music and great staff. I went at 1pm on a weekday and I was on my way with food less than five minutes later. Everyone was super friendly and when I couldn't decide whether to go authentic with onions and cilantro or more Tex mex with lettuce and tomato they offered both. It's a place for everyone! read more

Don't judge a book by its cover is certainly in effect with Cactus Grill. Hidden amongst an otherwise unassuming and somewhat rundown strip mall, Cactus Grill is a true delight. Service was friendly, prompt, and ready with anything we might need. Highly recommend the chicken quesadillas! The cheese is not too oily and messy, it is a perfect blend with the deliciously seasoned chicken. I am from a family of 7 and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Would recommend to anyone who is in the mood for good food and happy faces. read more
