Located in Terminal 4 Gate A

While racing through Phoenix's Sky Harbor International Airport Terminal 4, I noticed this wall store selling Cactus Candy. Cactus Candy products are actually confectioneries made from prickly pear juice that I figured would make for an additional fun souvenir to share with our nephew and his fiancée. Okay, so, my husband busted me for also having a sweet tooth with this stop. Though this was not the first time that I've tasted prickly pear fruit flavor (fruit from the paddle cactus) which to my tastes like a bit like bubble-gum. I was reminded about this desert treat last November when fellow Phoenix Yelpers Joyce and Mike shared a box of the luscious gelées and kept them in mind. So, luckily, I came across this wall store. Kudos to the saleswoman who was friendly and understanding of my hastiness since I told her that I was on my way to my connecting flight. I didn't want to keep asking the cost of the items (while in the back of my mind I was thinking of the space or diminishing space in my carry-on) but decided on a couple of boxes of prickly pear gelées ($10) and a couple of bags of licorice whips ($4).

TV didn't do the place justice. It is huge! And clearly a manufacturer first and gift shop second. They seem to specialize in chocolate, but had taffy, brittle and lot's of other goodies. My wife is diabetic, so the large sugar free section is especially appreciated. All of the manufacturing was fascinating. I wish I had visited on a weekday when the plant was in full production. I always am looking for local businesses like this when giving gifts to out of state family and friends. Cerreta's is perfect for this. Hmmm. Maybe a state 48 shaped chocolate bar? Yep, that was fun! They even gave us a free piece of candy on the way out. Definitely a memorable place to take visitors.

The young ladies working were very helpful and so nice. They said we could sample the taffy before we buy it. And we did. The taffy was good. I don't care for one and that was just preference, I don't like cinnamon (red hot kind). They weren't making any candy this day but it was a holiday weekend. They have tours and candy kits to take home as well. It's very clean and payed out well. I would definitely recommend stopping in if you are looking for gifts. We'll keep it in mind when we need something unique and of course the taffy.

Talk about an awesome selection of candy and chocolate! You have a couple of options. You can create your own bag of goodies from a vast selection. You then pay based on the weight of your bag. Pick up a scooper and customize things to your heart's content. Outside of that, they have a ton of novelty sweets (and even some drinks). We're talking matcha Kit Kats, a Duff beverage (from The Simpsons), overpriced Dubai chocolate, and much, much more. You'll find a bunch of sweet treats here that you won't find at your neighborhood grocery store. This is the type of place that kids will love. And also a good place to buy a cool gift for someone. Or yourself. I'll definitely be back!
