    Vendor stall sign
    Emmett T.

This is a fast-casual Italian vendor at the Market on 8th food hall in National City. The previous tenant at the stall was a pizza joint that has now set up a brick-and-mortar location in Barrio Logan. Cacio's menu offerings featured appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and of course, the requisite pasta and pizza. There were ten or more choices for the last two categories which was a lot for a small mom-and-pop kitchen. The Spicy Rigatoni was my selection as I wasn't in the mood for pizza or a sandwich. Slices of mild Italian sausage were mixed in with the noodles along with bell peppers, onions, and garlic in an arrabiata sauce. The sausage was not spicy at all, however the sauce had more kick to it than I expected. The order came with a breadstick which I used to buffer the heat from the sauce. The portion size was decent for the price while the service was courteous from the lady who took my order.

Food: it was absolutely perfect, we are satisfyingly FULL! Thank you so much Miss Alejandra! And to the lady behind the counter as well, thank you! The Pepperoni Pizza ($18) & Buffalo Chicken Pizza ($18) WERE AWESOME! All the pastas -spicy rigatoni, BYOPasta, Chicken Tequila (~$20/each) WERE DELICIOUS! And the Meatball Appetizer (5/$10) and Bread Sticks (2/$3) WERE TO DIE FOR! Our stomachs couldn't be more satisfied. Service: Alejandra, the owner's Mother, was WONDERFUL, we went in with 5 hungry mouths to feed and she made us feel beautiful as well as taken care of! Even told us a few places to look at while we were waiting, there were only 2 ladies holding it down, KIND FAST QUALITY SERVICE - only took 30 minutes which is reasonable considering it's cooked-to-order - Ambiance: It's an order & go style place! Alejandra suggested picnic style or beach eating. Even so, it was so quaint and cute, while smelling AMAZING

I stumbled upon this hidden gem and ordered the chicken parmesan pasta dish, when I was finished the plate was empty. It was absolutely delicious flavorful, juicy pasta was cooked perfectly. The breadstick brought everything together nicely. My daughter ordered the kung pao chicken and it was absolutely delicious and flavorful. I will certainly be sharing this new favorite with friends and family. Excellent prices and fast friendly service. Five stars!!!

We had a large group of 13 and every single one of us are still raving about our meal. It was not rushed at all, the servers are so sweet and caring. The waiter put our replacement order last, and it took 35 minutes to get the second meal. Meanwhile, we had to feed our 2-year-old son because he was extremely hungry. It honestly felt like the waiter, or maybe even the chef, purposely made us a very small pasta portion compared to the usual size. To be fair, the pasta itself wasn't bad. We then asked for another pasta dish (our third order). When we asked the waiter for the ETA, she told us it would take 35 minutes or more. We were shocked -- 35 minutes for a pizza that normally takes 8-9 minutes to make? I worked in professional restaurants for 8 years, and it should not take more than 10-12 minutes, maybe 15 minutes max. At that point, we refused to stay and asked for the check. By the way, the restaurant wasn't even busy. They still charged us for the slice of pizza, and honestly, I don't mind the money. What bothered me was that the pizza was not good, and when we brought up the issue, the waiter didn't seem to care at all about the service or the long wait times.

I told my bff and he mentioned that that was one of his favorite pizza spots. Our first week we had the pepperoni and sausage pizza, guys, it was so cheesy and gooey and the flavor packed, the sauce the dough. It was so good. When we came in we were greeted right away and even though it was later at night staff was super friendly. The inside is just so welcoming and large, I can definitely see pizza parties for kids soccer or baseball. We literally ate a medium pizza between the two of us in two days no left overs. The next week we got a meat lovers pizza, it was equally delicious and I found that it tasted better the next day cold. We're back at our home but I'm gonna suggest to my husband that next pizza craving we come back to Napoleone's!

Wilfredo personally prepared and delivered the order, which already says a lot about the level of ownership and pride behind this place. That kind of hands-on leadership shows in the food. We ordered the Birria Pizza and Pepperoni Pizza, and both were phenomenal -- as usual. The crust had that perfect balance: crisp exterior with a chewy center, slight char for flavor, and sturdy enough to hold the generous toppings without collapsing. The Birria pizza is on another level. Tender, flavorful meat layered generously, topped with fresh onions, cilantro, and lime wedges that brighten everything up. Every bite hits savory, tangy, and rich all at once. The Pepperoni pizza? Loaded. Not skimpy slices -- thick, cupped pepperoni with crispy edges and plenty of coverage. Cheese pull was legit, sauce had depth, and the ratio was dialed in. Service quality remains top tier. Professional, welcoming, and consistent. Kudos to Wilfredo for maintaining standards and delivering quality every time. This is how you build loyal customers.

I get the feeling this fantastic food center is well-known in the area, so I probably don't need to write a Yelp novel on it. Still, there area a number of things that stood out to me. First, this store is impressively arranged - wherever you go you know the area you're in and what to expect to find. This goes from the food counters, fruit and veggie area, etc. Second, its organization and cleanliness is off-the-charts! It makes it easy to purchase things without reservation. All the food counters were very well-stocked - meats, cheese offerings, and cooked to-go items - it all looked great. I noticed that there always seemed to be someone among the employees either fixing shelves, stocking, or cleaning - it's no surprise the shop's appearance inside is so impressive! But today I took advantage of my opportunity to bypass frozen food for a change! I picked up some shrimp cevicha and six pieces of backed BBQ chicken. Yes! It was awesome too! The shrimp cevicha had some heat that I overcame with a sugared drink and the chicken was very moist and cooked perfectly. My standard for shops like these has always been Iowa Meat Farms. But I'm sure Big Ben's would tell us that Iowa Meat Farms has nothing on or over them! And that would be great! Because Big Ben Specialty Market is truly remarkable in its own right! Its excellent customer service will make it easy for me to come back here when I'm in the area often! Recommend: HIGH
