Our family's experience with Cabrillo Hospice was absolutely awful! We filed a complaint against them with the VA and changed hospice companies. We are much happier with Comfort and Peace Hospice. The caregivers that came to our home from Cabrillo were great; however, we had two major issues with this company that made our life miserable: 1. They would show up whenever they felt like it and did not notify us if they needed to reschedule their visits. The bathers in particular were a real challenge! Although they were scheduled to come between 8:30-9:30am, several times they showed up at noon or later. No call, no notice. Of course, we bathed my dad ourselves as he needed to start his day fresh and clean. Also, there were times where they didn't show up at all and just expected my dad to be unwashed for a week! Terrible service! The only exception to this is Edgar...he was always punctual and gave excellent care. However, Jacqueline and the management team were worthless! Absolutely worthless! 2. The second problem we had was in receiving supplies. The company consistently failed to order supplies when requested. It usually took 3-5 telephone calls to get just the basic supplies. It was so bad that on two occasions we ordered disposable briefs from Amazon and paid for them privately because Cabrillo failed to deliver as promised. If you need hospice services you certainly don't need the added headache and frustration dealing with Cabrillo Hospital adds y to your plate...go elsewhere! read more

My mom lives in assisted living in Escondido CA. The facility is great as is the staff but my mom needed a little more care and assistance so I started researching Hospice options. what. found is that there are a lot of Hospice provides but not all are equal in service and quality of care. I did my best research and chose the service that I thought would best serve my mom. shortly after i realized I chose the wrong provider. On the advice of the staff I changed mom's Hospice provider to Cabrillo Hospice. I immediately noticed a difference in the quality of care and service. Starting with the attention to detail from day one, The intake Nurse, weekly Nurse visits, medication management and oversight, the shower staff, and support from Cabrillos 24 hour Nurse support are all AMAZIN. I can't begin to tell you what a positive impact Cabrillo Hospice has had on my moms quantity of live and the load is has taken off of the family having the additional quality support. As a retired Fire Chief I know the importance of true, honest, quality service and that is truly what Cabrillo Hospicue is all about. Cabrillo Hospice is one I would recommend for my own family. We work close with them with our memory care. They have had many patients in our memory care. I would specifically like to shout out their amazing liaison Amber Fierro who goes above and beyond at her job. She makes sure to work closely with our wellness team to ensure all needs are met for her patients and makes the process of getting them admitted to hospice seamless. She also has the best bedside manner with families and patients her background as a nurse sets her apart from other liaisons I have worked with. My husband was under hospice care for a little over 2 months. Cabrillo Hospice provided care even though my husband had not seen a doctor in over 15 years. It was difficult to get a doctor's referral, but they took him on anyway after assessing his condition (terminal). The nurse was professional, caring, and straight forward right off the bat. He was treated for pain and comfort, and his skin cancer wounds attended to. The cleaning assistant came twice a week and was a cheerful kind person. The RN came once a week to check vitals and treat and change bandages. The communication with them was excellent. The 24/7 assistance was excellent! I recommend this hospice company. read more

loved the nurses and clinical staff that came out to take care of my father in his last days but unfortunately you could tell they're overworked and aren't allowed to provide the comfort and support that's truly needed in hospice. Guessing this company is understaffed and the poor employees that are there are worked to the max. I'd probably recommend a more established hospice company. read more

The caregivers are good. But they have no support from the office and management. The employees are afraid and powerless. The nurses order basic supplies and management cancels the orders and tells the nurses the distributor is the problem. I called the distributor for answers. When i confronted management with the truth, they refused to answer the allegations. And discharged my grandmother citing I was being disrespectful. All they had to do was be honest but they are doing something criminal by taking medicare money and denying my grandmother her supplies for over 2weeks. This isn't even the first time. It's happened several times and lasted over 3 weeks one time. Run. They care about covering their ass when they don't do their job instead of making things right and caring for a 96yo woman who has alzheimers and is dieing. They will dump her with no resources just because we held them accountable for abusing my grandmas right to supplies paid for by medicare l. Resources that this company regularly withholds from their clients. Victoria the manager acknowledged that they have not provided any supplies for the last two weeks to any of their clients, once again blaming Medline...but it was not midline. Cabrillo flat out cancelled the orders. I was smart enough to get the order # so I could follow the paper trail. When midline looked at my grandmother's account they couldn't find the order. When cabrillo cancels the order it disappears from midline as if it wasn't ordered. But I had the order # and when they looked it up it was ordered and cancelled almost two weeks after it was ordered. W T Frick. Shady boots abound with these sheisters...... run as fast as you can. They discharged my 96yo grandma because I asked a legitimate question. read more

Cabrillo Hospice informed me last week that they would discharge my Mom without providing any supporting documentation. I looked up CA Code of Regulations and Health & Safety Codes that pertain to Hospice discharges. They are to provide a discharge code, a written physician's discharge order from the hospice medical director, and additional documentation. They claim that my Mom is not declining and that is their justification for discharge. An RN spends 10 minutes a week taking her vitals and measures her arm (this is their method to determine if she is losing weight. If not losing weight then she is not declining). My Mom has not been seen by a hospice Doctor in 10 months. She has a Nurse Practitioner that has been there 3 times in 10 months. Additionally, I've had communication problems for months. I requested that the same aide be sent since my Mom can't see due to a stroke and has dementia. Mom can only identify people by their voice & how they handle her. Cabrillo Hospice has changed the aide several times and also changed the schedule without informing me. I have told Jacqueline Randall and Victoria Bambarger that I am balancing Caretakers, Physical Therapy and other personnel and the schedule cannot be changed without contacting me. They did it anyway and had the aide showing up at 6 am Monday/Friday instead of 9 am Monday/Friday. Then the aide showed up on a Thursday and was rude to the Assisted Living staff when the staff told her the Thursday exercise class was too difficult. read more

Let me preface my review with the fact that the nurses and the home care professionals are amazing and super compassionate . . . the administration on the other hand is less than desirable. I was referred to Cabrillo by Kaiser and I couldn't have been contacted faster . . . big Medicare money don't cha know. I had somebody to my house (Camille) who couldn't get there fast enough with a stack of papers to sign and to get my dad enrolled into their system. No big deal I guess, considering the value of my signature but then the mask started to slip. I was given a couple of handbooks with a very professional presentation however, the case manager (Tina) and the supposed attending physician (Dr. Clancy) never once stepped foot into our home to evaluate the enrollee . . . plus the imaginary doctor never even called. I was visited by a nurse who asked several pertinent questions and explained their service procedure under the rules of Medicare. I was instructed not to call 911 but instead their number which I was told was accessible 24/7 and they were right . . . by an answering service! I had people calling dropping off unnecessary equipment (all part of the Medicare scam) and wanting to deliver prescription drugs at 1am. Thank God I had a very compassionate nurse who explained what the drugs were for considering I'm just a family member . . . not a healthcare professional. The care that was provided to my father n law was above and beyond. They treated all of us as valued family/friends. All questions were answered and there was never any rush felt in the care. All staff treated everyone dignified including my dying father n law. I could not recommend them more. It is a difficult time to consider who you want in the most delicate stage of life the end but they will more than meet expectation with kindness, gentleness and love. read more

Cabrillo Hospice has been a miracle! My 82 yo uncle was hospitalized for nearly a month and was on comfort care, awaiting a nursing facility. We had 3 different organizations looking for a facility that would accept his medi-cal, medi-care and VA benefits. We finally found Cabrillo and within 2 days they were able to verify his insurance and find him an incredible facility, Boulder Creek. We are so grateful to all of them. I have worked in the senior living industry since 2013, and have partnered with many different hospice companies. However, Cabrillo Hospices' customer service has blown us away! Sylvia was extremely professional, and hands-on during the entire move-in process (one of the residents on Cabrillo Hospice moved to our memory care community). The paperwork was completed to a "T," Sylvia arrived with the family to make sure they had everything they needed, Sylvia even brought TOWELS to help! The Cabrillo staff took the effort to meet their "go-to's" in our community, and asked what is our preferred way of communication. We're thankful to have Cabrillo partnering with us to take care of our residents on hospice. We highly suggest other communities to partner with them as well. read more

Throughout my mother's hospice The Cabrillo Hospice Team has been exceptional in their care, knowledge and support. Issues can arise on a daily or weekly basis, and I can always contact Marie with questions and concerns. Her ability to handle administrative and personal issues promptly and with loving support has been great. She is very skilled and resourceful. My mother's nurse, Julie is also amazing. Her nursing expertise gives mom the care she needs and me the reassurance that she's in good hands. Like Marie, Julie is generous with her time and knowledge, patient and professional. Corinne, the social worker has been a great help when needed. Her friendliness and positive support are a comfort. I am so very grateful to have Cabrillo Hospice guiding my mom and me through my mom's painful situation. At a very difficult time, Cabrillo Hospice came into our home to help my father with a comfortable transition. Camille came in on a Saturday and went over everything with us. She took as much time as we needed and let us ask all of our questions. We never felt rushed and we felt like we understood the process very well by the time she left. She immediately sent a hospital bed so my dad could be at home with family. She scheduled a nurse and had the necessary medications delivered that same afternoon. The nurse was supposed to come Monday, however, by Sunday my dad was unresponsive. Camille came back on Sunday from almost an hour north of us. It was on the day a hurricane was supposed to hit San Diego. The weather was terrible but she showed up with a smile and lots of supplies for us. She spent a significant amount of time with us answering more questions. She was very caring, supportive, professional, and helpful. We had never been through this before and she guided us through everything so lovingly. Even after my father's passing, we received a call from a bereavement specialist to assist us if we needed it. I could not recommend this company enough. What a blessing it was that we found them during this time. read more

This hospice is amazing. After meeting with Marie who was so nice and comforting, her team came in and they were all fantastic. I live 30 minutes from the senior home where my stepmother was and they informed me the whole way on how she was doing. They put in a hospital bed and were there to bath her and monitor her pain. This new but quickly expanding hospice company is amazing!! I can't even say enough words about how not only efficent and quick to respond they are, but also have a great personal touch. Marie, who was my first point of contact, was so easy to talk to and willing to help in any way possible that I instantly felt comfortable with and confident my residents were in good hands. Unlike other liaisons who promise you the world but only come through with a small pile of sand on a abandoned lot, if Marie tells you no problem it will be done, it's done! The nurses are also amazing, thorough, knowledgeable, quick to respond, and great with residents and family too! Mackenzie, Kelly, Bridget, Henry... all so personable, great bed side manor, great sense of humor in a sometimes not so humorous situation. I honestly haven't met one staff member who has disappointed, or dropped the ball! From the owner to the social work to the shower girl, just down to earth amazing people!!!!
