UPDATE: Since posting this initial review and after a phone call from my midwife on my behalf, I was able to get in contact with my doctor and get the answers I needed. Dr. Evayzian is a good doctor with clear communication and kind demeanor. I appreciate his time and expertise. I stand by my statement that scheduling is difficult and office communication is often disorganized, but if you are able to get in contact with Dr. Evayzian you will receive good care. ------ Initial 1-star review: Dr. Evayzian seems like a fine doctor for the brief amount of time I've seen him but scheduling is a nightmare at both locations and Dr. Evayzian is often too busy to see patients. I want to state that I know I'm not the sickest or most important person in the room. I've earnestly tried to act with patience and give the benefit of the doubt. That said, while I am evidently not important to this team, I am waiting on test results that have a huge impact on my life. I'm going to be giving birth in two months and finding out the results to my tests will determine where I'm giving birth - whether I can give birth with my chosen midwife at her practice or whether I will need to be in a more high-risk environment at the hospital with an OB. I am running out of time to make this switch and the health of me and my baby is dependent on someone returning my calls or showing up to my appointments! Here is an example of a typical experience with Cabrillo Cardiology: I had an appointment scheduled for August 28 at 10am to hear the results of two tests that had been completed 3+ weeks earlier. This was a long difficult wait as is for these results. In the car on the way to my appointment I received a missed call from Dr. Evayzian's assistant that Dr. Evayzian was late and that I should come in at 1:15. Nobody asked if this time worked for me or apologized for the inconvenience. When I tried to call back, I had to call 4 times to reach someone at the location of my appointment. The person on the line there informed me that they had no record that Dr. Evayzian would be late and that I needed to come in at 10 for my originally scheduled time. Even though I informed them of the voicemail, and the fact that the drive would take me 45 minutes each way, they still insisted I needed to come in person. Upon arrival, low and behold, Dr. Evayzian is late, and can't see me. I'm pregnant, extremely tired, and expected at work that afternoon. I'm not able to sit for for 3+ hours and wait, so I ask if we can switch to a Telehealth appointment. They agree. All afternoon I have my phone on me but I don't get a call. This Tuesday I call back and ask if there is any follow up. They inform me that they called me and I didn't pick up. I have gone through my phone logs - I have no missed calls from Cabrillo Cardiology or voicemails from Thursday afternoon. I feel gas lit, frustrated, and saddened. Now I'm told the next time someone will have time to call me is 9 days away. 9 days! And not even Dr. Evayzian himself, just his assistant . For a simple phone call! Am I healthy or am I not? Where will I be having this baby? I'm nearly in tears. I can confidently say that Cabrillo Cardiology is the most forgotten I have ever felt as a patient. And I used to be with Kaiser! I cannot recommend this group and will strongly be advising my primary care physician to not send patients here. All the nurses are really kind and lovely. Shout out to the gal who does my EKG in Camarillo and the ladies who helped me get set up with my holter monitor in Oxnard. Y'all are the silver lining of my experience. read more

I recently became a new patient of Dr. Schmidt and he is by far the most attentive doctor I've ever met. He took his time to listen to my concerns and initiated a series of thorough exams for me. Each time I arrived for my appointments the office was extremely busy but the front office staff handled it very well. I also had a great experience with Joey who conducted my stress test. He went above and beyond to make my first ever stress test comfortable. When it was time for my 2D Echo exam I was a little nervous but a young lady by the name of Salvine conducted the exam and was very friendly which helped me get through the process smoothly. I highly recommend Dr. Schmidt. Now I know why he is the highest rated cardiologist in this area. I will remain his patient as long as I live in Ventura County. Thank you Dr. Schmidt! read more

I would honestly give NEGATIVE star rating if it were possible within Yelp. Allow me to explain. My (elderly) father-in-law has been seeing Dr. Schmidt for more than 30 years and as such you might expect there to be some level of desire to provide even basic customer service. NOPE! My wife and I, for at least 3 weeks, have been calling (multiple times) DAILY to request an updated procedure for blood thinners in advance of a surgical procedure in the coming week. Quite honestly, I can make 3 observations; 1) Dr. Schmidt is not ever in the office 2) The office staff has no desire or incentive to provide even basic "customer service" 3) Dr. Schmidt does not respond to requests for details or patient questions. These are NOT accusations. These are FACTS supported by the actions of both the doctor and the office staff. Let's add a little more to this review...shall we? The hours that the office (allegedly) answers the phone is a JOKE. Multiple (dozens) of attempts to call and speak to a person only result in you leaving a voicemail (not sure why they even have a voicemail service because NOBODY listens to them). The audio prompt on their greeting indicates that if it's an "emergency", please call back and this time depress #3 and have the person paged to the phone. Option #3 is to the APPOINTMENT DESK...I have experienced MULTIPLE calls where this line is NOT PICKED-UP for 10, 15 even 20+ minutes. COME ON! You have to wait 20 minutes to get somebody to answer? (OH and when they did answer and I asked for the person to be paged, all they did was drop me into their voicemail box.) I was told that the definition of insanity was doing the EXACT SAME THING OVER ANS OVER AGAIN...expecting a different result. THIS OFFIVE MEETS THIS DEFINITION IN SPADES! Only after threatening to open a formal compliant with the Medical Board of California did I get some action. (This was done after 3 weeks of goading, pleading and complaining.) IT SHOULD NOT BE THIS HARD! Hey, as you read this, please don't take my singular (long) complaint as gospel...no! Read some of the other reviews! Yeah, go on and read them! THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED COMPLAINT! It's a sad state of affairs when such a medical practice is so very screwed-up. CONCLUSION: If you're looking for a cardiologist...KEEP LOOKING. Dr Rothschild treated my husband for an emergency surgery at St johns. Surgery went smooth. 2 years after surgery it has been imposible to see him for follow ups. The office and personal nurse DONT RETURN CALLS. We get no report from blood test or stress test because patient needs to see doctor but doctor is not available for appointments. These unanswered calls regarding medications have brought husband back to hospital do to over medication of blood thinners. It seems once surgery was performed the doctor and the office had no time for follow ups. This is dangerous and very irresponsable read more

This review is for Dr. Sovari only. The front staff have always been polite and helpful, the EKG techs are always punctual and kind, and we are very happy with our other cardiologist there. Dr. Sovari was very personable and knowledgable during the Watchman Device consult. However, he does not follow up with his patients after the surgery. My grandmother's procedure was in January and her follow-up appointment keeps getting rescheduled at the last minute, usually as we are about to leave for the appointment. As it stands now it will happen ~2 months after when it should have occurred. In the meantime, when I call and ask relevant medical questions (i.e. should she continue using blood thinners), or inform the doctor of relevant hospitalizations (head injuries requiring hospitalization), I do not receive any follow-up information aside from "make an appointment." And instead of demonstrating a modicum of concern, his medical assistant says "Well I can request hospital records if you want, but Dr. Sovari doesn't work at that hospital." I know this, that is why I am informing his staff...so he can be informed about his patient. Also, bizarrely, whenever I get a similar non-answer or non-commitment for basic medical care, his MA hopes I have a great day...and tells me to make an appointment with the front desk. Dr. Sovari seems to be completely focused on performing surgery, without regard to follow up care. He is the first doctor I have come across who isn't interested in a patient's hospital records if they do not originate at his hospital of choice. If this does not reflect his professional opinion, he may want to cancel a surgery sometime and conduct a training day with his staff. I'm not happy about being stuck in a dead-end cycle of "having a great day" with zero patient care. There is no reason we should not receive a call with answers to pertinent questions since we continue to do the relevant lab work and imagining, inform his office of relevant developments, and have attempted many times in good faith to keep our appointments. read more

I would make this negative if I could. I have been seeing Dr. Schmidt for over 20 years. He is an excellent doctor and I would give him 5 stars. But the office staff is horrible and has no respect for patients. It is almost impossible to get through on the telephone. When they do answer they are rude and not at all helpful. I have arrived for appointments only to be told that they left me a message the previous day to cancel. I never received any messages and showed them my phone. They argued with me and became angry that I would doubt them. I will never go back there again. I do hope that Dr. Schmidt wises up and leaves this practice. They are the worst. As a recommendation from my primary doctor, i went to DR Schmidt, here at Cabrillo Cardiology. he suggested having some complete blood tests performed and I had a treadmill stress testing, chemical stress test. just to make sure everything was okay. I was borderline for a heart attack. They say that Hypertension is the Silent killer. A third of Americans have it and do not know it, there are no symptoms, additionally my cholesterol is high (it is hereditary in my family but im not giving up bacon...). I was given recommended dietary guidelines and to increase some exercise. This treatment plan is proving to be very effective and have continued to be monitored to be sure I am on track. As far as I am concerned, Dr. Schmidt could save your life too. Dr. Schmidt is ahead of curve in patent care and knowledge of the most important system of the body the the circulatory system! I highly recommend everyone to see Dr. Schmidt and the crew at Cabrillo Cardiology, at least for a simple blood test for the most neglected and important muscle in the body do it, just for the Health of it. read more

This is the most unprofessional medical group I have ever experienced. Their office personal are rude, and act as if they are doing you a huge favor just to talk to you. I had an appointment for a quadruple bypass followup with Dr. Wang, and was called two days before to inform me that the consultation would be done by phone instead of in their office. I was available at the appointed time and after approximately 3/4 of an hour they did not call. When I called them, the person who answered my call acted like I was I was being insolent for not just waiting for her call. I was having severe chest pain due to stress. I was very nervous when I walked into the doctor's office. He started with a joke and I felt very comfortable, just being in his presence I knew I was in good hands. The man is an absolute professional in all ways. He recommended some exercises and no medication. Most importantly, he told me to calm down and be at ease. I felt positive after meeting with him. I highly recommend him, he's a great man. read more

I just posted this review for Cabrillo Cardiology on Los Posas Rd in Camarillo ... but I think this is the location we visited. Anyway ... here it is again! My mother has supplemental insurance that limits her choice of providers. After she was referred to a Cardiologist, I started looking at the few names she could go see, and Cabrillo and Dr. Scott Zager were on her list. Dr. Zagers healthgrades were great, so we chose and scheduled with him. I attended her appointments and tests, and have to say, I have never met a more congenial, caring physician. He asked A LOT of questions about her health history, to really understand who she was, and what her body had been through. He chatted amiably and reassured her that he would do everything he could to get to the bottom of her medical issue, and he did. As a daughter of an elderly parent, I can promise you that you will receive the best care under Dr. Zager. I would not hesitate to recommend him. The front office staff was really nice in Camarillo. The woman doing the echo test in Oxnard was quiet, but professional. read more

This place is messed up. The front staff treats you like an object and dismisses any questions. They operate from behind a glass wall like you are a security risk and won't answer phones from 12-2pm. Wait times to see a Dr. are 6 weeks, you get there and have to wait hours past your appointment time and no one will communicate how delayed they are. If you ask the front desk they just dismiss you like you are a bother. They lose appointment times, I observed two people arriving to appointments and then told they don't have an appointment. I received a call 2 hrs. before my Echo and stress test appointment claiming they can't schedule stress tests in the morning, only Echo so I would have to make two trips. The Dr. answers text and phone calls while you are being treated (I hope they were emergencies), I guess I should have called in rather than visiting in person. I was told to get a blood test and take a bunch of tests urgently then never heard back from anyone. What good are the tests if you don't get results? The Dr.'s may be the best there is but the office will probably give you a heart attack before you make it through the exam door. read more
