I've been here for a Mavs game and for a concert, and my opinion is this is as forgettable a venue as you're going to experience. From the get-go, it's off the highway, surrounded by chain restaurants, beige as a south Johnson County exurb, and overall just forgettable. There's a sea of parking, yet they charged $25 the night of our concert. It's not well-organized and be prepared to sit in traffic afterwards for a long time. Inside is more blah, cut corners, and personality-less space. One good thing is they have a water bottle station so after you've been gauged for a bottle of water, you can at least get more. We had floor seats that were priced to be better than they were. The view was similar to bobbing up and down on the ocean, occasionally getting views of the horizon but slowly slipping back and hard to see most times. There was a surprising lack of screens or lights or really anything. We watched people nearly bite it every ten seconds as the cord wrap device didn't have lights down the main aisle, and the aisles were marked with some hastily printed paper. Acoustics were pretty good, but dare I say.. it could have been louder? I feel like that's a subjective thing, so hard to tell but it was harder to get into it based on the sightlines and volume. I want to be clear the artist I saw was amazing and I'd follow him anywhere, but I hope it's not here next time they roll into town. read more

My mom and I attended Mercy Me concert 4/25, my sister drove us do that we did not have to pay for parking the drop off area was a little confusing but we finally made it to the doors. The arena itself was a nice venue. It was clean as well as the bathrooms. There were plenty of concession areas along the way to our seats. I had not been to this arena before so I was unfamiliar with the set up. My mom has a hard time walking distance plus going up and down stairs so it would have been nice to have area where we sat for her to walk to/from our seats to the main floor-I think we were Section 103 Row A seats 3 & 4. While attending the kc mavericks game at the cable dahmer arena, we had a great time enjoying the food, atmosphere, and game! I will say, the food prices are definitely pricey. it was $16 for chicken tenders and fries which seems like a lot. it was expected to be pricey but that's pushing it. The staff was very friendly and was eager to help. We especially enjoyed the music that was played during the game, it was relavant and not the same old songs you hear at other sporting events! 2025 prices are up! This place gives me mixed feelings. I have seen quite a bit of different shows and events here over the last 6 years. It's near home so it's convenient. I just feel kinda ripped off having to pay for parking now. Doesn't seem like we used to pay for parking when it was owned by Silverstein. Maybe it's just sports you don't pay for parking, but now, 2025, everything has gone up from just a few months ago. $5.00 fees on each ticket (at the box office) and the "pre-paid parking" is now $15 instead of $10, if you pay the day of the event, the parking is $25! That's stupid! I'm not sorry for saying. This will likely be our last time coming here. I just don't see the value anymore. Too bad. We have had some good times here. I'm also still a bit disappointed the last couple of team sporting events were not family friendly. Seems folks just don't know how to behave decently when in mixed company. Shouting expletives right behind us with two kids, on "Kids Day." I did email them about this and got told that I should report this to one of the ushers and they will move you. I don't feel like that's a good answer, especially if I paid for seats on glass. We haven't been back to a team sports event since. That was around 2022. We had a similar experience where people were obviously belligerent drunk and shouting cuss words, at a women's indoor football game. They definitely need a policy (if they don't have one yet), if there's a complaint and you're acting inappropriately they will throw you out. (Anonymous text line works well at other venues.) There's just no need to be acting like your at a bar when there's kids around. Final thoughts, I agree with other reviews there's no real "bad seats" in the house because it is smaller. We have made many memories here, Circus, concerts, fight night, hockey, monster trucks.... But I'm really going to have to weigh the pros and cons before attending something here again. read more

This is my first experience at a Minor League Hockey Game. My first love was Hockey, I went to a Los Angeles Kings game back home in Southern California and that was amazing. The buzzer, brings the crowds to life like NOTHING I've ever seen. The fan base was fun, the lines moved quickly, and items were priced fairly. The fries and cheese sauce tasted pretty good as well. It was easy to find my seats, and the aisles had SO MUCH space in between. I was able to walk by others without even having them get up! Overall parking was a breeze, and I loved the speakers and the view from my seat. Everybody was friendly and able to help. I can't wait to go back again. Mavericks won! OT! Shoot out! read more

Still love hockey, but it doesn't seem quite the same as it used to. The building is still in good shape and there is a lot of parking for handicap cars, probably not quite enough though bc we were 30 minutes early and got the last spot. The arena is pretty loud, but that is to be expected. Food is WAY overpriced; this is a minor league team guys. $5 for a bottle of pop or water is insane. We had a great time at the game though, and got to watch some good hockey. I'm sad about the name and logo change, the Hunt's made a mistake there. I get them wanting to keep the KC brand name, but there was nothing wrong with the MO Mavericks name and it was more accurate since the team is in INDEPENDENCE, NOT KC. The black and orange is also horrible, very halloweenish and off putting. Once we got past the shock of the changes (we had season tickets right up until the year the Hunt family bought them and jacked up the prices over 30% & attempted to implement a charge for parking) since the last time we attended we did have fun because, after all, it is hockey. :-) read more

I've been to a few events at Cable Dahmer Arena over the years and it seems regardless of who owns it (it has changed hands a few times since its inception), we have enjoyed ourselves. The facility is clean, parking nearby is easy as is getting in and out. We went over the weekend to a Comets Indoor Soccer match. I really like this venue for concerts and events because it's not too big, and not too small. There really isn't a bad seat in the house, but it's big enough to accommodate fairly large crowds. Parking is also a breeze, and the cost is reasonable at $5-$10. Everyone who works at Silverstein Eye Centers seems to be well trained. They are consistently friendly and knowledgeable. They truly go out of their way to make guests feel welcome. My only complaint about this venue is that the concessions are very expensive. Last weekend I paid $27 for two pretzels with cheese, and two small fountain drinks. I understand that concessions are always expensive at concerts and events, but if a venue charges such prices I would appreciate having cup holders in the arena seating area. Once we paid $27 for our snacks and drinks we had no place to set them. Thankfully we had empty seats next to us so we set our drinks on the floor to the side so we didn't knock them over, but in a crowd this would have been really inconvenient and potentially messy. In all, this is a great smaller concert and sporting venue that I enjoy visiting. It's much easier and more convenient than visiting other venues in KC, and it's a well run establishment. read more

Attempted to see the Jim Gaffigan show. The arena does not have adequate traffic flow to get in. We sat on 40 highway for 30 minutes in gridlock. We tried to go another way and it was also gridlock. We gave up. Once we were back on 70, we saw that the parking lot was full so it wouldn't have even mattered if we got close enough to park. The show as supposed to start at 8pm and we aren't even close enough to see the arena. Can't say anything about the inside because we couldn't even get NEAR the place. Never coming here again. Sad I'm losing out on my tickets. They were a gift and that is ruined. If you are going to bring in big name acts, you need to figure out a better way to get people in. Don't get suckered into buying tickets for anything at this place. -1000 stars. read more

For a sold-out concert, I would have thought more of the food options would have been open, but I did get some funnel cake fries that were absolutely delicious. Only knock would be that they made me take a bag of peanuts back to my car? I can take an entire BBQ dinner from LC's to Kaufman but a small bag of peanuts was over the top. *Let me just start with my rating has NOTHING to do with the show itself/performance* So I went to this venue last night for the first time for a concert. Billie Eilish is my all time favorite music artist, so nothing could ruin her act for me. But the many hours leading up to this show was an absolute nightmare. We got to the venue at 9:30AM so that we could get a good spot for GA Floor. We got there and there were lines formed on both the side of the building and in front of the main entrance. There was no clear rhyme or reason to the lines/mobs that had already formed. So I messaged the venue and asked what line was what (since there was NO ONE physically at the venue to direct anyone or answer questions). Then they messaged me back stating that GA floor needs to line up on the left side of the building. But people in line said the main entrance is where you line up for GA floor. So we (luckily) chose to stick to the line with the most people which was in front of the main entrance. Hours went by and then finally maybe 3 workers came out. They proceeded to try and differentiate lines by saying the left entrance was GA seats, front entrance was GA floor and VIP was the right. So we stayed put for a few more hours. Then new people showed up and started to cut in line and jump to the front by sneaking into the fire lane that we were told not to stand in. So then we were told to fill that lane to prevent people cutting. THEN an hour before opening the doors they tried to tell us all to go to the BACK of the line for standing in the fire lane, EVEN THOUGH people told us to move up to that. All we did was follow instructions given to us but the security people had extremely poor communication between each other. After standing in the hot sun for 8 hours, getting burned despite bringing umbrellas, and using portapotties that had no toilet paper, they had the audacity to try and send us to the back of the line which was at that point wrapped SO FAR. So we didn't move and just didn't listen because there was no way I stood out there for nothing. Finally we got in, and people next to me were people who had cut us just an hour before showtime. Then during the show at least 6 people passed out due to heat exhaustion. This was by FAR the most unorganized concert venue I've been to, and not to brag but I've been to tons of concerts. So I will never be going to this venue again unless it's an artist I'm dying to see. read more

The Independence Events Center is a smaller midsized venue and home to the very popular Missouri Mavericks (hockey) and Missouri Comets (indoor soccer) as well as some other events including concerts, high school basketball and wrestling tournaments, cheerleading competitions and even some MMA fights. Feel free to check the schedule. The sight lines are easy, clean and allow you a good view of the action no matter where you are. There is even an air of intimacy because even if you're at the top you can still feel close to the action. And yes, the parking is free for every vehicle. Big selling point. Want to have fun and take the kids? A Mavericks or a Comets match is a good place to start. read more

I visited the Shopping Extravaganza for charity here. I live in Independence, but I've never been to the events center. Ofcourse, this wasn't a sporting event. But there's 2 restaurants ran by Simeca's sausage, and a President's Club area. There's atleast one set of bathrooms, which was clean and roomy. Not bad. You go inside, and ofcourse, the inside area event I went to had hundreds of boutique booths, and Christopher Elbow Chocolates. Several local vegan bakeries were there. And a few beauty salons..finally got a feather extension from Salon Nuvo's in Lee's Summit, who's booth seemed to be the most popular, except for the one with the chocolate. As for the facility, it is where the Missouri Maverick's play. While others might be irritated by the round-about-ads that are lit up around the bleachers, I find them fascinating and can stare at them....maybe I''m weird. The sound system: I have no idea how anyone could've enjoyed Rob Zombie who played there last year, cause the sound cuts through you like a knife, leaving penetrating reverberation. I considered going to see Zombie, being a fan, but now I'm glad I reconsidered. The place is loud, and the sound could be improved upon. You don't enter it from the "front" the "front" is on the side. Parking is plentiful. That can be confusing. All in all, whether it's a sports event, or an event like I attended, it is a nice facility to have in Independence, MO. read more

Came here on a Saturday evening for a Mavrick's hockey game. Here are some pros and cons: -Parking is free!!!! -All the seats have an excellent view of the ice and are very comfortable -Snacks are cheaper than most sporting events -They announce before the game that they do not tolerate cursing and to tell an usher if you hear any. -There are snacks out in the halls and vendors who walk up and down the stairs during the game. -The jumbo-tron screen/ camera work isn't the best -The "special effects" during the Mascot/ team entrance were pathetic. I actually laughed out loud at how pathetic they were. -They should probably get better sponsors than Hooter's, IHOP, and Sonic. You're not going to feel like you're in a big city, professional game but you get a clear view of the ice and I never once got tired of sitting because the seats were so comfy! read more

Went to a comedy show here. Seats are kinda small and squished together. Not for bigger people. I'm a small person and the person next to me kept touching me. Since we're looking in only on direction for like 2 hours it hurts your neck. People on the floor got to look forward but the seats on the floor didn't look very comfortable. Seems like this place is only good for sporting events. Food was an ok price. Got nachos for $6. Alcoholic drinks were outrageous for this event. $9.50 for a beer/ mixed drink!! Went to see Jim gafigan last night and he was great! I was on schedule to arrive 30 min early so I could grab a drink and find my seat. When I made the bend on 470 I was shocked to see traffic backed up and people swerving to avoid a collision. We sat in gridlock traffic for 50 min trying to get into the event. We ended up parking in a lot across the street and walking since we were now already 20 min late. The opening act was good and I wish I could have heard more. I can't say much for the event space since we walked in and straight to our seats. Thank you Silverstein for ruining what should have been a great night! The parking in this venue is abysmal. It took us 45 minutes to park upon arrival. They sent about 100 cars to an area that was full. Everyone had to slowly wrap back around to the entrance. And then, since we were back at the entrance, we got promoted to pay again! The parking attendants had no clue what was going on. They don't communicate on walkie talkies so they have no idea when one area is full or not. They are just trying to yell at each other from one side of the lot to the other. The attendants were apologetic. It wasn't their fault. It seems like the event organizers do not set their staff up for success. The concourses inside the arena are small and not suited for concert people traffic. They failed to realize that it's a venue where the floor space can be used for seating, which adds more people, more people traffic and more cars. The traffic just getting to the venue was terrible too. The city did not plan well for high traffic to any high capacity event here. That is evident. It's sandwiched between local businesses. The place is a failure all around. Avoid this venue for anything other than a sporting event. read more

I've only been here for Comets games so I have no experience with concerts or other events. However, for KC indoor soccer, this is a nice, convenient venue. Seating is easy to get to, plenty of concessions and parking is free and decent. We also go regularly to Sporting KC games and the venues are not comparable. Some reviewers hated the Independence Events Center, but I've personally had no issues! Ushers have been friendly and polite. Getting through the door has been quick and without delay. It's also small enough where every seat in this venue is going to be a pretty good one. read more

We came here for the first time today, to see the Harlem Globetrotters, having specifically chosen this venue over the Sprint Center. We felt like it would be easier to get good tickets here, rather than in the much larger Sprint Center. I like that you feel like you're pretty close to the floor, no matter where your seat is. None of those ten story high nose bleed sections like you see in some massive arenas. We were in Row G and that was plenty close. The Harlem Globetrotters put on a great game. I'd never been before and so all the good clean fun was new to me. It's the kind of entertainment you can take your entire family to and not have to worry that something unsuitable will be said or done. I love that the Globetrotters interact with children so much. No wonder there were tons of children laughing at all the Globetrotter antics and buying up souvenir basketballs. What a nice touch that the Globetrotters sign those balls after the game. It was great for my husband and I because we hurried out during that period, walked the very long distance to our car and drove out of the lot before it got crazy with too many people. It doesn't seem well designed for entrances and exits. Also, for the earlier reviews that talked about parking is free--- it isn't. We paid five dollars which isn't an exorbitant amount but the line to pay does hold things up enough that you should factor having to sit in a line when you come to the arena for any event. read more

I prepaid for preferred parking for a concert at Cable Dahmer Arena last night. They oversold parking tickets and the venue was completely full. I had parking associates telling me to PARK ON THE CURB. So I bought a parking pass 4 months before the event and wasn't allowed actual parking the day of because they oversold parking passes? That being said I was late to my concert because I circled the parking lot three times before parking in a rock bed. I was absolutely disappointed. Such an unprofessional manner of handling a public event. If parking is going to be $45 you HAVE to have actual parking spaces to accommodate. Extremely disappointing. What a great place to see a concert or hockey game. When then built this venue, they obviously knew what they were doing. The sight-lines are great, acoustics right-on and their staff is beyond friendly. They know how to do an event right. The treat you as a guest as opposed to most large-scale venues where they herd you in like cattle. Add on top of that, free parking, reasonably priced food and beverages and you're golden! They also hold a good gun show on this side of town, which rarely happens. Not everything needs to happen downtown or in JoCo!!! read more

The fact that the Events Center blocks off one side of Valley View Pkwy to let drivers out of the parking lot, redirecting them (and drivers headed toward 40 hwy) toward I-70, is ridiculous. It's unnecessary and a huge inconvenience. They don't have police presence, it's just some kid in a slightly reflective vest with a very dim light redirecting traffic. He's very difficult to see at night and has almost been hit, by us and many other cars, on more than one occasion. I've called the police and complained about it and they said it was illegal for them to block off the road without police presence, yet, they continue to do it. It shows how motivated the police are to take care of something that backs up traffic and is potentially dangerous to the person directing traffic. The utter stupidity of the redirection of traffic has black listed the Events Center in my book. read more

I recently visited the Independence Events center for my sister's graduation ceremony. While seemingly sparkly and new, the events center is seriously flawed and left me questioning the city of Independence's planning/zoning board. The complex is visible from the highway, however I had no idea which exit to take to get there. After traveling several blocks through what I would deem "the valley of the shadow of death by chain restaurants," I finally found the entrance to the events center parking lot (there's a small, plain sign somewhere near the Golden Corral parking lot). An orange vest-clad parking staff greeted me and signaled a spot for me to park in- and somehow I passed at least 8 empty parking spots on my trek to the entrance. I met my family inside, including my two grandmothers. One of my grandmothers uses a walker to get around. An events center staff member told my dad that there is a section for people with walkers/wheelchairs to sit, so we took his advice and walked toward that section. The handicap section only had about 20 seats in it, and we were told that only one family member can sit with the person with the disability. What the hell kind of policy is that? Since there were at least 10 of us, we asked for another option. The events staff member was eager to dismiss us, and sent us upstairs to where the suites are. So, my entire family including two octogenarians went upstairs to find- guess what- all the suites to be locked. Eventually we gave up and just carefully assisted my grandmother down the stairs to the regular seating. When the ceremony was over, another events staff member told my grandmother that she needed to exit through some secret door behind a curtain rod (so as not to be trampled or in the way?) This again was infuriating, as only one family member was allowed to assist her; the rest of us had to exit through the main doors and then reconnect with them. The final cherry on the top of this turd cupcake was that it took me 45 minutes to exit the parking lot after this event. The orange vested crew members were seemingly useless in controlling traffic. We all just sat there and hoped we didn't run out of gas. DO: go to the Independence Events Center if you like hockey and do not require special arrangements for persons with disabilities (well, disabilities other than liking hockey). DO NOT: choose to walk at your master's program graduation ceremony if it is at the Independence Events Center and you have a family member attending that uses a walker. DO: fill up your car with gas before going to the Independence Events Center, because you will be sitting in your car for at least 45 minutes. Maybe also bring one of those roadside bingo games. DO NOT: put your car in park and walk over to Golden Corral. Ever, really. read more

It's not that I was surprised by how nice the Independence Events Center is - from the outside you can see that it looks nice. But I couldn't help but wonder if it was just a facade. It's not. This place is nice all the way to the core. From the perspective of a visitor, everything was as it should be. Parking was easy and not ridiculously far away, even though we were almost late and it was cold. Concessions areas were plentiful, restrooms were clean and easy to find. The Missouri Comets, part of the Major Indoor Soccer League, are part of the equation that help Sporting KC fans get through the off-season. My first trip to the Independence Event Center was tonight to see the Missouri Mavericks play the Mississippi Riverkings. The venue is great for an intimate hockey game. Not too big and not too small. I grew up watching hockey in Minnesota. I won't tell you how many years it has been since I've been to a hockey game, but I had a blast tonight. I found the venue to be easy to navigate and was able to see the action of the game. I don't think there is a bad seat in the house. I also liked the fact that parking is free and you don't have to walk forever to get to the venue, regardless of where you park. read more
