I was initially going to have Best Buy install my two TVs, but I heard about Thumbtack and reached out for a quote. I emailed James on a Sunday, and although it was a weekend, James promptly answered all of my questions on the same day (and I sent him a ton of emailes), so I scheduled the service. The service tech (Anthony) called me in the morning and let me know when he would be arriving. Anthony arrived on time and promptly and professionally installed my two TVs. Cable connections came to my business to give us a quote on replacing some cameras. When the technician showed up we showed him our old system that was there when we bought the building. He told us he could probably get the existing cameras back online for now. So we agreed to allow him to play around with them. In a matter of minutes he had the existing cameras back up and running. He still gave us the quote for adding some more cameras to the property. The customer service really goes a long way. This company could have just quoted us for a while new system. However they took the time to help us save some money by getting our old cameras operational. Now we can see our cameras remotely from our phones. This company is great. read more

He called before the appointment let me know the time he would be there, he was on time and on site truly awesome. He followed through with everything from start to finish. I hired this company to assist with maintenance to a coax connection that I wanted to use for an internet hookup, but it wasn't properly set up. I spoke with James on the phone who was very knowledgeable and upfront about the possible issues and pricing. He scheduled an appointment with me promptly and actually took the appointment himself as a courtesy so I wouldn't have to repeat my issue to a separate technician. When he arrived, he solved the issue quickly and efficiently, and even helped with diagnosing some other issues while he was there, that were not related to this particular service call. Did a quick Google search and found Cable Connexions and they installed the same TV for $129.99. They guy was on time, worked with my schedule, installed the TV in 7 minutes flat, and cleaned up after himself. Could not have asked for a better service. read more

Smart TVs and dumb contractors don't mix - so do yourself a favor and don't hire this contractor. We hired James Burns to install a 2-zone home theater system, in August. To date we have paid him more than $5000, but the system was never completed, never properly 2-zone capable, and the sub-woofer buzzed even when the entire system was turned off. He also sold us a universal remote control that was not even universally programmed to work all of our equipment. To make matters worse, it was programmed to always turn the TV on when you turned it off, rendering the remote control useless. I would have re-programmed it myself, but the catch is that the remote can only be programmed by him at $75/hour. The biggest problem here is that Burns deceived us about the problem with his 2-zone design, and what would be required to fix it. He scheduled repairs to this system on five different occasions and failed to keep the appointment each time - costing us dozens of hours of vacation from work. After consulting the BBB and our attorneys, we've had the system and most of the equipment replaced professionally. We've asked that Mr Burns come to retrieve his unusable equipment and provide a fair refund, which he has refused. Of course, he claims that the the equipment is used, even though it was unusable by us. By the way, the buzz in the sub-woofer was due to the use of unshielded cable, rather than professional grade coaxial cable, as well as a ground loop. Corners were cut at every opportunity on our job. Burns never could get the Apple Air Play to work, saying, "He was not an Apple guy." You should see the amazingly bad repair job they did on the hole they made in our ceiling - in our experience, he's not much of a dry wall guy or a home theater guy. read more

I called James and asked them for a quote to see if they could quickly turn around a TV install for me. Not only did they get back to me quickly, but they scheduled an appointment the same day! James and one of his co-workers (sorry - forgot the name) gave me a time window and also called me 10 minutes before stopping over. They were on-time and very friendly during the install - measuring the viewing distance and angle for proper placement and height. They were also very patient as I sat in two or three different spots to see the viewing angle before finalizing the install. All in I paid less for the entire install with Cable Connexions (including them providing the wall mount) then I would have spent on the mount alone at Best Buy. James also provided me with their insurance certificate which is a thing everyone should look for with any service company - especially for things such as this which attracts a lot of "handyman" quotes. I was casually browsing TV mounting services when I came across this gem. I emailed them late on a Monday evening asking for a price quote. I really wasn't expecting to get a response right away, but to my surprise I received a response within five minutes. After giving them my information, I was called by the customer service representative the following day to set up my appointment. I was notified of all the expected charges for the work to be done, so there were no random add-on costs. The technician, James, who actually did the work arrived on time and was able to mount my 55 inch television on a full-motion mount within 20 minutes! And I could not be more pleased with his work! These guys are good! I recently had a home theater installation and could not be more satisfied. It turned out just the way I imagined. James was able to install my ceiling mounted speakers with no holes that needed patching or repairs and the wiring job was neat and hidden. He came out to the site and performed a review of the equipment I had purchased, gave recommendations to make the perfect installation, and never pressured me into additional " upgraded services ". I had a TV over the fireplace, and needed them to run cords up over a window (which was next to the fireplace), across about three studs, and down the other side. James had good communication leading up to the job. I sent him some pictures, and he told me what they could and couldn't do. There were also some unexpected challenges once he got behind the wall, but he was good at figuring out the best solution, and keeping me posted on what was happening. I was initially very excited to work with Cable Connexions LLC. Gus was very professional on the phone. The issues started happening the day my TV was to be installed. I received a call the day of installation that they would not be able to install the TV due to a medical emergency with the technicians family member. After inquiring if arrangements could be made to call us back to see if a different technician could install the TV, since this appointment had been scheduled 2 weeks ago, Jess called back to say a technician would be able to be at our home at 1:30 PM instead of the originally scheduled 10-12 timeframe. This would have been great except no one ever showed up!! After multiple attempts to reach an individual in the office my wife and I gave up. I left a message asking to call me on Monday to explain what had happened. Monday came and I still did not hear from anyone...I decided to try one last time as the rating for this company had been very good and I really just wanted my TV installed. I called and reached the same individual who had originally said the technician would be at our home at 1:30pm. She said she didn't know what had happened and would talk to her boss since she saw my paperwork on her desk but with no notes. She contacted me later that day and said the technician finished his prior job late and didn't bother to let anyone know he would not make it to our job. She said they would be letting that technician go...which I really didn't care about....I still had a brand new TV in the box waiting to be installed. She said she could have a team to install the TV that week and she would discount the mounting by $20 dollars. I decided...once again...to give them a chance. The technician called me the morning of the install to discuss when he would be at my home and the specifics of the job. I told him I would not personally be there, it would be my wife and that what I wanted when he was mounting the TV was to leave enough room under the TV so the sound bar would not block the remote receiver. I called my wife while they were doing the job and he assured my wife that the way he was mounting the TV was how we had discussed but he left his cell phone number on the Invoice so if I had any questions I could call him. When I arrived home, the TV was not mounted as I had requested. I had to stand up in order for the remote to be recognized by the TV as he had mounted it too low and the sensor was blocking the TV sensor. I called the technician to discuss this and he blew up on the phone. He admitted he had mounted the TV wrong but said the only thing he could do was drill new holes in my limestone fireplace. He then angrily hung up the phone. The next morning he called and left a message on my cell phone apoligizing for yelling at me on the phone and said he would like to come out and fix the issue after speaking with his boss. He said he had some family issues last night and that was why he was swearing and yelling on the phone...can you believe this!! I should post the phone message he left me, I had to listen to it twice to believe what I was hearing. Lastly a supervisor called me to try to remedy the situation and I could go on and on but it all came down to when it was convenient for them to come out to my home to fix the issue and the only guy they wanted to send was the guy who messed up the job originally and then yelled at me as if it was my fault....like I'm going to let someone like that back in my home!! So needless to say I said I would hire out with a different company but there was no way these guys would be coming back to my home. I will never do business with this company and not only would I not recommend them but will tell my friend, family and colleagues to not utilize this company, not matter what the deal. They had one of the cheapest prices for the mount and install but I see now you get what you pay for. If you are looking for cheap work done poorly these are the guys you want.
