Order a 40v Strikemaster ice auger with a free spare battery per their Boxing Day sale and got an email today stating my order has been cancelled because of stock. No where in the flyer does it state limited quantities or while supplies last but they won't honour the deal. Wasted 2 hrs calling the store directly but no one can give a straight answer. I love this place! I find staff is friendly and knowledgeable in their departments and they will make sure that you are fully helped before assisting someone else. I frequent the gun/hunting and fishing sections when I go and it's always been an excellent experience. Hours there have changed for the better or back to the original hours (depending how you want to view it) so they open at 9am again. Always a good thing to visit the bargain cave when your here, there are some good gems in there from time to time. read more

Cabelas is an iconic outdoor hunting and fishing store that remember first visiting in ND and Minesota. I can remember going to one years ago and amazed with their selection of hunting and fishing and camping gear. It's a place where rednecks can be rednecks. Hunters can search for their next weapons. People who fish can revel in their copious selection and dream of that next huge fish on the line. Outdoors enthusiasts can prepare themselves to head out in the bushes. If you are into the outdoors this is your heaven. Their major competitor is Bass pro shops but Cabela's understand their trade well. The new Winnipeg location has a great entrance like many of the other stores. You enter and it looks like a museum of taxidermy animals and a huge fireplace. It's a large store. Selection is vast and pricing is a premium. One of the things I was looking for was a big fish tank with huge fish. However not one present here. We came to look at some camping gear. There was a very large selection and a few associates came by to ask if we needed help. Overall if you are a Duck Dynasty type or Bob Izumi this is your wheelhouse. read more

Bought a Shimano Reel that I paid over $400 for. It is now 23 days and still nothing (shipping to BP). Supposed to collect at the store. Super stupid slow shipping. I reached out 2x to get an update. The first response was "soon" and when I sent a sarcastic reply - you aren't doing your job email I finally got an answer that my reel was sent out and will take 4-5 days to get here by truck. That was April 17 and still nothing. Guys I made the purchase on April 6th! Why so slow when you are showing stock. That's why I bought from you but it appears that was not true as I have purchased from other local fishing stores and had it shipped out the next day Also there is no way to get an update online or to see your shipping status - you need to get with the times guys. This is pathetic. The local mom and pop shops are doing much better than you guys. This will be my last large fishing purchase from you guys. I feel like I was lied to just to get my order. Update: following up on my order after 16 days - this is the response: Unfortunately, items purchased to be delivered to the store do not come with tracking. You will have to wait for the store to contact you when it arrives and is ready for pick up. I find it hard to believe that you cannot get me a better answer - just laziness is all. I work in Manufacturing and EVERY order I ship out I can get an update on its location and ETA, so for Cabela's to say this to me is Bull $#*! This is my favorite Cabela's outlet. It's closed to my home and the staff is awesome like baked possum!

If you are shopping online, under no circumstances should you choose this joke of an establishment. "Prided on their fast shipping" they don't even care enough to look at the product you ordered, they just throw it in a ups box. My order came 3 days late, which is irritating enough, aside from the fact it was a birthday present, and I made arrangements to ensure prompt delivery. They didn't even send it out to UPS for two entire business days. I could forgive this, everybody slacks off sometimes. But when it finally did arrive, I gave the box to my dad, very excited for his reaction. And what's in the box ? Some paper stuffing, and an empty product box. My father thought it was a joke, and you can imagine the embarrassment and shock I was in. I called head office to let them know my issue, and they had the nerve to offer me a "10$ voucher for your next visit", telling me there was not a thing they could do, until I returned the empty box. I have sent back the box, and here I sit nearly 2 weeks later, not a response. I don't know how the actual store looks, nor do I care, because they are useless and I don't suppose I'll ever go to this one. Either the whole store is crooked, or they hire thieves, which is even more worrisome. Imagine having to protect your pockets and watch your back while you shop. Save yourself the pain I endured, and know that shopping online does not secure you from dealing with the very incompetent people you wished to avoid by using online shopping. After IKEA, my girlfriend suggested to me that I do something for myself like visit Cabela's. Well, this one seems smaller in size even when compared to the Woodbury Cabela's just outside of St. Paul, MN. Oh well, it was nice to just see it but would rather spend my loonies on something more unique than Cabela's. read more

A great addition to Winnipeg. I have been shopping here for some time, already. I have been to the gun library several times, and the gun counter, and I am welcomed by employees that are very knowledgeable about their products, and are more than happy to answer my questions. Or, even discuss the shooting sports in general. Kudos to Cabelas for hiring staff that have the skill and the passion for their sport! read more

Saturday morning I placed an order online. A short time later I called asking that the order be shipped with Canada Post. Monday I recieved an email stating my order was being filled. Thumbs up. Tuesday I called and the order wasn't shipped but it was shipping through Canada Post. Wed no shipping email. Thurs no shipping email. Friday I received an email from UPS, they recieved a shipping request from Cabala's. Compared to Amazon they've clearly dropped the ball on online shopping. On their site they state orders usually ship within 24 hrs. The items I ordered were in stock. My buddy today is waiting on an order he placed. It is not a place to shop if you require an order to be shipped within a reasonable time frame. November I cancelled another order because it wasn't handled within their stated time frame and I wouldn't be home to sign for it. read more

So I decided to order a fishing rod from Cabela's, seeing as they offered one of the better prices. I was told that my order would be at my door within 5 business days. After placing the order, the following day I received an email stating that my order has been processed. The following Monday (5 days later) I receive the same email telling me my order has been processed. I decide to wait a few more days to see whether or not my email will come in giving me my tracking number. The following Monday, still no fishing rod or tracking number. I decide to email them. Then, I called them. The lady told me that she has no idea why my order hasn't shipped, seeing as its in stock. She was going to contact her manager and I will receive my tracking number by the morning. No tracking number arrives. The next day I call again and tell them my situation. This lady apologizes, and says "Well it looks like its being processed now. Call back tomorrow and you will get a tracking number." I decide to wait an extra day, and I call. A man tells me "I don't know why you were told it was being processed, but it looks like today it actually has." I explained to him I've heard this multiple times, I don't believe him. He said "trust me, your order will arrive next week." Guess what? Not only has my order not arrived, but they didn't even respond to my email. Not only that, but I have 2 friends who are literally going through the same exact thing with Cabela's. They even tried calling Head office, who then transferred them to the same customer service that we have been dealing with. They were told "All you can do is wait" That's great, seeing as Im going to be on the water in a week, and I won't have my rod that I ordered a month ago!!! This is DEFINITELY the last time I will ever deal with Cabela's again. read more
