I needed a copy of my receipt and Customer Service was extremely helpful. They went above and beyond. I truly appreciate it.

This store is a great addition to Missoula. Keep in mind this is a Cabela's Outpost, not a regular, larger sized Cabela's store. With that being said, for what it is, it is a great place for the hunter, camper, fisherman, and outdoorsmen to get all the necessities. They carry clothing and shoes for men, women children that are designed for the outdoor lifestyle. You can find all the basics and also clothes made for colder weather. Living in Montana, that is a must! In addition to clothing, they also carry tents, coolers, camping supplies, fishing supplies, guns, ammunition, knives, and much more. This store is always very well organized and very clean. One downside is that since it's on the smaller side, certain areas of the store, especially apparel, feel very tight and cramped with minimal space to walk. The cashiers are never overly friendly, in fact I have had some who barely said a word. I prefer to shop here over Bob Ward's because Bob Ward's overprices everything in their store, even sale items. Cabela's is much more reasonable and carries the same brands. They also seem to have frequent sales on some of the bigger brands which is a huge plus! read more

I frequently stop in to see what's available and am continuously disappointed. While selection is decent the prices are unreasonable. My biggest complaint has been the staff attitudes. Across departments there is a consistent smugness and condescending tone that really puts me off. I don't feel like these people know much of what they are talking about and aren't interested in helping me find what's right. Missoula has a lot of options for outdoor gear. Cabela's is going to be your worst option. Shop around. read more

It's the smallest Cabela's in the country but it seemed to have everything the other stores have I always stop to use my points from my Cabela's card which gives me one point for every dollar spent. I go to the discount aisle and always find something I get the 16 oz beef jersey for 11.99 I can't stop eating it. The taxidermy is excellent you get to see all the local animals nice touch. Poor customer service, Went inside seeking to purchase a firearm, waited around for about 20 minutes, asked an employee for assistance and was told to hold on. Where I patiently waited another 10 minutes without being spoken to. Another employee sat at the gun counter conversing with another customer about there sport shorting and swapping stories, shootin the sh*t. Will not return. read more

I used to work there all of the store managers were rude and hurtful. I was fired for no reason. I am now never going back into the store it's over priced. they never have the right size in mens and women's clothing. read more

I have never had Cabela's in Missoula actually take one of my calls and answer a question. The have consistently been the worst customer service in for sporting goods in Missoula. Two years of calling and I have never got a single questions answered. Sportsman's Warehouse, Scheels and Bob Ward's will all answer the phone and answer your questions before making you drive there. read more

I quit almost all shopping at Cabela's except some handloading components that I buy on-line. I have been a Cabela' cusomer for decades and have spent over $40,000 at Cabela's. The last episode at the MIssoula store provided more reason to avoid Cabela's. I wanted to sell a firearm, a 1911 Kimber .45 auto. I approached the Cabela's store, unloaded gun in plastic case and was challenged by some Cabel'a employee who demanded - "any ammo with that gun". A vague question, I expected to hear - "sir - we have a policy at Cabela's to inspect firearms that enter the store and verify that the firearms are not loaded" but instead I heard - "any bullets in that gun". The employees attitude was one of personal control and domination instead of promoting a good deal, like money for Cabela's that would be reallized for a sale of an diifficult to find item. I opened the case, pulled the 1911 out of a plastic bag, drew back and locked the slide, then presented the item to the clerk for inspection. The,clerk peered into the 1911, chamber & magazine well, then released the slide, leaving the hammer in a cocked position. I was carrying CCW, in accordance with Monana law, and did not want an inspection and possible surrender of the 2nd firearm so I departed. I then went to Scheels where I was treated with courtesy and made a real good deal on a trade on a spotting scope and received a payment for the difference, and a $50 gift card. Scheels had a greater selection of components, including difficult to find large rifle primers. A month before the latest episode, I ordered 2 boxes of bullets from Cabela's, inert items, commonly refered to as "bullet heads". The deal was - the bullets would be delivered to my residence, no charge as the price exceeded $50. Instead I received an email from Fed Express informing me that the shipment needed to be signed for and picked up at the Fed Ex site at the Missoula airport, a round trip of 30 miles or 45 minutes & over $5 of gas. I arrived at the FedEx site and signed for my shipment and discovered the bullets were packed in a box labeled as containing .308 Win rifle ammo. Cabela's in their zeal to cut costs, packed my bullets in a used container that at one time was used for ammo and that cost my almost 1 hour of driving, city traffic & $5 gas. Fed Ex requires a signature & ID for ammo shipments. read more

Have shopped this Missoual store many times, have had both good and bad experiences with staff indifference. Walking about in the used firearms area, even had a rifle aimed at me, by a customer exercising his hunting skills apparently. As above the post review indicates that "...I'm rolling now, and do I have anymore to add" probably enough has been said thru the various impressed and outraged customer reviews. Went today to check out their archery department stood there for over a half an hour waiting for someone to help out! Went to the clothing side to ask a sales rep to radio someone to come over there three times still no one showed up! Their archery department will no longer get my business!! read more

I am updating my review and adding a 5th star. This cabelas location has continued to impress me since it opened and now it's my go to location for outdoor gear. I purchased a set of knives here that were 50% cheaper than the markup by another local outdoors shop and cabelas did not even have them on sale. Prices here are tough to beat. read more

I like Cabela's as the people who work there are always attentive and polite. That is a big deal to consumers imo - to feel welcome, and as if you matter. Trust me - this is sadly lacking in some businesses today so it's nice to see they hire friendly people who don't run away from you if you need help finding something, or seem annoyed when you check out. Only one instance where the staff was so engaged in gossiping about a hunting trip that I was totally ignored while I waited in line for like 15 minutes at customer service (it didn't take two of them to listen to the guys story, and they kept it going and going). I just gave up and left on that one but since then its been positive. I also enjoy this store because it is roomy and I never feel boxed in or as if its so crowded I cant move comfortably. It's set up nicely. Having said that, I was going to go and get some winter coats and a Mr Heater on their special members night. I was planning to the day before but was encouraged to wait and come back as there was a giveaway and discounts the following night. I pulled up to check this out...and saw a really long line. That wasn't a big deal as they were waiting, but I'd been told the give aways required you to stay in the store until the event was over. I had already decided to not even try for those. A 60.00 item isn't worth being away from my family for that long - on the chance I may or may not win something. In any case, I sat there thinking of how crowded it was going to be as they opened, and thought of coming back in an hour or so. But then I realized - if people were there for give away items, and had to wait in the store for the duration of the event (2-3 hours) the crowd would only get worse. I guess it's just a suggestion that when you have an event that draws a crowd like black Friday - its probably good to cycle people though rather than enticing them all to stay. I would have likely spent an hour shopping but not 2 or 3. Another thing Id like to see is Cabbalas offer more warm coat selections for women. If down - it would be nice if it was all ethical down. I think more attention needs to be drawn to using feathers collected in humane, trauma free ways, so ideally would like to see cabbalas only offer down products where feathers come from ethical sources. Terrible customer service. Went to purchase a shirt that was on sale and it did not ring up with the sale price. When I pointed out the wrong price the sales lady said the bigger size cost more. I so appreciated being called out as fat and made to feel like crap in front of other customers. In addition the sales sign did not specify a different price for the xxl. The sales person didn't even say I am sorry or let me ask if we can give you the sale price. They did not care about my business at all. I will never shop there again. read more

Wouldn't return my unopened bear spray... what happened to customer retention and taking one for the team to ensure the customer will come back.
