The people they have working in the gun library are incompetent. I walked in and purchased a shotgun...well tried to. When I went to purchase it the moron didn't put my CPL information in and I got delayed. If the moron knew his job and did his job and put my CPL information in this would've never happened. Cabela's has a "wait for proceed" policy which is ridiculous. There was no proceed after 30 days and they called to tell me if I still want the firearm id have to come back in and do another NICS check. Listen here stupid...I have a CPL. I left the crap store that same day after being delayed and bought a shotgun 20 minutes later down the road. Cabela's is a crap store with crap employees. I've said my peace. read more

Gun counter is terrible. Regardless if there is a line or not, you're going to wait an hour or more for someone to wander out of the back. I waited 3 hours just to start a background check on an already paid for gun. Others there had waited similar times as well. The long haired employee called me at home and CURSED at me for having to leave & come back the next day. Cabelas corporate has hamstrung them with arbitrary and asinine forearm handling rules that they frankly don't want you to function test a weapon before you legally take possession of it. Everything you ask them is some big headache where they sigh and roll their eyes as if they do not want your money. I had bought a pistol there in 2015 and everything was normal. Great store, but avoid the firearms department. I was number 4 in line and waited 1-1/2 hours to be waited on. One customer ahead of me gave up and left. There were 5 guys behind the counter, and they wandered around like it was their first day. I gave them the sku # of the shot gun I wanted and the salesman brought it out. He then spent 10 minutes trying to figure out how to attach the barrel. He finally called over another guy and they figured it out together. Instead of a paper form, the background check is done on a laptop. This part took over half an hour. My last firearm purchase, at one of their competitors, took less than a half hour start to finish. They were friendly, Spencer showed me other pistols that I had an interest in. The process went very smoothly and all of the employees were extremely professional and courteous. The service at the gun counter is subpar in many ways. The workers do not follow proper protocols for background checks. I purchased a shotgun with my State DL, and a few weeks later, I went to buy another gun; they said my license was not acceptable--the poorest-run gun department in the country. Brian, the gun counter manager, was threatening and rude. Why wait 2 hours in line to see one of the uneducated gun counter employees? Fin Feather Fur was prompt, had a better price and selection, and the workers were not rude. I will never spend another dime at Bass Pro or Cabela's. read more

I do believe I have found the holy grail of clothing stores for guys like me. I visited recently to exchange a pair of shoes that I received as a gift. On this visit, I found a large aquarium, a waterfall, a few pairs of waterproof shoes, and a very chatty employee. It took a while, and they didn't have them on display, but I found a pair of Adidas waterproof shoes that I really liked. I also found some water resistant Carhart clothing and a really warm winter hat for my bald head. There were many articles of clothing that I wanted to buy, but this place is a bit pricey, so I had to restrain myself. I don't buy myself clothes often. In fact, I'm always in need of clothes, but I rarely buy them. I really have to like something in order to buy it. I guess I'm just picky. I seek quality and value. I didn't really find value, but I found quality at Cabela's. While I was looking around, an employee greeted me and showed me some winter coats. I wasn't in the market for a new coat, but the Columbia jackets were very nice. He told me about his smoker and his boots and his jackets and his girlfriend and his job and his employee discount and on and on. The hat he showed me impressed me and it had more protection than my current winter hat, so I picked one up. He also showed me this awesome water resistant Carhart gear, so I picked up a gray hoodie. Man is that thing warm! Anyway, since my daughter has volleyball practice on this side of town, I'll be back to spend some of my hard earned dollars. read more

Had a chance to visit this super store for all your outdoor activities. Decent selection of firearms and accessories. As with most places, ammo shortage. Camping gear was pretty extensive and great to look through. Significant boating section. Went for the fishing gear and was not disappointed. Endless rows of rods, reels, and tackle. You could spend at least an hour in this place. Spend some time looking at the water display, fish, and stuffed wildlife throughout the place and you can quickly get to two hours. Wished they had a small coffee shop. Bring the cash, cards, coupons, and gift cards....going to need it all! read more

I will NEVER spend another dime at this hole... I ordered some boots online, needed to return them so after their "free returns" isn't free at all, they want to charge $7.50 for a label. My GF drives an hour up here with the boots and receipt but they won't return them without the credit card. So, 3 days later I waste a trip to come with the actual card. Rude woman at the return counter that seemed like she hated life and had zero personality. Well after I give her the online order #, she pulls the order up and then continues to give me a refund that doesn't even match what was on the order, it was less. So then she had to call her manager "Rachel".... who shows up, doesn't say a single word to me, does the math between the refund and the order. Opens the drawer and takes the cash out and lays it on the counter. Doesn't hand it to me, doesn't say a single word and "she" walks away. I'll never step into this place or spend a dime with Cabelas ever again. Try working on your customer service skills a LITTLE at least. read more

I bought a crossbow here 2 Xmas's ago for a gift for myself. And had the team in their archery department assemble the bow. Two hours later I pick up the bow. Since then I I have had 2 knee surgeries and have not shot the bow. Last week I went hunting and after one shot the string popped off! I took it to the Cabela's in Triadelphia WV to have it fixed. And to my surprise the bow was not assembled correctly. It was missing parts, bolts where loose, and the head was not attached correctly. After about 20 minutes the gentleman at Triadelphia had it put together and all parts missing where replaced free of charge!!! If you want to buy something like a bow from Akron make sure you take it somewhere else to have it assembled!!! read more

Would NEVER recommend buying a boat from this place and definitely would not recommend getting your boat serviced here unless you enjoy excuses, lies, deceit, carelessness and inexperience. We bought a Tracker boat five years ago, Cabelas Service Center has had my boat in three times for a console that was cracked and under warranty. After waiting SEVERAL months for the console to come in, they have cracked it while trying to install it twice, the third time they were unable to put it in altogether telling me my boat is "off". The acting service manager at the time, as they do not seem to have a steady service manager, told my husband, that they have been in this field a long time and the are over "98.5%" sure that when they send my boat back to White River, the manufacturer, since Cabelas Service had yet to successfully install the consoles, that we would most likely get a new hull because the acting service manager feels that there is structural damage to my boat and walked me around my boat showing me the possible damage, pointing out his vast knowledge of what appeared to be to him structural damage. My boat goes to White River and once the staff has a chance to look at it they install the console and ship it back within 1 1/2 weeks and indicate that there is not structural damage. Boat is back in Ohio at Cabelas, now we are told that the base plate for the seat did not come back from the manufacturer when they shipped my boat back and oh, yeah we can't find the boat keys you gave us back in the beginning of December when you dropped your boat off, why yes it is now the end of March and have not had my boat since the beginning of December and they cannot find the boat seats either that they removed from the boat prior to shipment to the manufacturer. We are now told today, still waiting on that base plate, that if the base plate is not here by Tuesday they will remove one from the showroom floors boats and install it. I do NOT understand why this cannot be done today, as we were there today and it is not a 'right down the road trip' for us and you have had my boat for the 3rd time for the same thing and have had it for a total of over one year for this console issue. Meanwhile we continue to pay for a boat that we have physically had for 4 of the 5 years we have owned it. Customer service is NOT top priority at least when it comes to their boats and service of the boats that you purchase brand new from them. Hoping to have the boat back as promised on Tuesday, without the lies and excuses, but lessons learned is not to ever count on anything that comes out of the boat sales or service departments mouth. The store and staff of the store itself has always been great, have bought fishing stuff, hunting stuff, guns and other merchandise and never had a problem. Be leery of buying boats from here unless you go elsewhere for any warranty issues, preferably a boat repair shop that knows what they are doing, won't BS you or tell you that your boat has structural damage unless they know for sure, won't give your equipment (batteries) that was removed from your boat to someone that comes in off the streets regardless of their relationship to you, without double checking with the boat owner first if that is acceptable or not and won't lose the keys to your boat. read more

This is obviously a little late, but thank the lord! A Cabela's in northeast Ohio! Let me start off by saying if you've visited any other Cabela's location, it's likely that your opinion, and perceived selection of which will remain pretty much consistent with the Avon location as well. Avon is not your Tridelphia West Virginia Cabela's; it's just your everyday one. That aside, as always, Cabela's offers a wide selection of outdoor camping equipment, as well as everything you need to hunt, fish, hike, and much more! Not to mention, if your someone like me know likes to shoot, the ammo selection and prices are mostly unmatched. I was able to find .45 Colt and .454 Casull for around $15 cheaper per 50 round box than other comparable outdoor stores in northeast Ohio. All in all, and as all the others, Cabela's in Avon will satisfy all of your outdoor needs no matter the trade. A fantastic store for all our outdoor needs/wants that almost never disappoints. Well for starters, it's Cabela's.. you know what you're gonna get at this store from the inviting fire when you walk in the door, to the aquarium at the back. Came here for a few crucial purchases before a day at the range. Due to the size of the store, I had some difficulty locating what I needed. A sales associate saw my search and quickly ran up to assist and guided me in the right direction. He was thoughtful and showed me all the options, before I made my selection. I went in to buy binoculars and waited 20+ minutes before I just walked out. It took 10 minutes standing at the optics counter before I was even acknowledged by the guy there. He was taking care of guys looking at pocket knives. Why knives need to be shown to people I'll never understand. Those should be in packaging hanging on the shelf like they are at bass pro shops.
