5 stars for the clam chowder, which is mouth-wateringly amazing. My spouse and I shared a bowl and wished we each got our own. I live 18 hours away and want to go back for the soup I had over 2 years ago; I am still thinking about it. It's that good. I deducted a star, because we weren't super impressed with our entrees, but they probably just weren't our cup of tea. Photos with the menu might have helped our selections. It is very close to the shore, so you can have a view while you eat. read more

The clam chowder is amazing and the fish is so fresh you can smell the ocean from your table. Oh wait, it's on the waterfront! Awesome food and even better atmosphere. read more

This is pretty much THE place for a drink on the South Shore, as far as I know. Fair warning for those of us who went to high school either at Silver Lake, Duxbury, Marshfield or Plymouth: you're going to know three quarters of the people in attendance here on any given night. This is of course incredibly entertaining for those of us who have left our the South Shore for the left coast etc. Cabby's is actually pretty large... 3 bars, one inside, one outside downstairs, and one outside upstairs. The deck upstairs is good for lounging around whilst heavily intoxicated, although you've got a good shot of sitting in some rainwater if it's rained in the past day or two. read more

We started off with calamari - bland. Who fries the peppers? They do! The peppers lost all of their flavor. Everything was bland, down to the gravy... or marinara. Lobster Roll, what they're known for! It was delicious with the exception of the shell bits that were grinding in my teeth... I saved those for later. My friend ordered the Tuna, it was cooked well done and was pretty much like a hockey puck. I wonder if they thought it was a cow steak... not a tuna steak. One will never know! The seascape makes up for the taste buds not being tingled. Great location. Great beverages. Great environment. And not to mention: live entertainment nightly! read more

Cabby Shack can be hit or miss but mostly a hit. I've had mediocre meals and I've had absolutely fantastic meals, but never anything I'd consider bad. Of course their clam chowder is a MUST. I get a cup even if my entree isn't seafood. Sitting out on one of their decks (there's two, one a top the other) on a beautiful day overlooking the harbor can make you feel like you are dining tropical style. Very nice. Over all, the service is very good. There's been some bumps but I go often and it cant always be a perfect. If I have one negative thing to say , it's that their menu could use a change a couple times a year. Been looking at the same one for a couple years(they have a couple different specials daily but if they don't appeal to you then it's back to the same ol' choices). This isn't an issue for out of town visitors. I DO recommend eating here just leave me a seat :-) Update: 8/4/14: I just finished dinner there. Amazingly enough there's a new menu! You're welcome everyone. Clearly they heard me and responded lol. Cant wait to try all the new stuff. Although I see it's a few dollars higher now but, whatever, you expect to pay if you go out. Update: 10/21/14 : my last three times here I was not impressed with my food. Something has changed. I have removed one star as a result and will limit my dining to their clam chowder and beer and will frequent less now. read more

Great service and atmosphere. Portions are huge and food is delicious! I had the seabass and shrimp and it was amazing!!!

My cousin that I haven't seen in about 13 years came up from Florida to visit with her boyfriend so my brother, 2 sisters , and I met them in Plymouth and decided to go to Cabbyshack. We waited about 15 minutes for a table (not bad for a Fri night) the hostess and waitress were very friendly and efficient. I ordered an appetizer they called lobster traps and they were delicious for dinner I had the whole clams yes I eat the bellies they were really good as well. I ordered my brother and I a drink called Pirates of the Caribbean they were really good from the bartenders indoors however when we paid the bill we went to the outside bar ordered another Pirates of the Caribbean and it tasted like pineapple juice I asked the bartender about it and he blew it off which is why this place only gets 3 stars I will come here again but I will get my drinks from the inside bar. read more

I FOUND A USED BAND-AID IN MY SANDWICH. Further more the manager made it seem like he was a hero for taking the offending sandwich off my bill?!? Sir you served me human waste...... I think everyone should get a free meal and you pray I don't call the health inspector ( which I absolutely am going to). I have worked in food service my whole life and this is the stuff people have nightmares about....... Cabbyshack, the place where nightmares come true. read more

This was honestly the WORST experience I've had at any restaurant in a long time (I've never even reviewed a restaurant before but this was THAT bad). It started out with us getting seated a full hour after they told us. We had somewhere we needed to be by 7:45 so right when we sat down we ordered (this was at 6:31). And that was it! The waitress brought the drinks and we waited and waited and waited. The waitress disappeared and food NEVER came (I would also like to state we ordered burgers and chowder...not difficult!!!). Finally our waitress came back by the table at 7:15 so we asked about the food.."ohh yeah the kitchen is backed up it should be about 45 minutes"...ummmm WHAT!!! So we ask for the manager- yeah that was helpful...."ummm what do you want me to do"...for starters run a restaurant. Needless to say we left (after the so-called "Manager" gave us a bill for our drinks) without eating so I can't really comment on the food. I will tell you that they just don't care because they think they can suck in tourists and grab thier money. Honestly stay far far away- there are far better restaurants in Plymouth with people that actually know customer service and care about customers!! read more

I've been here several times and each time has been just OK. They have awesome onion rings. Steak tip caesar salad was super. Bar staff seems hurried and they don't seem happy. Each time I've been there, I never see them smile. They are efficient and get the job done. Margaritas are very good. On this day of dining, I had a less than stellar experience. We were greeted and waited on by the sweetest waitress ever though. She was pure sunshine. However, I ordered "Brussels and Belly" and all I got was over cooked dark brussels and pieces of bacon. Very disappointing. I can't understand how any properly trained chef would send out a dish like this and call it pork belly. Pork belly is uncured, unsmoked, and unsliced bacon! Ya don't order a ribeye and then serve the customer cube steak. When I see pork belly on any menu, I expect a thick piece of seared and glazed pork belly....not small chips of smoked bacon. Who's running the ship? See my attached picture. If not for the picture, you'd never believe it. I never complained at all. I chalked it up to the kitchen not understanding, etc, and I just pushed it aside. The wonderful sweetheart of a waitress was so worried that I was disappointed and didn't eat my meal, that she notified the manager. Well.....I was aggressively met by the manager and she was not convincing with her remorse about the dish. In fact, she challenged me and said it was in fact pork belly. I had to inform her that no it wasn't and thats the end of it. I reminded her that I didn't ask her to come to my table and I didn't complain about my meal. At this point though, I was annoyed that she was so aggressive and supportive of the kitchen. I laughed internally and just allowed the scene to play out. She asked if she could get me something else. I said no thank you. She did NOT apologize for my experience, however she removed the meal from the bill. Again, I never complained and I never asked for the meal to be removed. I found this whole experience laughable. read more

I came to this restaurant on a Saturday night, it was packed, however, the restaurant handled this situation well as they had three different locations where you can leave your name for a table. My group ordered the calamari, buffalo wings, and clam chowder for appetizer and it was delicious, we were in heaven. When it came to the main course we ordered lobster rolls and the baked stuffed lobster. The lobster rolls were just ok, and we had an option of a four ounce lobster roll or a 9 ounce lobster roll, we got one of each and there really was no difference between the two, just difference in one being a higher price. The baked stuffed lobster tasted like it came straight out of the sea, it did not taste good at all, but the waitress was an angel and took the lobster back and did not charge for it. I would recommend eating outside, the inside seemed a little sad and out of date. This restaurant is nice for some drinks, apps and a view of the water, but stop yourself there and don't have a full dinner there. read more

We have been to Cabby Shack many times and overall we have enjoyed our visit. Food is very good, friendly service and beautiful view.... feels like a mini vacation just sitting with a drink and listening to music, sometimes live. What I always appreciated was that the music was never too loud. But today was SUNDAY FUNDAY!!!!!! I'm sorry I don't watch football, I was there to enjoy the view on a beautiful fall afternoon. After we waited 20 minutes for a table we got a table on the lower deck. We ordered and soon after the music stopped and there was BLASTING commercial advertisements from the TV station followed by the game and it's bellowing announcer over ALL of the speakers, inside and out... including right over our head. We asked if we could move to the upstairs deck as it seemed quieter, but it was full. They said they would turn it down, it didn't help. It was the worst experience I have ever had EVER! Worse was that as I left I spoke with the manager and really all he had to say was , well it is SUNDAY FUNDAY! There were no signs up, no mention of it, he acted like we should just know Again, sorry I'm not a football fan, but also let your customers know that they won't be able to hear their own conversations or be able to enjoy your meal. Thought maybe he would have cared a bit more to redeem the visit, so I am writing my first ever YELP review. But if that's what you like, then SUNDAY FUNDAY, is for you! read more

Here for lunch on Friday May 8. I'm a big chowder fan, make it myself etc. The clam chowder here is awesome. Thick, creamy, buttery, everything you look for. I also had the salmon burger and fries which were very good. I'll be back if I'm ever in the area again. read more

Had the feel of a pre or post Jimmy Buffett concert hangout, with staff wearing bright tie dye themed shirts while the locals are busy catching the game. Good cocktail assortment, including a Blue Curacao you can get served in a small souvenir fishtank. Best service is before 6pm; after that there is a wait for the outdoor tables and the indoor ones can have you swatting away nuisance flies. read more

This place is so good for a casual drink or dinner, given that they offer pretty good appitizer and beer. One thing I gotta mention I'd that they have the best ever clam chowder I have had in my life, so creamy and delicious, though I don't normally eat creamy stuff and am not a cheese person. Last but not least, the lobster here was big and they even offered the correct way to enjoy it:) this is a lively place and hopefully I will be back for another visit during another field trip. read more

This review is for the Chowder ONLY The Chowder is crazy heavy~(In a good way). Super thick... obviously fresh. Large chunks of clams... It comes in a mug and has a pool of butter floating on top when you get it. SO delicious =) Love it, but if you love this... You have to try the Portugueses Fish Chowder at Anthony's Seafood in Newport, RI on the way up here and tell me how this stands up. =) read more

Loved the food! Had their "Chowdah" it was amazing, had it in the breadbowl b/c i was having it as my meal and I prob. wouldn't do that again just because I wanted to taste more things on the menu! lol In additiont to the chowdah i also had the coco shrimp, loved the coco shrimp, didn't love the dipping sauce though. My boyfriend had the lobster roll, it was really good. I def. recommend going. Oh, why the minus one ... bc I'm in massachusets and they didn't have Sam Adams Summer ale!!! Came here with a party of 9 on a busy Sunday evening in July. We were greeted by a very friendly young lady who informed us we would have a 30 minute wait. We ordered some drinks from the bar and were seated within 10 minutes...nice surprise. We manager to get a seat upstairs on the deck, but it was really too far back to see anything....that's ok... The clam coder was decadent and delicious. Creamy and salty and starchy and full of the jewels of the sea. I was happy.....I ordered the surf and turf wrap which had nice slices of steak, scallops, and veggies in a wrap. A little pricey, but very good. The kids got burgers and personal pizzas and everyone was happy. We quad a wonderful waiter, I think his name was Darren or Darryl...sorry dude.....drinks were refilled quickly, waters were served with a smile. I'll be back..... read more

CabbyShack - Cabby Shack Clam Chowder - Seafood Near Me - Plymouth, Massachusetts

Went here on a BUSY Saturday night. Right on the water in Plymouth. Beautiful outdoor bar and deck. This is New England summertime seafood at its best. Nothing terribly special and lots of fried options, but they're all fairly light, not greasy and tasty! Wellfleet oysters were great, super fresh. Calamari was tender and not overly fried-tasting. Blackened scallops were great, just a tad salty. Fish and chips were awesome. Wine list is awful, undrinkable actually. They have some nice beers on tap and in bottles, and a couple of cool cocktails. Service was fine, a bit slow, but the place was PACKED. There is live entertainment often, especially on weekends. There are tons of flat screen TV's playing all kinds of sporting events. I'm a fan. read more

A decent wait but ice cold as close to frozen beer as you can get. I ordered the New England Clam Chowder, or Chowdah as they say up here, and it was fantastic. I would highly recommend you try it. CabbyShack - New England Clam Chowder. Very good. - Seafood Near Me - Plymouth, Massachusetts

Cabbyshack is certainly an interesting place to be. Part townie hangout bar, part 'upscale' seafood joint, part family restaurant. Cool indoor/outdoor vibe right on the wharf. We've been there and been the only people inside, and we've been there and had to wait to get a table, too. We've also seen people thrown outta there. BEST CLAM CHOWDER IN MASS. Hands down. I try it everywhere and nothing compares. I asked a former cook for the recipe and he almost fought me. Fish and chips were bomb. Seafood "reuben" was good. Fish tacos were not terrible. Coconut shrimp were OK. Even if we go back just for the chowda, I'd be a happy customer. read more

The service was the biggest downfall of Cabby Shack. It took nearly twenty minutes to get our drinks, twenty more to get the food, and when it was time to ask for the check our server was no where to be found. The most annoying part of this was watching as many servers (minus ours) were just hanging out chatting by the door as we stared to try and grab someones attention. The food didn't do much for me either; the clam chowder was very thick and became cold very quickly, and the bruschetta appetizer was cold, burnt, and more of a bread dip than toasted and topped with goodies. However, the mussels were very good and more than enough to share between two or three people and there was a good beer selection. Final comment I feel must be recognized is the decor and ambiance. With bright lights, peeling paint, limited parking, and outdated music, the wait felt even longer than if I had enjoyed the settings. My advice, head to the bar and plan on drinking more than eating, best night would be a weekend as there was live music on the Thursday we went which sounded pretty good but a 21+ deck which didn't work for us as one person in my party was 20. read more

Came here last Monday and the pricing and service was definitely not great. The server we had was definitely inexperienced and seemed extremely frazzled when the restaurant was pretty empty. I was there with 4 adults and 4 kids (two babies who didn't eat). We got 2 apps, 3 salads with meat, plate of clams, cup of chowder and a kids chicken finger and our bill came to $240. We were charged almost $5 dollar for my 1 year olds apple juice which was spilt anyways because it came in a regular cup. The menu said kids drinks came with meal but we were charged for everyone as a large drink. My daughter got chicken fingers which came with no dipping sauce (no ketchup on table) and was charged 99c for ordering her a side of bbq. One salad came without its chicken which we waited about 10 minutes for and came out not fried as it was ordered. I use to come here a lot but would not rush back. The food was nothing special for the prices we were charged and definitely not a family restaurant with the pricing for kids meals. read more

Great seafood with a view in Plymouth! I've been here a few times but this is my first time reviewing it. A friend and I went for lunch on a Monday afternoon and due to it being summer it was fairly busy. However the staff was on their game and we were sat within 5 minutes of arriving. Our waitress came right over to us & brought our drinks very quickly. I ordered fish tacos with a cup of lobster bisque to start & my friend ordered a chicken sandwich with fries. This place is known for their award winning clam chowder, which I have tried before and it was delicious! I decided to change it up with some lobster bisque. It came out very quickly and was just as good as the chowder! My taste buds threw a party! The creamy bisque had a perfect balance of everything! I recommend a cup of either soup because they are very heavy, unless it is just your meal. Overall, this place is great! It has a refreshing atmosphere, great food & staff. Weekends in the summer you may have to wait, because it is a very popular place. A little touristy but overall a relaxing vibe. read more

I've been here numerous times for pizza and beer. I don't have to tell you how good the chowder is because virtually every other review tells you that. But the pizza is amazing, it's pub style and sometimes he tries new flavors. One interesting special that was good was the hot dog pizza. The summer crowds are mixed from young people and older people. Virtually every high school reunion ends up back at Cabby Shack. One thing that is not mentioned on the menu is that Cabbie does so much for the kids sports and other charities in town. The only thing that I could say would improve is if they had a separate takeout window for the pizza. read more
