My husband and I wandered in Catawba River Outfitters on a Friday afternoon because their window displays looked so nice. Upon entering I was immediately wowed by the aesthetics of the store. The historic charm of the former occupant, Stowe Mercantile Co., was in tact and the store's merchandise was nicely organized. I really enjoyed seeing some original fixtures too and couldn't help but gaze up the grand staircase. But, I suspect most people don't come to Catawba River Outfitters for architecture so lets talk about products. Catawba River Outfitters features clothing and gear for the whole family for an active lifestyle and outdoor adventures. I'm not a super outdoorsy person but I appreciate quality clothing and gear and I really enjoyed looking at mens' swim trunks, ladies' loungewear, kids' flip flops, collapsible chairs, Yeti cups, festive backpacks, sturdy coolers and such. Something else I really liked about this store was the staff. Everyone was very friendly! We were greeted upon entry which seems so rare these days and later asked by another employee if we needed any help. This Bass Pro Shops store has camping gear, fishing gear, actual boats and motors, clothing and footwear for men, women and children. The variety of goods on offer within each of the categories on display is also quite large, allowing the shopper a wide selection to choose from. As I browsed through this store, I came across several incredibly helpful store associates who seemed genuinely happy to be there and offered any help I might have needed. I am hearing impaired and when I told each of the associates I came in contact with, they were very considerate and even more helpful. They are truly a credit to this company. Unfortunately for me, where I live in NJ, we don't have any Bass Pro Shops stores or their sister store Cabela's near to where I live. However, I'm moving to the Rapid City, SD area in 2027 and they have a large Bass Pro Shops store that I plan to patronize.
