You seriously can not go wrong with any of the ice cream here. Normally, when you walk into an ice cream shop, you're greeted with the normal array of flavors (chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, cookies and creme, a few sherbets, etc.) all of which you could buy a tub of at your local grocery store for the same price and quality. Not at Cabanas. They have a great selection of flavors that are well picked and deliciously put together. The portions are also huge. My favorite part of all the ice creams is how well incorporated all the ingredients are. The chocolate chips, brownie pieces, fruit, etc. all hold their own, yet are soft enough to integrate with the rest of the ice cream. I got a scoop of the Eskimo Kisses: a great combination of coconut and chocolate in an airy yet creamy ice cream base. The White Chocolate Raspberry? Rich and creamy and best of all, you can taste that the fresh raspberries. None of the jam stuff you usually get. The key lime pie, oh man, tasted like the real thing. Super tangy with bits of graham cracker mixed in. It's probably a good thing that I live so far away or else I'd be here eating their ice cream every day... read more

Cabanas - Eskimo kisses! Delicious! - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Saint Joseph, Michigan

Was there for breakfast. We were group of 6. We ordered 2 wraps and 2 sandwiches. Took us 6 six times going in and out repeating our orders, 6 times! And 40 min later to get our order. The staff is incompetent, could care less about doing the a proper job. Only by the 4 time did they think to write down our order and yet came out 2 more times because they took the wrong notes. Up to this point we had been the only people in the cafe. We still ended up paying for items we never received. After waiting long enough we left without our food. As we were leaving I advised one of the waitresses to take notes from the beginning as it's a simple task all restaurants do to eliminate chaos, to which she replied " were not A restaurant we're a cafe". Seriously? The staffs ignorance is Quite unfortunate because the locale is beautiful. Needless to say, I rate this place 0 stars. read more

Long line on a Friday night, interesting variety of flavors. Went with the carrot cake, there were little chunks inside that tasted similar to carrot cake. Nothing extraordinary about this ice cream but less expensive than other options in the area. read more

This is such a great find right by the beach in St. Joseph! They boast Michigan made ice cream, and it is really good! I had Michigan Pothole, because that about sums up driving here in the mitt. My husband had the rainbow sherbet and it was good! Cute shop! serves coke fountain drinks, brewed coffee, and bottled drinks. I got a small cup of water and was thrown off when it was carbonated but I wasn't mad at it. They also keep their nutty ice creams separate from the rest. read more

Atmosphere is super cute and the ice cream was delicious. Lots of teens were working and doing a great job.

Tons of flavors!! This place is right on the main path but super cozy and hometown. The view from the building is fabulous of the water and the whole park. Great service! The guy was super friendly and patient with me and my friends. read more

See all

the service was underwhelming and honestly unbelievable... there were 5 people working an it took far too long for two smoothies to be made and someone else to be helped. Not only this but when I asked a question the answer was bare minimum. And the attitude of the workers was quite dismissive. read more

Worth the wait! The lines were long, the air was warm, but the ice cream was delicious. Best deal in town for sure. Can't wait to come back. read more

Very good ice cream but what kind of an ice cream place doesn't let you try a sample first cut a pregnant girl a break lol

Great service on a busy hot summer day! Also, I got 4 single ice cream cones (generous portion) and a large iced latte for $13. Clean bathroom was the cherry on top! read more

We really enjoyed our trip to Cabanas, cool old school candy store and so many amazing choices of ice cream! If I could change anything, I'd love a list somewhere of what is in the different flavors! Some of them looked great and had cool names but I had no idea what flavors they were, and the staff seemed a little busy for me to try to bother asking about 10 different flavors of ice cream! I ended up with salted caramel pretzel, it was delicious. The kids got Superman, I didn't try theirs but the colors were vibrant and they enjoyed it very much! It's a little confusing when it's time to pay because you have to go back to the entrance and tell the cashier all the different sizes and types of ice cream you got. It would be nice if they put it on a little ticket or something. All in all a great experience though. Next time we're in town we will definitely come back to try more ice cream flavors! read more

Anybody that gives this place less than a 5 is insane! We love coming to this spot when we visit. The only ice cream place I will take my family to when in town. Ice cream tastes great, staff is friendly, store is clean, prices are great! read more

Definitely not a good place to go if you are concerned about social distancing as it was extremely crowded at 8:30 pm. Raspberry cheesecake ice cream in a waffle cone was amazing and watching the sunset at Silver Beach after was incredible. read more

Awesome ice cream and sorbet. Reasonably priced, and the staff was friendly and hustling, taking care of a long line in no time at all.

Amazing atmosphere and customer service. Delicious ice cream and Gelato with great prices. They have food, coffee, and a candy shop. Super cute! read more

I want it all!!!!! Ice cream, gelato and soft serve. This place has the most soft serve flavors I have ever seen at an ice cream place. I go back here every time I am in St. Joe. Scoop of Double chocolate (chocolate covered cashews) with a scoop of salted Carmel pretzel was my last pair of choice and boy was I in heaven. read more

Great ice cream place in a cute area of town. I loved the variety and that my kids could get "mini" scoops at an actual mini price. We were waited on promptly and were given solid recommendations by the person serving our scoops - lemon cheese cake and key lime pie. Not my usual but oh so good! We may even be back later this week on our short little vacation! read more

Good local ice cream. I was rather impressed with the flavor selection. They let you try before you buy. I forget the exact names of the flavors I got on my cone (apple crisp and Kahlua tiramisu I think), but they were refreshingly-atypical and delicious. We also had little cups of the pistachio and "blue" cardamom (may have been nutmeg). We were all very happy with our choices. We'll definitely be back next time we visit Silver Beach. read more

We stopped here right before we headed back to my in-laws. The kids enjoyed their ice cream to the fullest and the service was very good.

We went to Cabanas just as they closed and the owner waved us in, they were super nice and friendly and kind enough to accommodate us after they were closed for the night. They have a wide variety of flavors, some unique, though chocolate cookie dough was my favorite. Great to support a locally owned establishment. read more

Our family absolutely loves cabanas. We have been loyal customers for the past several years. The ice cream is always tasty and we love all the new flavors the owner brings in each summer. The scoops are always huge which is a big bonus when comparing to competing ice cream stores downtown. The store only sells Michigan ice creams and is a must when visiting St. Joe! read more

We used to like this place but today we received a cup of key lime pie that tasted rancid. We asked for a new flavor but they refused saying we would have to pay for another scoop. Terrible service. Our family will never go back. read more

Great ice cream. Great variety of flavors. Great service and better price than Kilwin's. Try their Cinnabon flavor...oh my!

I used to come here on lunch for the amazing raspberry and white chocolate ice cream in a chocolate dipped w/ sprinkles waffel cone, that put DQ to shame. The last few times I have been here they have not had any special waffel cones made up :(. But if you want some different ice cream flavors I would give this place a shot. They also carrie some food and some other summer items. read more

We walked in very late in the tourist season, so that may have affected their quality. I had 2 friends with me. All of us tasted the ice cream and it was not a pleasant experience. The texture and flavor was off. It was icy. Maybe it's better if you go early in the season? read more

Absolutely, positively, the best carrot cake ice cream I have ever tasted. The servers were on point, fast, and they were busy. You guys got something, congratulations. read more

Good ice cream, friendly service, and cute storefront. Great Location--get your ice cream and have a sit on a park bench overlooking Silver Beach. $4 a scoop and get a 2nd scoop for a dollar more--if you think you can handle that much (I tried, but couldn't). read more

Stopped in for some ice cream, and everyone's was super good. Turtle Sunday was awesome! Women accidentally over charged us and went walking down the street to find us 10 minutes after we were in there. Don't see that honesty everywhere! Would def recommend for the product and the service. read more

I would have to say that they have the best cake batter ice cream in the area. It seams to have more chocolate than others. The price and taste of their ice cream is way better than Kilwin's or The Chocolate Cafe. They also have food on their menu, I have never tried any of their food, but it always smell pretty good. I would recommend Cabanas to anyone who is looking for unique flavors at a decent price. read more

Best ice cream ever!! Open late too which is great. Boyfriend and I both had sundaes and they were so yummy!

I am an ice cream snob and I would definitely recommend popping in. I had the Salty Jack and Peanut Butter cup
