Yes! Another 5 star experience we will once again enjoy! The line was long, and because of their amazing service, my family was able to get our ice cream in just under 3 minutes. Walk up those majestic stairs from Silver Beach towards downtown St Joe and chances are you'll see a like straight ahead. It's most likely for Cabanas. A great ice cream/cafe/candy shop located in the heart of downtown. On a Friday night towards the end of summer, there was a queue stretching towards the door. The two employees scooping ice cream were working hard and everyone in line was ready to order so the line moved pretty quickly. Impressive given their massive selection of flavors! We shared a double scoop (~$6 out the door) with pistachio almond and carrot cake--you read that right. Both were super delicious. Great balance of creaminess and sweet with plentiful almonds/pieces of cake. A great treat.

Stopped here twice in one day - first stop was for a coffee pick me up and the second was for ice cream. The short version - coffee was no good - while ice cream was good. It is a good location - right in the middle of town. Very cute decor inside with lots of airy space. The staff is not great - we visiting during the summer, so I am not sure if they were college or high school students? But no one was that friendly or helpful and it looked like it was mandatory they worked there based on their attitude. There were a ton of options from coffee, ice cream, smoothies, Hawaiian ice, snacks (brownies, muffins, cookies, popcorn). There was a menu for coffee flavor add-ins, but the worker had no idea if all the flavors were in stock or not. So it was a guessing game for me if they had the flavors available? The coffee was terrible. I love coffee and can drink pretty much anything but this ice coffee was gross. I asked for Hazelnut flavor and was told they only have sugar free, so I went with vanilla flavoring. I could not even finish the coffee because it had such a strange taste especially after-taste. We came back later in the day, an hour or so before closing. Pretty busy with everyone wanting a sweet treat. Again, the workers were blasé and uninterested in much of anything. There were a ton of ice cream and even some non-dairy options. I went with a kids' cone since it allowed you two flavors - 2-for-1! The ice cream was very good and rich. Overall, mixed review!

Holy cow their ice cream is amazing. We visited two nights in a row with the family. We loved the espresso hand dipped ice cream. Try it in a shake you'll be amazed. It tastes just like a Frappuccino. The shop has so many ice cream flavors to choose from plus several different soft serve flavors. They even have a gluten-free and dairy free section. While checking out, check out their candy section. After you buy your ice cream head over to the hill just above Silver Beach and watch the sunset.

Cabanas is one of many ice cream shops available downtown. While it's not the only place it's definitely the least crowded which I can appreciate as a socially anxious human. I enjoy grabbing actual food here as well. I used to enjoy their pizza and grilled cheese, though I tend to just go for ice cream now a days. I'm a big fan of the s'more ice cream and all their gelato favors. My husband, best friend and nephew have all come here with me and we always enjoy ourselves. I really enjoy the decor and general ambiance of this place. The employees are always chill and quick to help customers. This is the perfect spot for some delicious treats.

If I could sum up my experience at Cabanas in one word, it would be YUM! After spending the day on the beach, and walking around all the little shops, something cold and tasty was just what I was looking for! Cabanas offered ice cream, gelato and other chilled treats! The first thing I noticed was just how many options there were to choose from. I went with the mint chocolate chip ice cream in a waffle cone and it was an excellent choice! My hubby had the chocolate chip cookie dough and loved it! Cabanas doesn't have an abundance of seating, but it also didn't feel crammed. It had a very whimsical, ice cream parlor feel to it and also offered outdoor seating at picnic tables. Most of the staff was younger, but all very polite and helpful. I'll definitely choose Cabanas again!

I stopped in here with my fam to get us all some ice cream and was a little disappointed when the worker didn't listen to me about what I'd like. I was given an overturned ice cream cone in a cup shoved on top of whipped cream. Ummmmmm not sure what the person was thinking, but it's not like I was going to complain about it, but still, when someone says they'd like whipped cream and a cherry on top, don't flip it over in a cup (see photo). Prices were a bit outrageous and the ice cream was just ok.

the service was underwhelming and honestly unbelievable... there were 5 people working an it took far too long for two smoothies to be made and someone else to be helped. Not only this but when I asked a question the answer was bare minimum. And the attitude of the workers was quite dismissive. read more

We really enjoyed our trip to Cabanas, cool old school candy store and so many amazing choices of ice cream! If I could change anything, I'd love a list somewhere of what is in the different flavors! Some of them looked great and had cool names but I had no idea what flavors they were, and the staff seemed a little busy for me to try to bother asking about 10 different flavors of ice cream! I ended up with salted caramel pretzel, it was delicious. The kids got Superman, I didn't try theirs but the colors were vibrant and they enjoyed it very much! It's a little confusing when it's time to pay because you have to go back to the entrance and tell the cashier all the different sizes and types of ice cream you got. It would be nice if they put it on a little ticket or something. All in all a great experience though. Next time we're in town we will definitely come back to try more ice cream flavors! read more

Definitely not a good place to go if you are concerned about social distancing as it was extremely crowded at 8:30 pm. Raspberry cheesecake ice cream in a waffle cone was amazing and watching the sunset at Silver Beach after was incredible. read more

Great ice cream place in a cute area of town. I loved the variety and that my kids could get "mini" scoops at an actual mini price. We were waited on promptly and were given solid recommendations by the person serving our scoops - lemon cheese cake and key lime pie. Not my usual but oh so good! We may even be back later this week on our short little vacation! read more

I want it all!!!!! Ice cream, gelato and soft serve. This place has the most soft serve flavors I have ever seen at an ice cream place. I go back here every time I am in St. Joe. Scoop of Double chocolate (chocolate covered cashews) with a scoop of salted Carmel pretzel was my last pair of choice and boy was I in heaven. read more

Good local ice cream. I was rather impressed with the flavor selection. They let you try before you buy. I forget the exact names of the flavors I got on my cone (apple crisp and Kahlua tiramisu I think), but they were refreshingly-atypical and delicious. We also had little cups of the pistachio and "blue" cardamom (may have been nutmeg). We were all very happy with our choices. We'll definitely be back next time we visit Silver Beach. read more

Our family absolutely loves cabanas. We have been loyal customers for the past several years. The ice cream is always tasty and we love all the new flavors the owner brings in each summer. The scoops are always huge which is a big bonus when comparing to competing ice cream stores downtown. The store only sells Michigan ice creams and is a must when visiting St. Joe! read more

We went to Cabanas just as they closed and the owner waved us in, they were super nice and friendly and kind enough to accommodate us after they were closed for the night. They have a wide variety of flavors, some unique, though chocolate cookie dough was my favorite. Great to support a locally owned establishment. read more

We walked in very late in the tourist season, so that may have affected their quality. I had 2 friends with me. All of us tasted the ice cream and it was not a pleasant experience. The texture and flavor was off. It was icy. Maybe it's better if you go early in the season? read more

I used to come here on lunch for the amazing raspberry and white chocolate ice cream in a chocolate dipped w/ sprinkles waffel cone, that put DQ to shame. The last few times I have been here they have not had any special waffel cones made up :(. But if you want some different ice cream flavors I would give this place a shot. They also carrie some food and some other summer items. read more

Stopped in for some ice cream, and everyone's was super good. Turtle Sunday was awesome! Women accidentally over charged us and went walking down the street to find us 10 minutes after we were in there. Don't see that honesty everywhere! I would have to say that they have the best cake batter ice cream in the area. It seams to have more chocolate than others. The price and taste of their ice cream is way better than Kilwin's or The Chocolate Cafe. They also have food on their menu, I have never tried any of their food, but it always smell pretty good. I would recommend Cabanas to anyone who is looking for unique flavors at a decent price. read more

My husband devoured his food, while my anxiety basically required me to wait until we got home to eat. I would definitely recommend stopping by The Brick House and grabbing a bite to eat. They have never disappointed us or the people we've sent their way.
