No adding salt, no replacing filters, no multiple tanks in your garage, etc. Molly from Superior Water was so friendly and informative on the Waterboy filtration system, explaining the history of this family-owned business, the longevity of their many of their happy employees, and the construction of the Waterboy units, made in San Diego. The installation was super quick and efficient, led by the expert Rowan and his buddy - the two of them were so synchronized, it was impressive to watch. They had the old Halo unit removed and the Waterboy installed in about a half-hour! The Waterboy has an automatic, scheduled, weekly clean-out, and they took the time to extend the run-off water to sprinkle the drier sections of our lawn and garden. Molly tested the filtered water, confirming that the Waterboy was filtering out the chlorine. There are still minerals in the water, but they easily swipe off with a finger. We feel more confident that our quality bath fixtures from Ferguson Home and California Faucet will have a nice long life with Waterboy. Yes, we recommend Superior Water, it was such an easy decision.

I came into this installation with a pretty detailed list of things I wanted addressed based on our experience with the old system. I also came armed with approximately 847 questions. Marco and David handled all of it with patience, professionalism, and the kind of confidence that makes it obvious they know their trade extremely well. We talked through the placement of the Titan 2000 and Executive 12, the brine tank, the flex connections, and especially the routing of the drain line. I was particular about where things went and how everything was laid out in the garage. Instead of simply doing whatever was easiest, they listened to what mattered to me, explained the options, and made sure the finished installation worked for our space and our needs. What impressed me just as much were all the details I didn't ask for. The power cords were neatly routed and secured to the wall with cable clips, excess cord was bundled cleanly, the plumbing was tidy, and everything looked intentional and finished. You can tell when installers are simply trying to get to the next job, and you can tell when people actually take pride in what they leave behind. Marco and David clearly fall into the second category. Once everything was installed, they didn't just pack up and disappear. They took the time to walk me through both systems, explain the regeneration cycles, what to expect over the next couple of days, and even things I hadn't thought to ask about, such as what happens after a power outage and what I might need to check or reset. By the time they left, I actually understood the equipment that had just been installed in my house. They were professional, experienced, patient, friendly, and left behind an exceptionally clean installation. And perhaps most importantly, neither of them judged me when I paid them with my Star Wars themed check. To be fair, I never did establish whether either of them was secretly a Trekkie, so I suppose they may simply have been exercising extraordinary professional restraint. Either way, no intergalactic incident occurred, which I consider another mark of excellent customer service. Seriously, Marco and David represented Sunshine incredibly well. When you're spending this kind of money on equipment for your home, you want the installation to look and feel like it was done by people who genuinely care about the finished product. During the sales process, we were clearly told that the system being sold to us would filter the water for our entire home. After installation, we later discovered that this was not accurate. The system does not fully filter the water as represented, and we were informed afterward that a reverse osmosis system would be required to properly filter our water to the level we expected. This was never clearly explained to us before purchase. In addition, the long-term service and maintenance costs were not disclosed. We were not informed about the recurring service requirements or the cost of maintenance that would occur every few years. These are significant expenses that absolutely should have been disclosed upfront. We feel we were misled about both the capabilities of the system and the true cost of ownership. Transparency and honesty are critical when making a large home investment, and unfortunately, that was not our experience. I hope this review encourages the company to be more upfront and transparent with future customers about what their systems actually do and the full scope of ongoing costs. We are not disputing the equipment installed or the service dates. The concern is how the system was represented during the sales process. Most homeowners are not water treatment professionals. We relied on your company to explain, in plain terms, what the system would and would not do. That did not happen in a way that allowed us to make a fully informed decision. Regarding maintenance, the issue is not that the systems require service. The issue is that the scope and cost of that maintenance were not transparently outlined upfront. Learning years later about substantial service fees, replacement costs, and price increases is very different from being given a clear picture of long-term ownership costs before signing a contract. Saying the system "operated without issue" misses the point. Functionality is not the same as full disclosure. Additionally, your response references specific account details despite this being a general public review. Given that the system is not even under my name, it is concerning that internal records are being used in a way that attempts to publicly attribute and rebut a customer review. That approach feels less like clarification and more like an effort to discredit my experience rather than address the concern. Providing brief technical support on an alkaline filter does not negate the larger issue of sales transparency. Although, you or whoever we spoke to did mention working on some sort of discount towards service or replacement filters. With that said, our review reflects our experience. It was time to replace my Life Source whole house filter, and I did extensive research regarding…read morealternatives. I had settled upon a filter produced on the East coast. I ordered it and it was en route. In the meantime, a local plumber made me aware of the Deepwave whole house water filter produced by KIS Water Inc., a company here in Carlsbad. I drove over and met the owner, Kyle Kuypers. Kyle designed the system. He impressed me as a knowledgeable, articulate, and a man of integrity. I was so impressed by what Kyle showed me that I cancelled the order from the East coast. It had already been shipped, but I thought the Deepwave system was so superior in design to other filters I had researched that I bore the cost ($500.00) of shipping the other unit back. The unit I had returned required flushing, which completely drains and refills the filter cylinder, every three days. Failure to do so would render void the warranty. Every other unit I looked at required flushing, or "backwashing" at least once a week. That's a lot of wasted water. The Deepwave system is, in my opinion, superior to the other systems I looked at because it does not require periodic backwashing. The purpose of the backwashing in whole house water filters is to keep the filter media in suspension. The water enters the filter, flows down through the media, then up through a tube in the center and into your home. So over time, gravity and the downward flow of the water compacts the media and creates channels through it. Backwashing is designed to keep the media in suspension or as one vendor put it, to "fluff" the media. The Deepwave is designed such that the water entering the filter flows down via a tube in the center, then up through the filter media and into the home. This means that the media is constantly kept in suspension because it's not working against gravity. Any whole house filter that requires backwashing also requires electricity to run a timer. Every filter I looked at required this. The Deepwave, because it does not require periodic flushing, does not need a timer and therefore does not need to be plugged into an outlet. Also, through use of magnetic straps on the inlet and outlet pipes, calcium hardness crystals are kept in a suspended solid form. This softens and reduces the usual scale mineral deposits you typically see on your plumbing fixtures. Kyle put me in touch with Art Carlin, a contractor who is the owner of Absolute Water in Escondido, for the installation. Art was able to come up with an elegant and creative installation in a very tight space (see photo). The whole house filter is the silver cylinder on the left. If you're in the market for a whole house water filter, you've no doubt come across all sorts of companies, all claiming to be the best, and "top ten" type rankings that are often more confusing and contradictory than helpful. Often there is a list of what the filter purportedly does, but the backup testing protocols and data are not supplied. Kyle documented all the Deepwave performance claims. I have complete confidence in the company and in the system they sell. I highly recommend it.
