Working with Camarillo Flight Instruction, I was thoroughly impressed! Initially, I contacted several flight training schools in November, 2012. I explained my unique circumstances of desiring to complete the FAA required Flight Review. One seemed more interested in keeping their not-well maintained aircraft in the air and at another the instructor spoke more about his ambition to acquire an airline pilot job than discssing my goals. I took time to figure out finances and choose the right place to train. I chose Camarillo Flight Instruction because they inquired about my intentions and provided a plan to get me there. This gesture proved that Camarillo Flight Instruction did not simply see me as a potential customer, but as a fellow aviation colleague. In addition, the instructors at Camarillo Flight Instruction are professional, dedicated and enthusiastic. Since it had been a few months since my last flight and also my first flight in California, I opted for a scenic flight rather than an instructional one. My instructor let me fly the whole time (since I had hours), while he handled comms (wasn't quite ready to embarrass myself in front of the controllers just yet). Our route took us from KEMT past downtown LA, dodger stadium, hollywood sign, KSMO, transited the LAX bravo via LA Special flight rules, KLGB, KFUL, and back. their fleet is well maintained and it was an amazing flight (except I forgot to flair during landing).

I have only been to Above All Aviation on two occasions. I live about an hour away…read more The first time was in 2015 when my wife purchased a gift certificate for the Red Bird Simulator. I scheduled a time block and arrived about 15 minutes early. The Instructor seemed a little put out and said you're only 30 minutes late. I said I didn't realize you wanted me here 45 minutes before my time block. The Instructor then went to a calendar and asked my name again, and said "Oh I guess you are early, well let's go." I thought to myself I'm not going to let his bad day ruin mine. As we walked over to the simulator his attitude completely changed. It turned into a great experience. I just recently took my Private Pilot Knowledge Test and the facility and staff are great. The staff takes there jobs very serious, but are very friendly. I was actually very impressed by the search prior to and after the exam. Very professional and explained everything prior to the test. Another great experience wish I lived closer.

When I went to fire the engine up to come home, nothing. The battery was dead, and the FBO had no start cart for a piston engine. I'm basically dead in the water. None of the mechanics shops are open, and hand propping is never a great option. I was busy calling every business on the field, and it was Above All to the rescue. Joel got stuff together, drove to my plane. He was exceptionally careful, and we talked about what we were going to do before starting. Long story short, the engine was started, and I was on my with minimal delay. I can highly recommend Above All for going above and beyond, and attention to safety.
