But after my recent experience, I wish I could give them zero. I had a car scheduled to be delivered for July 20th to take my daughter to summer camp. Just over 24 hours the car is supposed to be delivered, I received an email stating that Kyte is no longer operating in Brooklyn, and that my reservation was being canceled and refunded. No phone call, no advanced notice, just a last-minute email - AND the refund won't be processed for 5 - 7 business days (I still haven't received it). This left me scrambling, panicking, and searching for a new rental car during a very busy summer weekend. I eventually found one at the airport, which now means added Uber fees on top of the MUCH higher rental cost. We were not in a position financially or time-wise to be dealing with this. To make matters worse, Kyte still attempted to charge me a $500 security deposit even after canceling my reservation. I anticipated this and made sure the card on file didn't have enough funds - and I was right. I was still receiving emails and notifications as if my rental was going ahead, including instructions for my "vehicle drop-off". This experience was completely unacceptable, incredibly frustrating, and put my family in a stressful and unfair situation (emotionally and financially!). It's been 10 business days and still no refund. I'm now trying to track down Turo's customer service - spending more time that I really don't have for this frustrating mess they created. Do not rent from Turo. The risk of this happening to you is not worth it.

I had booked well in advance and was relying on the reservation for an important trip. Because of the last-minute cancellation and total lack of communication, I was forced to scramble for alternate transportation and spend over $1000 out of pocket--nearly triple the original cost. The refund for the canceled booking was processed, but my request for reimbursement of the additional expenses has been met with vague, evasive responses and zero accountability. Turo has shown an alarming disregard for basic customer service and responsibility - which is consistent with other Turo customers experiences with cancelled reservations on their original platform. Their support team has failed to acknowledge the financial harm caused, and after multiple attempts to seek resolution, they have become unresponsive. Based on my experience and the wave of similar reviews, I would strongly advise others to avoid relying on Turo for transportation. The risk of being abandoned without support is real--and expensive.

There was a line when I arrived, but the employee working did a great job moving through everyone efficiently. There was some confusion with their internal hand‑off process, which was frustrating and slowed things down, but eventually I got my truck. The vehicle was clean and ran smoothly. The only downside was that the lock on the back was broken, so I had to buy my own -- hopefully that's been replaced by now. The return process, however, was super easy. I just dropped the truck off and left, and my final bill came through shortly after. Overall, a decent experience with a few bumps.

Pick up was simple - walked in and showed my info and the van was ready right away. Drop off is easy as well. Staff at the pick up desk quite friendly for an early Sunday am. Few things to note - they add a $15.95 facility fee on top of everything for renting from the Chelsea location (seems absurd to me). Might want to refill gas on your own. I drove 14 miles and let them refill the gas. They charged me for 2 gallons but it's nearly impossible to have used that much gas going that short distance. I rented a cargo van, which looks small in the pictures, but when I arrived, they had graciously upgraded me to a larger version which was a little hard to drive through the streets of New York City.

Going into the rental, I prepared myself for the worst experience of a lifetime, but for all of the…read moreinconveniences I suffered, I was compensated, so in the end, I suppose I got what I paid for. First off, Penske starts off with higher rates, but is the only company where you can negotiate (price matching) and that gives discounts such as Triple A discounts over the phone. Budget and U-Haul do not offer this, so Penske will probably always come out to the cheapest. Also, Penske gives you unlimited miles, so you don't have to worry about accidentally taking detours. But here's where the bad stuff happened: 1. The only way that Penske would have been price-competitive was with the Triple A discount. I personally did not have a card, but I am covered under my family's plan. I didn't know if this was going to cut it, however, so I called Penske to make sure. The person on the phone said it would be ok to bring my dad's card, as long as we had road-side assistance. But the person at Chelsea rental said that I had to have the card under my name so that she could swipe it. So she did not apply this insurance. 2. Chelsea Rental, the contractor that houses Penske, did not check the back of the truck before we drove it away. So I drove the truck all the way back to the UWS. Only to open it up and discover a bunch of crap in the back. There were about 20 dollies, and hundreds of pounds of packaging material. So I had to drive it all the way back to Chelsea and have them take it all out. This delayed the trip by about an hour and a half. Here are the redeeming things: 1. The Penske truck we got was brand new. This probably meant the gas mileage was pretty good. compared to other older trucks of the same size. 2. They compensated me for the "bad stuff" and refunded $75 dollars off of the total rental. Other things to know driving to Boston: You can make it on a full tank of gas. You will just need to fill it up right before you turn it in, and it will be about $60 dollars in gas money. I opted for the $50 dollar insurance, but I really did not need it. Waze will tell you a way to get there that is shortest, but keep on I-95 as you exit New York, as this is the road without little tunnels that will scrape the top of your truck off. Once you get into CT, you can take 84 to 91 (or 91 to 84 or something like that... (go through Hartford)

I don't want to blow up the spot of the guy who helped me out, but lets just say I got a bit of leeway on some things. On top of the friendly and generous attitude, I got a brand-spanking new truck with no damage and an honest fuel gauge. Speaking of dishonest fuel gauges, Chelsea U-Haul can suck it. Not having a hellish rental experience was an extremely refreshing change, and having a great rental experience was a complete surprise.

let me start by stating that i have rented here several times without issue. its around the corner…read morefrom my mothers apartment and is therefore convenient. i have never had a problem or long wait picking up a car and have always had friendly people helping me. the reason for the three stars is because it closes at 3pm and there is no after hours drop off despite it being located inside a garage. i have never encountered a rental office without an after hours drop off! they do have two alternate locations at which you can return the car however, neither is relatively close. this is NYC so going 2 miles is a several hour ordeal. furthermore, even assuming you can then dispose of the rental, you will need to get back which is another hour. either stay open until a reasonable hour or have an after hours drop off as does every other rental company everywhere. ooops. intrepid too soon. went to drop my car off this morning at 8 am, the time by which i needed to move it off of the street where it was parked overnight and an hour after they opened. they were closed. just decided not to open today. so i got into a fight with the garage attendants who told me that i had to take it to work 49th or east 81st. if i was a tourist this would seem doable. but i was born and raised here so am well aware of what it entails to drive there in city traffic let alone get back here via the use of public transport. as i didn't have a sleazy set aside to return the car, i argued with the garage guys until one was reasonable enough to allow me to leave it there. he can keep it for all i care. unreal.

This was my first time hiring movers, and I was skeptical after some stressful and strenuous moves on my own. However, I was impressed with the ease and professionalism I experienced with Stanley and Omar from Man With a Van. Everything I packed made it to my new apartment in one piece. I saw them handle my expensive instruments and furniture carefully and with ease and precision. The whole move took less than two hours from one BK neighborhood to another. On top of that, Stanley and Omar were kind and respectful and made the move, dare I say, enjoyable. I looked into many different NYC moving services and got quotes with prices ranging all over the place. Man With a Van was one of the cheapest, and I feared that this meant the service would be lacking, but I was proven completely wrong. I felt like they went above and beyond. They really reminded me that they are professionals and movers can be fairly cheap and remain a wonderful service!
