For us, the scope of work was:
- pour ~40sqft (@~5" deep) of concrete
- remove old yard gate and replace with new gate (built & painted to match the removed gate)
From a "pleasure to work with perspective", this team is a solid 5. One of the owners, Brad, engaged in communication with us and asked several insightful questions for clarification. They communicated with us through email for the estimate, timelines and final billing.
The concrete job was done well. I did not request for the concrete to match the existing. My need was to have a section patched (that used to be a planter) so that it could be usable again. The tricky part was that they needed to slope the concrete such that it tied into the drain nicely; this was done without a hitch. 5 month update on the work: the concrete has only cracked along the edges (control joints?), otherwise it's lasting quite well.
The gate job was done just okay. The team matched the existing fence and paint quite well. The wood used was cedar with a wire string pull mechanism.
My greatest criticism for the entire job was the gate. After the work was done, Brad said that he would return to bring some extra paint so that I could touch up some areas, but it was never delivered. The second and most important item, which is the reason why I rated this company a 3 is the hanging of the gate. After the work was done, I noticed that the gate was bent outward toward the street at the bottom and each month it was getting worse; I suspect that it might be the tension wire that was added to the back "to prevent it from slumping" (I was told). Now after 5 months, the bottom of the gate is an inch from being even which is visually distracting. The gate still opens and closes as it should but I'm getting concerned with the warping. :\ Finally, in looking at the back of the gate, you can see that the 2x4's weren't positioned at right angles, so it doesn't look very professional.
