Shipping a car can be traumatic. YouTube is full of entertaining stories how transport goes wrong…read more Entertaining if it's not your car. I bought a car about a year ago and the dealer arranged transport that must have been through a broker. Nightmare. It was only chance the car made it unscathed. I bought another car a month ago, and this time I was responsible for transport. So while I was looking for the car of my dreams, I was also looking for transport. The key piece of evidence was checking out Pebble Beach Concours (in August every year) photos and see what trucks are there. If those companies are trusted with multi-million dollar cars, I should be able to rely on them for my expensive (to me) purchase. I actually saw two names on the trucks in the Pebble Beach photos. I tried one and for 3 weeks got the runaround. Each time I called, the story was always exactly, "we're waiting on a truck to become available." Eventually I read that as, "you're not one of our priority customers." So I submitted a quote request on Reliable's website. I think on a Thursday. I got the quote back almost immediately and Monday I called and spoke to Chad, who turned out to be their Operations Manager. He couldn't be nicer and treated me like I shipped $100M of cars every year with them. I told him my sad story (full disclosure) and gave them my credit card number to release the order to dispatch. I hung up and hoped something happened in the next week. 8a the next day, the dealer that had my car back in Detroit (and had been patiently holding the car inside for weeks) emailed that the car was being loaded! Delivery was the fantasy experience I had hoped for--but didn't get--with last year's car. José (the driver) was one awesome dude. So professional and a really nice guy. We met at my local Mercedes dealership. It's a huge facility right off 101N, which suited Reliable much better than coming to my house, which is not easily accessible by a huge, enclosed transport truck. I went up to José and introduced myself with, "For you, it's just another Sunday. For me, this is a fantasy." He smiled and then showed why he's an extraordinary driver for a wonderful company. The big reveal (my wife and a friend were there and had never seen the car) was a blast. It was really neat to see the specialized equipment the trucks have to transport the cars in style (air ride!), and the care José used in every step. And did I mention the truck was immaculate? I'm still not sure how that's possible. The thing came cross country, up from LA (picking up the Long Beach F1 Grand Prix pace car) to the SF Bay Area, and it looked like a councours-prepared vehicle. It's like judging people by how they dress and their shoes (in the old days). Nowadays, you judge a transport company by how they treat their equipment. P.S. I might have lucked out on the scheduling... I learned in this experience that top-notch transport can take time if you don't want your car brokered off to who-knows-who using a pickup truck and a clapped out trailer. You also have to work around the big annual car events (Pebble Beach, Amelia Island, ModaMiami...) when huge numbers of cars are going into the event and then are "stranded" until after the event to return the cars home. If you're paying for this level of service (Reliable's quote was a surprise because it was reasonable), receiving the car in perfect condition is really all that matters long term. Under this rule, I was happy to be patient for a while with the first company... note that I still haven't heard from the first company... not even a proactive status... and it's been 5 weeks.

Because he had no idea where we live, he took a turn at the neighborhood entrance onto a street that leads to a dead end. He requested that I come down to help him, so I grabbed my neighbor to give me a ride to where he was. After I got him to move his semi out of the very tight entrance, so neighbors could get in, he was so worried about not being able to turn around in the cul-de-sac at the end of our house, (like many semis have done in the time we have lived here), that I showed him a space he could drop the car at, and leave the neighborhood directly. Of course, I was expecting to jump in the '55 and drive home, but.... the car was out of gas! We got it off the truck, with me pushing, and him inside steering, and I had to call my neighbor to come back and give me a ride to the gas station. Now, the car being out of gas isn't the driver's problem, but it also isn't a problem for me, IF THE DRIVER HAD UNLOADED THE CAR IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE! You know, the service I paid for. He dumped it almost a mile from my house, and it was my responsibility to get it the last mile home. Nice....

The enclosed Masney truck was absolutely amazing - sparkling clean, a mechanical marvel that looked brand new. The driver team was equally wonderful (Andrew and Eric) - incredibly knowledgable, even about my son's vintage truck. Efficient, friendly, super careful, very thorough in everything they did. (Yes, we stood there and watched/filmed them doing everything - it didn't bother them in the least.) The communication was stellar - I had the driver's personal cell phone number - they kept in contact with us the whole way. The home office folks were also great - I paid nothing until our car was actually on the truck. (In fact, I called in the next morning with my credit card.) The speed of the job FAR exceeded my wildest expectations (and was, even for them, extraordinary.) Pick-up in Dallas to DropOff in Daytona Beach - approx. 21 hours. I chose Masney because I had seen one of their trucks on the road, driving really well in a very challenging situation. Different truck on our job, but absolutely the same level of service. Will be hauling this car back and forth for a few years - will NEVER use anyone else. Thank you, Andrew! Thank you, Eric! Thank you, Keith! 3 Masney is AMAZING.

He was confrontational toward two women who were present with their young children, creating a very intimidating environment. He demanded my ID, which I provided without issue. He then stated he needed my vehicle registration and claimed he needed to take a photo of it for his report. Although I felt very uncomfortable, I still cooperated and held the registration where he could clearly photograph it. When I attempted to ask why this documentation was necessary, he became increasingly hostile and began yelling at me instead of calmly explaining the process. He then threatened to call the police and stated we would not be able to retrieve the vehicle until officers arrived. Throughout the interaction, he was aggressive, disrespectful, and verbally abusive. At one point, he told me to "shut the f*** up" in front of my children, which was completely unacceptable and frightening for them to witness. No customer -- especially women with children present -- should be treated in such a hostile and intimidating manner. The entire experience was deeply upsetting and unprofessional.

I had just been discharged from the hospital following surgery related to cancer treatment when I discovered my rental vehicle had been towed from a parking lot. The vehicle had been parked there by my fiancé in error, without my knowledge. When I contacted your company to explain the situation and request consideration due to my recent surgery and financial hardship, I was met with extremely unprofessional and dismissive behavior. I was told that I was "playing the cancer card" in an attempt to receive something for free. Then, he kept dismissing me in a tone of non chalant manner that "mistakes cost money" as if I am in a butcher shop requesting groceries voluntarily and have funds to throw away. This statement was deeply offensive and inappropriate. I was not attempting to take advantage of your business--I am advocating for myself during a medically and financially vulnerable time. Additionally, I was initially quoted $140 to retrieve my vehicle, which was then increased to $150 during the same interaction. This added to my distress and gave the impression of inconsistent and unfair treatment. As a mother, currently recovering from surgery, and the sole source of income for my household, this situation has placed a significant burden on me. The funds requested were intended for essential expenses, including my daughter's tuition and medical expenses. I am requesting that this matter be reviewed by management, including the conduct of the employee involved. No customer--especially one in a medically vulnerable condition--should be treated in this manner. I also request reconsideration of the charges associated with this tow, given the circumstances. Please confirm receipt of this complaint and inform me of any actions taken. Sincerely, Anabell Abud
