Maybe it's because I'm from Chicago and we have some of the best burger places in the world or maybe bobos just didn't live up to the hype. I ordered the slaw burger. I liked it don't give me wrong it wasn't bad. But it also wasn't a four five star burger. The burger was cooked the way I wanted it the slaw was delicious and I added cheese. I'd not been here in a good while so I decided to patronise Bóbós. I got the Cheese Burger with all the optionals, except the tomato. OMG it was just what I needed. I must have walked past this place a hundred times without noticing it. The location is rather small and easy to miss, but I'm really glad a friend took me here because the food is fantastic. The burgers are massive and delicious. They were super busy the night we were there and even though other reviewers had bad service ours was really good. It took a while to get seated due to how busy they were but once we were the watress was friendly and helpful, brought everything as it was done, and did a nice job. Bóbó's is most definitely a bloke's burger bar. They serve up big, proper, chunks of beef sandwiched in a bap the size of a small kitchen press. You can even get them 'protein style' - without the bun if you want to bypass (no pun intended) the carbs altogether and just consume pure meat. The problem is that you can dress a burger up in a toothpick an d Mango relish, but it's still just a burger, and you're still paying ten or eleven quid. You're kinda just better off goin' to the butcher and getting a steak. All the cow imagery does appeal to me though, because I like to be reminded what my food used to look like back when it had eyes. read more

Had lunch here today, and i'm inclined to agree with my fellow yelpers to a point. Yes the burger I had was lovely, really tasty and filling (Had the happy life chicken burger) and my friend who I was having lunch with had a regular burger. The portions are big and you'll be full after it. Huge potrtions of chips a chubby chips and skinny fries was loads for two people. I can't help feeling though that I was across the road in Eddie Rockets, because its pretty much the same food and service with a different name. With Empty pockets prices to match. The Cashel has blue cheese, bacon, relish and rocket and the Diorai is topped with chilli, salsa, jalapenos, crème fraiche. They also have 3 vegetarian options, though they don't seem to suggest you can get a veggie patty with the fixins from the other burgers... Anyway, sounds yummy, right!? Yes, Bobos makes a darn good burger. But I agree with the others that I wasn't totally wowed. Went for the Little Miss Piggy in here the other day, to be in line with the day of eating and drinking I'd had thus far. As many have said before, it's a HUGE burger. But really disappointingly dry.I took it out of the bun and ate it with my salad instead (something I would normally be vehemently against!), but it was the only way. The salad itself was rocket, parmesan and pine nuts, and came to SIX EURO. A bit much for a side?! The place is pretty small and the tables are similarly small and a bit wobbly. That said, their burger selection is impressive. I ordered the Portobello and my fella got the Colm. We split a 50/50 (chips and onion rings) between us and he ordered a chocolate milkshake and I got a bottle of Fanta. The food was really really tasty and happily wolfed down (we were starving!), the servers were friendly and the place wasn't too busy. The prices were a little steep, but these are "proper" burgers, not a skinny lump of mystery meat drowned in cheapy ketchup in a sesame bun. One strange thing.. I can see why people have mixed feelings about this place. A classic "good food, bad surroundings" situation. As good as our food was, the grubby surrounding sort of took the shine off the meal. But back to the important stuff: that food. The burger menu is extensive, and it's clear that a lot of thought has gone into it. I went for the "Colm", a beef burger with guacamole, black pepper and bacon. My partner-in-crime went for a the "Applewood", beef with applewood cheese (duh), apple relish and bacon. This is how burgers are meant to be made, with proper high quality mince. Very tender and juicy, it wasn't so much of a patty as just a pile of mince that had found itself stuffed into a burger bun. The accompanying onion rings were nice, if a little greasy. As plates and glasses started to crowd the table, I did get a little worried about whether our battered table could handle it. It rocked, it swayed, at one point I'm pretty sure it swooned. I'd ignore this as an unlucky choice of table, but the entire place had a similar ramshackle feel to it. I've been to this place 3 times now. I've had the beef, chicken and veggie options. They definitely do a good beef burger, good quality beef and great options for toppings. The chicken was good as well. I was a little disappointed with their veggie burger, but I don't normally expect good veggie food at a burger place, so won't hold that against them. Chips and onion rings are great as well. Price for beer is reasonable and they have good shakes as well. The staff is very good in there as well. They make sure you have everything that you want and are quick with service. I'd say it's the second best burger place in Dublin behind Jo'burger. (like some others have said). Bobo's is a great burger place. I'll admit the actual tables are tiny, the place is tiny and not exactly modern. However the staff are friendly and the burgers are great. The Conn burger is my favourite. But the other burgers look great too. The chips are also great with the chilli chips making a great addition to the meal. If you are veggie / fishy person they do a fish finger burger and a veggie burger of some sort. The shakes are made in front of you and like the rest of the food are dirty in the extreme. I used to pass this place all the time. Always curious, but not curious enough. Now, I am actually disappointed with myself that I didn't venture into Bobo's before. I would recommend their Cashel burger to anyone who loves blue cheese (and that should be everyone!) Cashel blue cheese, bacon, black pepper, rocket, home made salsa ... oh and the burger. My mouth is watering just typing this. The chips come in 2 varieties, skinny and chubby. Both are delicious but it's the chubby chips that win out for me. Especially with some cajun seasoning on top. A nice cool beer to wash it down with is the last perfect ingredient to any meal. The lunchtime deal (Burger, chips & drink) for €10 is very good value as well. Sadly, it does have to lose a star. Great peri per chicken sandwich! Super spicy which is exactly what I wanted - so much flavor! The sandwich was really filling even without fries! The drinks selection is lacking for a burger joint, but we made do with some Erdingers. We managed to get a seat on a Friday night, and shortly after there was a line out the door! Bobo offers a variety of burgers, sides and some salads. I tried just burgers here. Personally I think the meat is good and very juice. I was surprised with the quality of the meat. But damn, these buns...it's like this very blank tasteless buns you can buy at any cheap grocery store. They work when you are 16 and it is the first burger you ever make to impress your first boyfriend, but for the restaurant this buns are just NO. I think if they worked on their buns it would already out them at another level. Been here 3 times before - food is not too bad with some good burgers, paired with a nice beer selection. Of the bobos locations in Dublin this one is one of the smaller ones - and I have always found their service to be of a lower standard than the Dame Street location. Tonight though we walked out, after arriving at around 9:50pm, seated ourselves, while the server was cleaning the floor. She then asked us if we would mind moving to a different table so she could clean the floor underneath the one we initial sat at. We obliged and she continued to mop the floor while we read the menu. At precisely 10pm she came to take our order and when I asked about their burger special (advertised on the board outside on the sidewalk) she shook her head and announced that she is unable to put an order through for the special as it "had just turned 10". We were in your restaurant before 10 and you were mopping the floor, so that just tops poor dismissive service, even by Dublin's sometimes wanting standards. Perhaps this particular server can will find McDonalds a more suitable place of employment as she managed to take the special off the menu faster than McDonalds make their breakfast disappear at 10am. Suffice it to say, choose the Dame Street location over this one, or else visit the excellent Bunsen Burger a few doors down - this location does not want your custom. read more

Bobo's safe but classic selection of burgers makes for an authentic and unpretentious menu. Inside it's small, low key, and bar-like with its high tables, chairs and cowhide benches lining the wall. Pick a weeknight when business is slower, and service more calm and laid back. Even after our meal we were left to linger and talk for a decent hour, listening to the soul music and the hiss of the grill. The burgers themselves were perfect, not too thick and just cooked enough to remain juicy but give a charred crust to the outside. We went for the more conventional toppings, the 'Conn' - smoked bacon, cheese, mayonnaise and BBQ sauce, and the 'Dubliner' - cheese and gherkin. They were delectable, generous and uncomplicated, with good, strapping flavours and decent ingredients. More triumphant was the ice-cream and wafers for dessert. Consisting of a budget bowl of cheap ice cream and conventional wafer biscuits, it was both a mouth-watering and nostalgically unadorned dessert. I'll admit that there are times when the mile-high, Jo'Burger-esque burgers with unusual toppings have their place but I would never play down, certainly not after my pleasing visit to Bobo's the equivalent immensity associated with an unpretentious, modest burger in a bun. read more

The next time i was a little disappointed, the bun only highlighted how minuscule the burger was. I think it must have been a bad day in the kitchen. Still though I will go back!! In general I like Bóbós. Just not this Bóbós. I would suggest you go to the one on Dame street for a better all round experience. Firstly the tables are for 2 people (obviously you can pull them together for larger groups) but a table is not big enough for 2 plates, 1 side & 2 drinks. Secondly although the place seemed what I would consider to be fairly quiet, the service was unbelievably slow, with the waitress stopping to clean empty tables while we were waiting 15 minutes to order. The selection of drinks wasn't great, with the waitress advising that their beer on tap wasn't great (which we did appreciate). The food was delicious. & it is reasonably priced given the quality of the food. Just not keen on the restaurant itself. Dame street is #1 for me! read more

Really good falafel burger. As a vegetarian I am always super happy to get a veggie burger and Bobo's offers more than one choice, plus a big range of sauces! My only small issue (this might be specific to the Wexford Street one) was the not too comfy seating and the fact that a sizeable burger and fries would be better served on a bigger plate. The beef had a lot of flavor but the overall burger is missing some seasoning that does not allow this burger to stand out. Despite not being a standout, the Dubliner is a still a very good burger and the beef and bun were a solid duo. Sure you do get a good burger and the fries are pretty good but in an age where every restaurant and their mother are re inventing burgers, I couldn't help but feel the burger was pretty average. They have some heavy competition on the street as well with Bunsen within 100 yards. The restaurant didn't feel very comfortable (almost cramped). The staff were super nice which was great. Bóbós had a singular attraction for me, as I cycle past it nearly every day when I come home from the gym, and there is nothing like the combination of depleted blood-sugar levels and the smell of chips frying to whet the appetite. Bóbós arrived on the scene at pretty much the same time as Jo'Burger, but Jo'Burger it is not. The burger that I had in Bóbós was pretty pedestrian to tell the truth, and definitely not worth the almost 10 spots that I shelled out for the privilege. The chips were pretty good, though: chunky and with skins on, and one portion would very nearly feed two people on its own. Bóbós in general though... you'd be better off heading to Roma II for a burger that's basically as nice for a fraction of the cost. read more

Came here with a GrabOne coupon. Service is really friendly and attentive in that they are always around. I loved the layout inside, 'a lot better than Eddie Rockets' (across the street) as my friend said. Also a cute layout of a field with plastic cows in it when you first walk in. I got the Ranelagh and the falafel was so dry that it was difficult to eat (everything fell apart). My friend got the Spicy Sausage and really liked it. We also go the Onion Rings which were okay (could have used more reading) and the chips with three dips which were fantastic because I love aioli (garlic mayo). There was also curry sauce and sweet chili sauce (I think?). You'd be hard pressed for space if for a dolls party with 3 dolls eating, let alone more than one actual person. Also you'll be likely be sitting uncomfortably close to a pack of dumb drunks who harass the waitress between bouts of fantasy football talk. There are a huge selection of burgers but they're all slight variations of each other really and you'll probably end up ordering the bacon cheeseburger. I like the burgers but wouldn't really put them above places like GBK, the Counter or Bunsen. Still, not a bad spot if you can get there during their quieter lunch period!
