Between the lunch rush and the dinner rush, the place was very quiet. Which gave the staff plenty of opportunity to take care of me and to cook my burger perfectly. Which they did. My "Hamburger with Cheese" was requested with cheddar cheese and arrived fully dressed - pickle, tomato, onion and lettuce, plus mayo. I added ketchup and also poured a healthy squirt of it onto the plate for the fries. I'll tell ya, those fries were simply horrible (kidding!) and I had no choice but to eat every single one of them! Crisp and hot, with a decent sprinkling of salt, they were the right accompaniment for the Camden Hells Lager (a local brew) that came with a nice frosty glass. A great burger, I would have no problem returning! Tip: Don't sit too close to the door. The exhaust fans in the kitchen area pull the cigarette smoke into the restaurant. read more

Never been to a Byron's before but it's been a day of trying new things so here I am. Dropped in here after watching a movie so the first question was would they still be open and jackpot they were. The range of burgers on offer is good, with your basic classic burger to the chilli burger and the seasonal treat of Father Cheesemas. I didn't try the father Cheesemas as I didn't think I was hungry enough for that, but there is still time to get back and try one before the festive period is over. There were quiet a few people in this branch of Byron but you could still have a conversation without having to shout to hear yourself, always a positive. The staff were attentive, cheery and helpful. The time between ordering and getting our burgers was just right as my popcorn filled stomach was just telling me there was space which needed to be filled with proper food, and so it was. I will be back to a Byron's to see if I can catch the Father Cheesemas experience. read more

Slightly smaller Byron than other nearby locations, but friendly and enthusiastic staff make it worth a visit. The food is reliable and satisfying, on par with Byron's standards. The margaritas here are sometimes slightly under-filled, which makes it hard to justify the high price (£6.95), but are overall tasty. read more

Wifey wanted Mac and cheese and this place had it on the menu. She said it was delicious. I was too busy devouring my burger to try it. Burgers were excellent. The Byron sauce has Mayo tomatoes capers and something else I forgot. For us US residents it is similar to In-N-Out burgers dressing, just a tad fancier. The onion rings were also a hit. Have sat 20 minutes outside and was completely ignored. A family, who came after me was served. Inside the restaurant were only a few guests, so overload couldn't been the problem. Pretty decent hamburgers here. Each of them come with 6 ounce patties, and the price differs based on toppings, etc. fries are extra. I tried the Byron burger which came with a healthy topping of cheese and bacon, as well as a sauce. The bun was pretty squishy but otherwise the burger was juicy and tasty. This was my first stop in my quest to find London's best burger. Went quite late. (Around 11pm). The place was relatively empty and we were served quickly. The tables are a little bit too close for my taste, but that's OK considering is highly likely you're going with some friends to have some comfort food. I wouldn't go on a first date. I went for a Bacon Cheese Burger with a portion of chips to share (Burgers don't include them) and a Coke. (My friend did the same). 15 mins later we received our order. The size was OK (not massive), the burger was crispy and juicy. The bacon was delicious. Truly distinguishable. Loved the fact they had real american mustard (French's). In London for a few days, we were wandering around Leicester Square for kicks, and wandered upon this joint. We were jetlagged and tired, and burgers fit the bill for an easy meal. I will say that it was expensive, but since we're paying in pounds, everything is expensive with the exchange rate being what it is. In any case...burgers very good quality and cooked to perfection. I had a classic burger and my boyfriend had the Byron burger. We ordered sides of courgette fries (zucchini, to us Yanks), onion rings, and cole slaw. The cole slaw was American poppy-seed style, and was spot-on The onion rings were delicious, and the zucchini - uh - courgette fries were thick cut and fried well. All in all, pricey, but we got an excellent meal for the price. Wait staff were friendly and pleasant as well. I'd definitely stop in again if in the area. read more

I met a few friends here as i was in the mood for a good burger and had heard they were pro-movember which i'm (trying my hardest) to take part in. The place was busy when we arrived but the wait for a table was only 5 minutes, first things to notice were the atmosphere, busy but the staff didn't seemed too rushed or brushing by tables rapidly. Our waitress was pleasant, up for a bit of a laugh and made recommendations on sauces and toppings when we asked. I went for the Moburger with a side of fries, the option for chips was also a side so i liked having the option. Sometimes eating thinner chips (fries) makes me feel like i'm not being such a teletubby. We were also asked after we'd ordered how we'd like the burger cooked which a lot of places don't do. The burger itself was really good, good size, salad was nice as was the nice tender meat. I've had jucier burgers but this really did hit the spot. My friend got a peanut butter ice cream sundae as a dessert and although a bit sickly it was amazing. Really nice to help him finish it off (again, if i don't order a dessert i can eat loads of someone elses without feeling like a teletubby). I'll definitely be going back to Byron at some point, its standard gourmet burgers much like many other places especially GBK but i thought it was really good, quick service and definitely filled my burger craving, no easy task. read more

Needed somewhere to stop and grab food on an afternoon out. The service was quick and the food was okay. Overpriced for what it was but when you're hungry then you're desperate. If I was out in London starving I would come back here, however I could also go to Mcdonald's and pay 3.67 for a cheeseburger, fries,and a water bottle instead of 35.00 for a chicken sandwich, fries, and a water bottle and be just as satisfied with the taste. read more

First time Byron experience proved to be a highly positive one. Having been served by a Mr. "Classic" (written on his shirt), our server was smiling, fast, happy, and helpful. Absolutely great as it is rare to find someone serving you in London who really seems to enjoy his/her job. This man deserves a bonus for this alone. Oh my god. Today I had my first experience of Byron (I know right, what the hell, little late on that one). I ordered the chicken burger which is something I kind of regret (although not SO much that I didn't eat all of it, every single bit... and then 4 star Byron straight away but still...) it was a decent enough burger, but the chicken was just slightly dry and, when I tried the Byron burger my boy had ordered I realised what I was missing out on. Hello. Burger heaven. The Byron burger comes with dry cure bacon, mature Cheddar, Byron sauce (which is an amazing mayonnaisey, ketchupy, pickly, capery concoction, essentially thousand island dressing, but sexier) and a whole lotta beef. Which they said would come medium rare and, probably for the first time EVER in a burger restaurant - it did! Both our burgers also came with two big pickled cucumbers (gherkins). We also got some skin on chips, which we dipped in more of the the insane Byron sauce. I think it's obvious how much I enjoyed the food. Service was also perfect and unexpected, our first waitress was absolutely lovely and the guy we paid (possibly a manager) was brilliant. He turned the air con off when he saw me put my coat on! This was easily the best burger I've had in the UK. It was juicy (done medium and not fried to a crisp). It was flavourful, oh so flavourful. It didn't need any sauces as it was perfect, just perfect. I thought about flash-freezing it, running away with it and spending the rest of my life with it, sharing meaningful glances and sighs that only the burger and I would understand. There was none left, though, so this wasn't possible. In all seriousness, this place serves up a damn good burger. Give the chips/fries a miss and get the onion rings instead as they're wonderfully juicy and crispy, and try some of the Cholula that they have out on the tables. I used to be a big fan of Byron as a carnivore (their blue cheese burger is ace!), but last night was the first time I hit up Byron as a veggie. Firstly, Byron get brownie points for being open at 9pm on a Sunday night, so if you crave a good burger to drown your pre-Monday blues in, Byron is the one. I had a veggie burger (the only burger option on the menu) and courgette fries. I'm pretty used to the lack of options when it comes to veggie food at burger joints but I would still appreciate two items on the menu. That said, the burger was delicious and the combination of goat's cheese and Portobello mushroom in a brioche bun worked great. The fries were a bit too greasy for my liking, though. So there you have it - a strong 4 out of 5. Byron Burger restaurants are consistently good, at least in my experience. read more

If I crave a burger (once in 3 months) I go to Byron. There is no way I would let the calories go to waste in another place but this. I go for the medium rare - the meat is good quality so I'm not worried. You can ask the waiter if you're unsure that it's a good idea and they'll recommend. This or any other branch don't look fancy, but trust me the meat for the burgers would out-fancy your taste buds. Besides, just eat the bottom half of the bun - that will be already healthier and you won't feel too full after your meal (and you won't waste the space in your stomach for something that is not meat!) read more

Very solid, if slightly chainy, burger place. Expensive, to be sure - burgers, chips, and a beer was around £20 for each of us. Food's good -- better, to be honest, than some of the poshy burger joints vying for the title around town -- and service is, actually, really good: Food arrives as it's done, so you can eat whilst it's hot. Beer menu is excellent, though it's all in bottles - around £4 for a 330ml bottle of whatever. Almost all imported, though they have a house IPA, which even the staff will tell you pales next to Sierra Nevada. So, worth going, if you're near one. read more

I love Byron and am a huge fan. Its mostly their milkshakes that keep bringing me back, but they also do a tasty burger cooked medium (and it really is cooked medium). So sadly I just didn't love this branch as much as the others. I'm used to having loads of room, friendly staff and an unrushed experience. I just didn't get that here. It was quite empty, yet we were sat in between two couples on either side on very close tables. I could hear their conversation, so I'm sure they could hear mine. My burger was well done even though they asked if I wanted medium and it just wasn't up to scratch. It was just ok. If this was my first experience with Byron then I know I wouldn't go back, thankfully I know how good it can be. Oh Byron, it's taken me a while to get here but you've utterly stolen my heart. Even though there are things I'm not totally taken with, I'd eat here every day if I could. Let's start with the staff. Friendly, happy ladies, all nice and not grouchy in the slightest that my friend was 30 minutes late and I was taking up a table with my strawberry milkshake. Mmmm...strawberry milkshake. Once my friend arrived (just before I ate off my own arm), I was treated to what was the best burger I've ever had. It was perfect. Such wonderful meat, perfectly cooked to medium and just all so very very tasty. In fact, as yummy as they were, we couldn't make our way through the courgette fries and onion rings. Although that didn't stop me nibbling my way through them even though I was long past gone. I don't think you need the sides, the burgers are yummy all on their own, but if I'm walking by it's going to be very difficult not to buy more fries. Tasty tasty. I was here as part of the soft launch so didn't pay for my burger (although I'd have been happy to) and meal for two with milkshakes was £15 instead of £30. The only things I didn't like? We weren't told that the alioli was at an extra charge, it was just added onto our bill which seemed a bit sneaky. And I'd love the choice of pickles in my burger instead of on the side. But those little tiny things won't stop me from coming here, with all their happy stripy candy coloured walls and smiles. It's the happiest way to give yourself meat sweats. read more

We cheekily popped into the Leicester Square branch of Byron after eating dinner nearby, on the search for a good bowl of icecream. After explaining to the enthusiastic waitress that we were only wanting dessert, she laughed and made us feel at ease. Considering there were only three of us girls, we probably shouldn't have ordered three desserts to share. Two, or even one, would've been plenty. I wish we hadn't have ordered the brownie, which was large -- but not fresh-tasting at all. In fact, we barely ate half of it as it tasted like something Tesco would produce. The knickerbocker glory sundae was lovely though, with cream, flaked almonds, icecream, chocolate sauce and fruit coulis. The third dessert we got was just a simple bowl of toffee icecream. Simple, yet definitely the nicest out of the three. Each dessert was about £3 - £4.50, and service wasn't included -- which is always a nice touch, I think. I really liked the decor and service. The waiters were all really sweet, and played really good music too. However lacking the desserts may've been, it was a great night, and I'll definitely be returning for a burger at some point! read more

Went to Byron this afternoon as a casual birthday lunch for one of the guys in my office. We went at about 12.30pm and managed to get a booth straight away so we were off to a good start. The waitress was very friendly, and we had drinks within minutes. I must say, for a burger bar, the menu was a bit lack-lustre for me personally. Essentially just beefburger, cheese burger, burger with bacon and cheese, vegi burger and chicken burger. You could add extras onto your burger, but at about £2 per addition, this would get pretty pricey pretty quickly. Moreover, the burgers just come as they are- additions such as salad/ fries are in addition- again, at around £3 each. So by the time you've got a burger and chips, you're at about a tenner. When the food arrived, it was nice. Not incredible, but nice. I'd agree with earlier reviews that the burger didn't taste hand made, and the cheese was just melted cheese slices. For dessert i had the almond tart, which was pretty average. A plain supermarket style almond pastry with a chopped up strawberry and some squirty cream on top. For £5, i wasn't blown away. Fortunately, my boss paid for the meals on his expenses. For a couple of bottles of beer, a burger, a portion of fries and the dessert, i would've been looking at around £22. And as a glorified Burger King, for me, this is very expensive. The surroundings were quirky if a little tacky in my personal opinion, but the service was good and the waitresses really friendly. But this for me falls into the category of over-priced and over-rated glorified fast food. Fine if you're in the mood for a burger, but otherwise, i'd give it a miss. read more

I'd heard a lot of very good things about Byron. Most of them were true. The milkshakes were huge and so thick with ice cream we had to wait 5 mins for them to melt to be able to get any up the straw. The burgers were pretty good and I liked the choice of cheeses; especially the scary yellow American cheese very authentic but the meat was a wee bit to processed looking and having recently visited the #meateasy, it just didn't hold up in comparison. The BEST oreo cookie milkshake of my life. The waitresses were so friendly and helpful, and the burgers, mac and cheese, and corgette fries did not disappoint! We especially loved the little alley next to it with old and alternative bookstores. We needed to split checks and the most the waitress was able to do was three but she was very helpful about the matter. It seemed to be a pretty popular place and served to be a great lunch after a visit to the national portrait gallery! read more

Came in just after main lunch rush. We were very slow to be sat down - in fact we grabbed menus and took seats by ourselves after a good 4/5 minutes waiting to be sat. The place was about 1/3rd full at this point so there's no good reason for the waiting. Waitress was slow to come and take our order. We asked for our burgers cooked medium as they recommended. The arrived quite rare. We sent them back asking them to be cooked a little more. They insisted on cooking new burgers for us which i thought was a waste. we were happy to eat the ones we were given with a little more cooking. by the time the new ones arrived we were finished our side dishes which was a bit annoying. the house salad came absolutely drenched in oil. to be fair, they tried to rectify the rare burger situation and they were friendly in a kind of american smiley kind of way. at least the burger was good (in the end). But i most likely won't go back in a hurry. oh and the fries were £3 for a small bowl of fries. A burger should come with fries. read more

This was my first time in Byron after hearing so many amazing things about it and it didn't disapoint! I went in by myself with a half hour lunch break and the staff were quick and friendly and the food was delicious! i got the Byron Burger and Courgette Fries and it was just amazing. 10/10! read more

I love burgers and also happen not to eat meat, so I'm continually disappointed that Byron, now one of the leading 'posh' burger chains offer such a poor vegetarian option. I'm not expecting miracles here I know not to expect more than one 'option' in a burger joint (steady on!!) but I do wish they'd make a proper veggie pattie rather than presenting a mushroom in a bap as an equivalent option to the no doubt good quality meat burgers they serve. It's as if the management here are not aware this is a classic vegetarian bugbear. Also, other chains like Gourmet Burger Kitchen have four veggie choices, so the excuse I was given that you 'can't please everyone with one option' is just a bit lazy. Working in central London I'm often looking for a quick meal fix and my colleagues pop in here quite a bit, but I always have to turn down trips to Byron because I resent paying over the odds for a mushroom in a bap! Perhaps they want to exclude vegetarians, which frankly in a city like London is ill-advised. Oh, their decor rocks. Love it! One star for that. read more

Byron exceeded our expectations and my daughter and her boyfriend returned for a 2nd go at the burgers 2 days after our 1st visit. :) We are from Texas and I can tell you that a LOT of burger and steak house restaurants in Austin can take pointers from Byron's chefs on how to properly prepare and deliver a world-class burger.
