Amazingly delicious hard coffee ice cream. Speaking of hard.
    Fox E.

This place has the best ice cream, soft serve and milkshakes in Rochester, and for that reason, it's very popular with Celebs. I can prove it. Usher told his fans to "Let it Byrne", Savage Garden said "Crash and Byrne", while Blue Oyster Cult recommended "Byrne For You." The Talking Heads said "Byrne Down The House", while Finch said "What It Is To (Eat Ice Cream From) Byrne." Muse had "Sunbyrne", and of course Johnny Cash fell into a "Byrne Ring Of Fire." What to get: Black Raspberry Hard Ice Cream, Black Raspberry Soft Serve. Coffee hard ice cream. Choc shake. What else: Absolutely everything here is amazing. Best soft serve, best hard ice cream, and best shake *anywhere in the USA*. Seriously. Is it expensive: Are you kidding? 2.25 for a huge (kiddie) soft serve, 2.50 for a (huge) single ice cream scoop, and under $3 for a milkshake bigger than my thingy. Not only is this the cheapest shake in town, it's the best one! Seriously though: I drive here from near Buffalo (45 mins) at least once a week for treats. That's how good it is. What do you call a girl who sets fire to the written demands for payment that she gets in the mail?: Byrne-a-dette. I was amazed to discover how damn good Byrne Dairy is. It's unbelievably delicious. This is honestly one of the best ice cream, custard and shake places in the whole country. I like it a tiny bit better than Abbott's and Rita's, and a lot better than every other chain. There are only 2 Byrnes in ROC 585 and this is the better one. They have a window, serving fresh Byrne Ice Cream, Shakes, and Custard. They are famous for their Black Raspberry flavor and it's *incredible*. It sounds awful but it's orgasmically perfect. The service here is usually excellent although they don't always have the flavour you want. There's a lady that works here that is such an angel and makes such great recs. Sometimes in summer there is a line. But it's well worth the wait because the products are incredible! I've tried their hard coffee ice cream which is one of the best hard ice creams I've ever tasted. I've tried their chocolate shake which is one of the top 5 shakes I've ever had in my life (and I'm shake obsessed so that is a huge compliment). It's the best shake in the WNY region and that's a massive statement too since we have so many good homemade ones. The Black Raspberry shake is amazing. Get it made with hard ice cream. Always get your shakes made with hard ice cream, not soft serve. Tryst me. I mean trust me. Genuine typo. The Blueberry Honey Graham ice cream is just okay. The Wake Up Coffee one is just okay, the regular coffee is better. I've also had the Black Raspberry Hard Ice Cream and Soft Custard, and both were so good, so creamy, so fresh, so perfect, they cannot be described in words. You simply must get out here and try these. They are *incredible*. The cones are also very fresh and tasty. So if the sun is Byrne-ing you up and you need to cool down, this is where you need to come. Not literally come. We can take care of that later. If you want to. I won't even charge you. This time. Next time I'll charge you double. To balance things out. Sort of like giving away free heroin to college kids to get them hooked. Not that I would do that. I never give away heroin. I have to at least make a little profit off it, right? So it's the freshest product you'll ever eat or drink, dairy wise. And moreover, it's *the* best Ice Cream place, *the* best shakes, and *so* underrated. Also *the* best value for money. Please come out here and try it for yourself. We'll finish with a song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNnAvTTaJjM Watch out, if it's ice cream you're after Cool baby, so heavy you'll get fatter I'm an ordinary guy Byrne brings down the house Hold tight, wait 'til the ice cream's melted Hold tight, we're in for sticky fingers There has got to be a way To get Byrne near my house Here's your ice cream, choose your cone Time for slurping it all up Creamy goodness is here Rochester is not too far, Let your fam know where you are Fightin' humidity with ice cream, huah All wet, hey you might need a napkin Gulpdown, eat ice cream in broad daylight Three hundred sixty calories Byrne is in the house Omg Chili is a place? Sometimes I like to treat myself Gonna come from this taste People on their way to work, scuse me I'm here for a shake I put Byrne in first place!

This Byrne Dairy Store is sooooo much more than a convenience store! The store itself is great, has all the quick things you need to pick up and the prices are generally very reasonable ie: tonight they had a dozen eggs for $0.99! Location is on the corner of Chili Ave and open 24/7 - Including their ice cream! The ice cream/soft custard is really my favorite thing here! Echoing my fellow Yelpers - The Soft custard is so rich and creamy. I personally LOVE the Black Raspberry custard. They have an ice cream window - Sundaes, Flurries, Banana Splits, Shakes, Waffle cones. Greater than 20 flavors (That's a random guess, likely much more) of hard ice cream such as Peppermint Patty, Salted Caramel, Orange Sherbet/Vanilla. Prices are so reasonable. Small and Large cone tonight less than $6 and very generous portions. As the temps get a little higher stop by and get some ice cream!!

    Delicious! $7.55 wow!

What to get: Any of their incredible homemade ice cream flavours What else: The ice cream is homemade Anything else: Did I mention before, it's homemade? Was looking for a place to get the sh** beaten out of me. Came here. Thought it was called "Bruisers." Ended up with sensational ice cream instead. Here's the thing. A lot of ice cream places around here serve up Perry's. It's a local corporation that fills grocery stores with its signature flavours. It's pretty average, at best, although people in WNY seem to like it. But if you're going to go to an ice cream parlour and actually pay for an ice cream, why should it be the same sh** you get in the grocery store? Cut out the middle woman and get it right from the store, save some money. And yet most parlours in these parts do exactly that: buy Perry's from Wegmans or Tops, then sell it at a massive mark-up. I refuse to give those sorts of parlours more than a 4, and I usually give less. Then every now and again you find a gem. Cruiser's is that gem. Not a lot of people drive through LeRoy, NY these days, since most are on the pay-for-play Thruway I-90. But if you were to come East from Rochester on 490, and instead of entering the I-90, you just keep on going , you will soon be in LeRoy, named after a girl named Jennifer LeRoy, maybe. And here in LeRoy, tucked away and hidden on the main street west of the town, is Cruiser's. And it's the homemade ice cream you dreamed of. Was looking for a place to sit around and be pathetic. Came here. Thought it was called "Losers." Ended up with phenom ice cream instead. Owned by Eddie from Eddie And The Cruisers, and also a manufacturing plant for Cruise Missiles and the Cruise Control feature on cars, not to mention a shrine to the great funny-running 5-foot-4 bastion of Scientology, Tom Cruise, this little parlour is as good as any famous one with 1,000 reviews that you've tried in any of the big Yelp cities. I recommend the coffee mocha, the coffee bean, the bananas foster, and any other flavour they recommend. So, so, so deliciously good. It's a tragedy that it's not more popular and beloved with the kids of the region. A lot of people go to the Perry's places because those people are suckers for brand names and don't understand the concept of homemade and local ice cream. Anyone can sell buckets of Perry's. The woman at Cruiser's was telling me how, because they cost a few cents more than the Perry's places (because they make all their own sh** and don't even make much of a profit on it), people complain about the prices. The prices are dirt cheap! The portions are enormous! And some people just don't get it. Do yourself a favour and get down to Cruiser's and try the ice cream. Thanks. But yeah. Was looking for a place to sleep with someone. Literally. Came here. Not literally. Thought it was called "Snoozers." Ended up with yummmmy ice cream instead.

We actually wandered over just after they'd closed for the night, but the sweet girls running the shop told us they could still give us hard ice cream, they'd just already cleaned the soft serve machines. This was fine by me because: 1. I prefer hard ice cream. 2. They clean the soft serve machines, and that's better for everyone. My wife is into the white lightning, which contrary to what you might think is a chocolate-based flavor and thus inferior to vanilla-based ice creams, as everyone knows. But as someone who basically hates chocolate ice cream, I actually liked this one, for whatever that's worth. A warning: If you're sitting on the bench after close, some kid might come up to you and ask if the ice cream shop is closed, and then grill you about how you know it's closed. Even after you give him the rundown, he still might not believe you, try the locked door, and then bang on the window until the poor girls inside come out and tell him no, they will not "give him one ice cream." It was unclear if he was willing to pay. I guess it's pretty unlikely that exact scenario will play out for you like it did for me, but maybe that's what happens every night here at Ikon, like some sort of Groundhog Day situation but for different people each time. I think this review has gotten away from me. Good ice cream, though.
